This page is for requests to have stewards grant or revoke administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights on Wikimedia projects which do not have a local permissions procedure.

Requests for bot flags are handled at SRB, and requests for global permissions are handled at SRGP.
If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (index).
For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewards^connect IRC channel. In emergencies, type !steward in the channel to get the attention of stewards. Otherwise, you can type @steward for non-urgent help.

Other than requests to remove your own access or emergencies, please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

Using this page[edit]

2. Fill in the values:

domain: the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
user name: the name of the user whose rights are to be changed (like "Exampleuser"). In case you're requesting access for multiple bots, leave this field blank and give a list of these bots in your remarks
discussion: a link to the local vote or discussion about the rights change (for example, "[[ex:Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#ExampleUser]]"). This should normally be for at least one week, but no more than three weeks (if so, you'll need to restart the process).

3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Confirmation of signing confidentiality agreement[edit]

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to sign a confidentiality agreement. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also sign the confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until the receipt has been formally confirmed by the Office.

@EPIC, @CapitainAfrika: Interface administrator rights are not necessary at all for general improvements in interface translation. It's much better to do it on https://translatewiki.net, which has its own accounts.

Interface administrator rights are necessary for advanced interface customizations, only in cases when the translations that come from translatewiki.net cannot be appropriate for some reason, and as far as I can see, this is not the case with kg.wikipedia at the moment. Thank you @Superpes15, I have basic knowledge since I am from the region and my parents come from this community, I am looking to revitalize my language and I have already formed a community of contributors to move the project forward. There are certain modules that require you to have rights to create them, I am trying to set up the Biography infobox for example, the display is not correct, in lnwiki it is already good but especially to retrieve the info from Wikidata, moreover the user @Pppery helped us to do it in lnwiki, but the problem remains in kgwiki, too, for the display of navigation palette in bottom of the page, it's still difficult for the two wikis, I'll send you the links that complicate me, if you could help me either by creating them or by helping me create them :

@Volstand: As far as I can see you don't have email enabled, but it is no longer needed so you can forget about that.

However, may I ask you if you have enabled two-factor authentication for your account? If you do not, please follow the instructions here to enable it. Hello, there are currently no administrators on this Wikipedia project and there are constantly spam pages being created. I mark pages for deletion, but there is a large backlog. @Ternera: According to your userpage you are only rw-1 - could you clarify what you will need local admin rights for, and if it's something more tedious than what one would normally just request from global sysops? I'm asking considering that, like mentioned above, you are only rw-1 and do not have any local users supporting, and that you have 42 local edits on the project, most of them being speedy deletion taggings or vandalism reverts. Hi EPIC - to address your first question, I list myself as rw-1 because I understand the Rwanda grammar but do not have the best memory of nouns and verbs. I've become interested in it because it's a dying language. I included the deletion of spam pages in my initial reasoning, and I would also like to do tasks like editing the front page. I'm not sure how appropriate it would be to link it here, but the Gusiramura article included on the front page is not an appropriate article to show there and I believe there are a few things on the front page that should be re-worked (such as the removal of dead links). Another thing I would like to do is work on the EditGrowthConfig because it is lacking in resources. I feel like the help panel links could be better and that it would help new editors get a better understanding of what to do. Right now, I see the project being used for a lot of spam purposes and better resources for editors may help. Let me know if you have any other questions or concerns for me. Hei, There are some material on common.js and css on pswiki that were updated by me long ago, and it needs to be changed now. In principle, requests for temporary bureaucrat access are not granted.
A small project does not need bureaucrats. Currently whether a promotion is valid or not is decided by stewards. See here for a guideline.

CheckUser access[edit]

See CheckUser policy for information about this user group and the policy governing the use of this tool.

To request CheckUser information, see Steward requests/Checkuser. This is the place to request CheckUser access.
One-time CheckUser access is not permitted and temporary access is only used by Stewards or when the mandate of the CUs has an expiry date specified in local policies.

Stewards: Before granting this permission to a user, please check the current policy and make sure that the user has signed the confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation. An email template is available for requesting new users to identify.

When a new user is assigned to this group, please add them to this list. Subscription to checkuser-l will be handled by list owners. Make sure new users contact an op for access to #wikimedia-privacy^connect and #wikimedia-checkuser^connect.

Removal of access[edit]

If you're requesting the removal of your own permissions, make sure you're logged in to your account. If you have multiple flags, specify which you want removed. Stewards may delay your request a short time to ensure you have time to rethink your request (see previous discussion on 24 hour delays); the rights will not be restored by stewards once they are removed.

To request the removal of another user's permissions, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, provide a link to the discussion, with a brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion. However, as bureaucrats of some wikis may remove users from the administrator or bureaucrat group, please see also a separate list of these specific wikis.

To request the removal of another user's permissions for inactivity, link to your local inactivity policy. If your site does not have inactivity policy, the global policy Admin activity review applies.

Additionally, as previously reported, the user's behavior is highly problematic, bordering on supporting vandalism, and even suggesting a little potential of unauthorized access to the account.

Hi, per my email exchange with EPIC, I am leaving this quick note to let the record show that I am actively on my account and in full control of it, just not editing at the moment. As the policy intends to prevent the risks associated with unattended accounts, I believe we are safe here. Additionally, the local policy to get the access is only through an RfO, something that I am not willing to go through at this time, so the removal would only serve to prevent my potential work on this front. I would therefore appreciate it if a reinstatement could be considered. Thank you!

It is a test wiki, that is correct - but there is still a local process for requesting and granting rights, and so that should be followed. The rights were granted temporarily with the user having to re-request if they have wanted the rights renewed, and the request was confirmed by a local bureaucrat, so the rights were removed accordingly with the local procedure. The only test wiki that does not have a local procedure for granting rights is test2wiki - testwiki and testwikidata have procedures and so they should be followed.
