:I'm really sorry, but the [[Steward requests/Permissions/Minimum voting requirements#Permanent Administrator|global policy]] is very clear, we cannot give you a permanent flag in this case or make exceptions, which otherwise we would have to make for everyone, and that would go against the policies. I personally believe that if a user really needs the admin flag, they certainly have no problem submitting a single request once a year or every two years, as done by many users (most projects don't have permanent admins and a lot of users have 3-months or 6-months flag). We have to consider the fact that you trust them now, but say one of them goes rogue later. 3 people vote to remove, 3 people vote to keep (given there were only 5 people who voted in the original request). Now someone comes to the stewards, and they get mad because we won't remove the rights because the community isn't large enough to understand the abuse/have a proper vote. We continuously run into this problem with wikis trying to grow. :No, respecting the policies is never a waste of everyone's time, is very sad to hear this to be honest. The flag process has been well thought imho, in order to be transparent, to have a supervision, and not to allow to give very long permissions when not needed (or when currently the project is not very big - so permits adapt to the current project situation). I already linked the stats and explained my thoughts. The policy says that the ''the definition of "large enough" is determined by the stewards'', if you want we can open an internal discussion on the specific case, in any case in my experience (also being a former GS), the stats are indicative of a project not large enough to require permanent administrators. There is no fixed number, and rightly so, because many users could create and delete thousands of pages in a few days, saying that the project is large enough, but this should be evaluated on a case-by-case basis. I still don't see the problem here since, I repeat, even in many large projects there is a form of re-election (for example I'm a permanent admin on itwiki, who has local 'crats, but there is an annual reconfirmation). If there are problems with the policy, just open an RfC to change it, I don't understand why complain to those who execute it! Unlike Checkuser and Oversight policies which are very strict and should not be breached unless there is a risk to one's life and limb, MVR is merely a guideline which does the job of having the general permission handling practices documented in writing somewhere, and by no means it has to be taken as gospel. That said, usually I go by the steps of 3, 6, 12, 24, ∞ months, unless there are reasons to skip some of the steps (such as I might give 6 right away if there is clear experience or overwhelming support, or of course permanent might be given much earlier if the more strict MVR requirements are met), so I would be happy to grant the rights permanently next time but I have decided against it now. The major difference here is that I will be holding a paid professional position in service of the ombuds, rather than being its member as a volunteer. I did not request the removal of my OS flag due to the fact that idwiki only have three OS, one of them are rather inactive, and if my flag got removed that would leave the project with only one OS, which is undesirable; on the other side, with my CU resignation there will still be four idwiki CUs remaining. Should the ombuds open a case evaluating idwiki's compliance with the OS policy, I intend to recuse myself from supporting that work, should I be assigned to it.
