The Wikimedia Summit (previously known as Wikimedia Conference) is an annual meeting of representatives of Wikimedia Affiliates, the Wikimedia Foundation and other movement groups like the Affiliations Committee. The first Chapters meetup took place in 2008 in Nijmegen, Netherlands and a follow-up for 2009 was planned, which turned out to become the first international Wikimedia Conference. Before 2012, Mediawiki software developers took the chance to meet during this conference, too. As of 2019 it is called the Wikimedia Summit.
