I'd like to help on OTRS because I have experience using large-scale ticket-based systems in my workplace and would find it invigorating to assist in Wikipedia’s goals of sharing knowledge by bringing a vast array of experience and skills to the table. I believe that one of the most important aspects of a public-facing project such as Wikipedia is its ability to engage those who contact the project in a friendly but constructive way which forever endeavours to provide a type of service that the contacting person can say “wow, that was easy and I really enjoyed talking to those guys!” With responsibility, of course, must come a level of professionalism and a responsibility-centric ethos which delivers results. I believe firmly that I can provide that level of professionalism while being constantly aware that I have a responsibility, not to make myself look good or bad, but towards the project and its integrity by providing non-bias and easy to follow advice to those who contact us. As a solicitor (Lawyer) in the “real world,” I have an adept understanding when it comes down to maintaining a good quality service even when the one requesting the service is controlled by strong emotions. With the profession also comes knowledge of copyright Laws which could be exceptionally useful when addressing those seeking remedies in respect of media hosted on Wikipedia which they feel violates their legal rights. Another key aspect which I have learned during my time working with Internet Communities is that it is wise to assume that the other person engaged in conversation with you is oblivious not only to the policies but also the so-called “social customs” of the internet community they are needing help with. This, of course, does not mean that one should treat them as though they ought to understand those things but it does require a benevolent approach underpinned by the desire to genuinely help that person resolve their problem without focusing on language which perhaps only “insiders” would be aware of.

In conclusion, I have an in-depth passion for the Wikipedia project because it allows people from across the world to find out information about many things they might not ordinarily have direct access to. This knowledge equates to empowerment for society as it allows those from all walks of life to seek and gain information and use it to their own advantages. However, the Wikipedia Project is also heavily reliant on its readers’ trust and that trust must be maintained to enshrine the principle. The OTRS is pivotal in maintaining trust and good relations with the many varieties of those who use it and thus to be a part of that would be contributing directly to ideals which the project and I share.

:: comment I have recently read some material posted with concern to liabilities and concerns related to indemnity from legal action for those who volunteer here. While I will not post a legal opinion on that matter here, I feel it important to mention that I am very clear on the definitions of what constitutes “legal advice” or even “professional advice” in civil litigation and wish to make it known that I do not consider the Wikipedia Project or its affiliates to be a proprietor of a service which provides legal advice and thus will not be undertaking any communication which would give the impression least not the action of providing professional legal advice to anyone who makes contact with me through any means on Wikipedia, this includes the OTRS. I hope this statement will give confidence in respect of any concerns which may arise due to my professional career and give clarity on my statement about those who might contact me in regard to copyright issues. : oppose access to both queues at this time. There's insufficient evidence to determine their experience with licensing and copyright issues on both English Wikipedia and Commons (even taking into account their legal qualification). Their edit count on Commons is less than 100, there's a break of over a year between contributions (only 2, as I write this, in 2017) and there's significant concern about deletion accuracy and copyright knowledge in discussions from 2015, with a number of erroneous nominations and arguments which at the time show a dearth of copyright experience and policy knowledge.
: Their behaviour in recent days on English Wikipedia has also been concerning, not exactly helping in the smooth operation of the site (pestering Drmies seems to be their new hobby in recent days) and producing enormous quantities of text about qualifications and fear of low edit counts, which suggests the editor is not sufficiently familiar with the project to be giving guidance via e-mail.
: I'd expect the user to display a good six months to a year of editing on both English Wikipedia and Commons before asking for OTRS access. Sorry. Nick (talk) 20:58, 6 February 2017 (UTC)
:*Nick Fresh or different prospective like those you mentioned in recent days isn’t always a negative thing. When dealing primarily with outsiders who are unconcerned with the social dynamics or field of play on Wikipedia or its community might be more interested with having someone who can understand, sympathise and alleviate their concerns. I do however, appreciate your perspective and ever strive to contribute towards a good project in a positive way. I clearly have some ideas such as those you have mentioned about my “fear of low edit count” essay which may be out of alignment with yourself or others but it is an essay of my own views. Working and interacting with members of the public with regards to their concerns is far separated from impressing other Wikipedia editors. I understand that my opinions and recent interactions with users, perhaps has shown me to be outspoken and disregard community expectations but I believe a role in OTRS is not to focus so much on the Wikipedia editor’s expectations as it is to be able to address issues bought to the project by those seeking genuine advice. In respect of my knowledge for Wikipedia’s policies, I have a high regard and knowledge of them. Perhaps you have been speaking about my lack of knowledge in respect to other editor’s essays or guidelines but I do distinguish them from official policies. With this all said and done, I do greatly appreciate your input here as it gives me a view of how others perceive things. It is my sincere hope that your overt focus on my editing counts does not skew your vision on how much of a potential good I can do in a role with the OTRS team. ::*NickWith respect to your concerns about my knowledge with copyrights. Are you inferencing my lack of knowledge with respect to Wikipedia’s policies on copyright or the Law on copyrights? An example of me putting effort into an issue of copyright can be found here: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:Deletion_requests/File:Crown_of_HM_The_Queen_of_Great_Britain_and_Commonwealth_States.gif . With this said, there are several effortless contributions by myself in 2015 in respect to copyright and I take full responsibility for this. The main reasons for this is my genuine disinterest at the time thus I put the minimal amount of thought and effort into them. This in no way reflects my effort with respect to copyright issues when I am dedicated to it. Wiki-Coffee (talk) 03:15, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
:::* I don't doubt you believe you're sufficiently knowledgeable and experienced, but there's little evidence to demonstrate that, whilst some of the evidence contradicts that assertion and calls into question your understanding of policies or things like copyright legislation.
The concern now, is that there's so little evidence of you helping other users in existing venues, such as the Teahouse, Articles for Creation (signed up, fell out with Primefac, went away) or the Reference Desk, nor have you been particularly active in normal venues where we can routinely examine your knowledge and understanding of policies, guidelines and other essays - no votes cast at RfA, very little commenting activity at AN and AN/I (no edits to AN, 24 edits to ANI, 20 edits to AN/EW). There's also the farcical request for arbitration where your conduct, being exceptionally charitable, was infantile and self indulgent.
There's insufficient evidence to determine whether an improvement in behaviour and conduct has taken place in the period since that request, and a severe lack of any evidence which can allow us to determine how good you would be at handling questions and complaints from other editors. It's not about edit count, it's about edit quality and demonstrating a track record of you adding value to the project. That's why I think you need to spend a few months editing away in areas which are relevant to OTRS work. Nick (talk) 10:50, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
* oppose Per Nick concerns and the user has less than 3000 edits globally. I don't think access should be granted at this time. --Steinsplitter (talk) 12:05, 7 February 2017 (UTC)
