The Wikimedia-installed Etherpad is the Wikimedia-hosted instance of the online collaborative text editor of that name. The Wikimedia community uses it to document Wikimedia activities such as shared notes in meetings and conference discussions.

Guide

Anyone may create documents for collaborative editing through the etherpad landing page

Etherpad files are not suitable for any long-term storage. The etherpad does not require accounts to create or contribute to documents, and there is no connection between the etherpad and anyone's Wikimedia user account. After using an etherpad, anyone is encouraged to move the content of the etherpad to a wikipage or elsewhere.

In the unusual circumstance that content in an etherpad should be deleted immediately, the person requesting deletion should file a security task on Phabricator.

History

In November 2013 a tech update announced that the old Etherpad was replaced by a new installation of etherpad-lite in 2013. Old pads were archived to etherpad-old.wikimedia.org, which was removed on Monday, 30 December 2013.
