Thank you. Jack Merridew 11:00, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

:For what it is worth, I lend my support here. Jack has shown a lot of interest in the technical setup of id:wp, jv:wp (and also starting to help with en:ws), he has worked very closely with the community on this, and is very unlikely to do anything inappropriate there. I have checked all of the sysops, and there are a few that are active, but not very active, and there are language barriers here as well. I recommend temporary sysop; he should only need half an hour. John Vandenberg 11:42, 30 July 2008 (UTC)

This page enables stewards to handle permissions requests, including the giving and taking of administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights, for all Wikimedia wikis which do not have a local permissions procedure. If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (see the index of request pages). Requests for bot status, URL blacklisting and whitelisting, and CheckUser queries belong elsewhere.

Interface-translations are done at Betawiki.

For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewardsconnect IRC channel (see a web-based IRC client). In emergencies only, type !steward in the channel to inform stewards that you need help.

Please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

Using this page

When requesting permissions, copy and paste the following text into the correct section. Please fill in all the required fields -- language code, link to the local request (or other means of confirming that the request has approval), and link to your local user page. Without this information, a steward cannot process your request.

Please summarize your request in the "summary".

Username@language-code project-name
I request sysop access.
*Language Code: xx
*Local Request Link: :xx:Project:wiki
*Automatic List of local bureaucrats: :xx:Project:Special:Listusers/bureaucrat
*Local User Page: xx:User:Example

Thank you. ~~~~

The project names are coded as follows:

  • Enter "wiki" for Wikipedia after the language code.
  • Enter "wiktionary" for Wiktionary after the language code.
  • Enter "wikibooks" for Wikibooks after the language code.
  • Enter "wikinews" for Wikinews after the language code.
  • Enter "wikiquote" for Wikiquote after the language code.
  • Enter "wikisource" for Wikisource after the language code, but enter "sourceswiki" for the Multilingual Wikisource without a language code.
  • Enter "wikiversity" for Wikiversity after the language code.
  • Enter "commonswiki" for Wikimedia Commons without a language code.
  • Enter "specieswiki" for Wikispecies without a language code.

Confirmation of identity

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to confirm their identity. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also submit the relevant identification to the Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until receipt has been formally confirmed by the office.

Instructions for how you can confirm your identity can be found at: Steward handbook/email templates.

For stewards: Identification noticeboard.

Requests

Administrator access

See administrator for information about the position. Requests for temporary permissions and removal of access belong in other sections.

Chrisportelli@mt.wikipedia

Please grant administrator access to Chrisportelli@mt.wikipedia due to successful RFA.

Thanks --Giangian15 12:27, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Only 1 support vote, sorry, but that is not enough to gain permanent adminship, he might be able to ask for a temporary status. If he wants that he should do so in the section below. thanks,--Nick1915 - all you want 12:35, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
please ask to a local 'crat: two of them are active--Nick1915 - all you want 12:39, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
you think that if they were active, i would have submitted a request here? i tried contacting them before i came here but to no avail. Anyway that RFA was there for a whole week. It's not our fault that it collected just one vote, no? so what we're we gonna do?--Giangian15 12:45, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
this one is active, have you tried to send an email to him? if he doesn't answer, please consider to ask a temporary sysopship below--Nick1915 - all you want 12:53, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Of course i tried, Joe is not so active, he comes online only when he's at work, and does only one or 2 actions and never replies to anything. Besides that admin/bureucrat access was granted to him without the consensus of the community from SRL (and you're making a fuss because chris got only 1 support vote). SRL the other bureacrat/admin, doesn't know how to spk in proper maltese and he wasn't granted access from the community but from the stewards here. That's why he's inactive and never contributes anything.

Now the only thing i'm asking you, to grant chris the tools cause he's very active and did over 7000 edits. Me and chris are the only two "active" users atm. Thanks --Giangian15 13:08, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry, but I agree with Nick, one vote is no enough for a fair voting. Please apply for temp adminship, it is technically the same, so don't worry. We can do it right here in this request, we can offer him 3 months to start, he can leave a short message a few days before expiration here, to prolong it easily or if the community grows make a voting. Thanks for Your understanding, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 13:16, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, well, I see the local crat was only notyfied today, so we will wait for his answer, thanks, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 13:21, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have left him a note, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 13:24, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

no, he wasn't .. he was notified the day before yesterday. that's because you can't read maltese ;) --Giangian15 13:25, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

2 days or one day are to short time for giving him the chance to respond. --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 13:31, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not done, I am sorry, but the local crats have responded and thus are active, they will promote locally or not however the outcome of votings in mt.wiki are, thanks, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 05:39, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Bureaucrat access

See bureaucrat for information about the position.

CheckUser access

To request CheckUser information, see Request for CheckUser information. This is the place to request CheckUser access. Note that temporary CheckUser access is not permitted.

Stewards: When someone asks for CheckUser status, please check the current policy regarding bestowal of status before giving the status. Do not grant CheckUser access unless the user is identified to the foundation, which will be announced here. Breaching these rules may be cause for removing your steward access. When you give someone CheckUser, please list them on CheckUser, ask them to subscribe to checkuser-l, email checkuser-l-owner@wikipedia.org so that the listadmins know the person is allowed on the mailing list (the list may contain confidential information), and make sure they contact an op for access to #wikimedia-checkuser.

Cruccone@it.wikipedia

Please grant checkuser access to Cruccone@it.wikipedia due to successful poll

Thanks. --Brownout(msg) 10:13, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On hold please provide to send your identification to the Foundation--Nick1915 - all you want 12:23, 9 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oversight access

Do not initiate an oversight request here. The Arbitration Committee will make the request once there is consensus on the local wiki (this process is currently for en-Wikipedia only).

Stewards: Do not grant Oversight access unless the user is identified to the foundation, which will be announced here. When you give someone oversight access, list them on Hiding revisions.

Removal of access

If you want to request that your own status be removed, please don't forget to place a note on your local user talk page (preferably with an English translation). This is required to prove your identity. And then add the request here. You should add the difflink of your local confirmation edit to the request.

To request the removal of another user's status, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. All discussion must be kept on your local wiki. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, a trusted person from that wiki should provide a link here to the discussion, a very brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion.

Copy and paste the following text into the correct section. Fill in all the required fields -- language code, link to the local request, and link to your local user page. Without this information, a steward cannot process your request.

Username@language-code project-name
I request removal of my sysop access.
*Language Code: xx
*Local Confirmation/Request Link: <!--Difflink of the local confirmation edit (for own requests), or link to the community decision-->
*Local User Page: xx:User:Example

Please summarize your request in the "summary".

Temporary permissions for emergency or technical purposes

If you are requesting administrator status to make a translation of the wiki interface, see also the BetaWiki project, which seeks to make a neutral MediaWiki translation that will then be default for all wikis. That is more useful than only making a local translation. You can ask questions in the IRC channel or in the mailing list. See also MediaWiki localisation. If you are requesting adminship to handle one-time vandalism incidents or clearing a deletion backlog, please see Vandalism reports and Multilingual speedy deletions.

Stewards: Currently active temporary permissions are listed at /Approved temporary. When granting a request, please copy the request to the appropriate section there, and clearly state the date of removal. Requests only need remain listed below for a few days, and may afterward be removed as long as they have been copied to the subpage.

Copy and paste the following text into the correct section. Fill in all the required fields -- language code, link to the list of sysops and bureaucrats, local request link, link to your local user page, and the preferred duration with a reason. Without this information, a steward cannot process your request.

Jack Merridew@id.wikipedia

I request temporary sysop access.

See;

I made edits a few days ago to protected templates (request is on Borgx's talk page here) and broke better than 20,000 pages (on a 90,000 page wiki). The fixes are described in detail on Borgx's talk page. See the screen shots. I would be fine with someone knowledgeable about templates and css chipping in on the talk there or performing the edits.

Thank you. Jack Merridew 11:00, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Jack has shown a lot of interest in the technical setup of id:wp, jv:wp (and also starting to help with en:ws), he has worked very closely with the community on this, and is very unlikely to do anything inappropriate there. Giangian15@mt.wikipedia

Please grant me temporary admin on the maltese wikipedia.

  • Language Code: mt
  • List of local sysops: w:mt:Special:Listadmins
  • List of local bureaucrats: w:mt:Listusers/bureaucrat
  • Local User Page: Giangian15
  • Preferred duration and reason: clean up of maltese wikipedia, which will include a new front page. Statistics arranged, and many more. The reason is explained in the section of granting admin (under Chrisportelli@mt.wikipedia).

Thank you. --Giangian15 13:22, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

On hold, please allow the local crats to respond to the querry first, thanks, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 13:40, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Not done, I am sorry, but the local crats have responded and thus are active, they will promote locally or not however the outcome of votings in mt.wiki are, thanks, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 05:39, 30 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Miscellaneous requests

Requests that don't fit in other sections belong here. Note that the following types of requests belong on separate pages: bot status, URL blacklisting and whitelisting, and requests for CheckUser queries. If you want to have your Meta username changed, please go to Meta:Requests for help from a sysop or bureaucrat. If you want to have changed a username on a Wikimedia wiki without bureaucrats, please go to Requests for username changes.(Existing requests have been moved to the appropriate page.)

Reminder

  • Import rights can be granted by stewards only, not bureaucrats, so the automatic list of local bureaucrats is irrelevant for this.
  • Usurpation requests should be placed at Steward requests/Usurpation.
  • Username changes should be placed at Requests for username changes.
  • Please make sure you have your accounts renamed before merging them.

Requests for global permissions

  1. Before requesting, make sure that:
    • You have a global account;
    • You are logged in on this wiki, and the account is part of your global account;
    • You have read the relevant description page for the access you want (see Global rollback). Your request might be rejected if you don't follow their instructions, and not doing so would reflect poorly on your suitability.
  2. To request, copy the template below to the bottom of this section and explain of why you need the access and why you're suitable.
Global rollback for Foo
Explanation here. ~~~

Stewards will review the request. The request will be approved if at least three stewards endorse it and there are no objections after a short period (typically approximately three days). If there is steward opposition, the discussion will require at least one week and 75% steward approval. Non-steward users are welcome to discuss as well, though stewards will make the final decision. (It is appreciated if non-steward users use comment instead of the yes/no templates to reduce confusion among those who do not have all the stewards memorised)

Global rollback for MF-Warburg

Like those above, I do vandalfighting on SWMT (e.g. [1], [2], [3], [4], [5]) and I think global rollback will be helpful for this. MF-W 19:22, 27 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Comment Comment are there other rollbacks outside his home wiki besides those four linked in the request? I can't find them. IMHO this user is not an active member of SWMT, are userpage creations across projects considered vandal fighting? Does he really need it?
