Hello, all. The mw:Editing team is starting a new project, mw:Edit check. They are particularly seeking the views of RecentChanges patrollers and other reviewers. One of the open questions is: When should the visual editor encourage people to add a citation?

Loke Gustafsson

Hi, I just noticed that you set a global lock of Loke Gustafsson. A few weeks ago I investigated sv:Special:Contributions/Loke Gustafsson, see e.g. sv:Diskussion:Bojkotten av internationella matematikerkongressen 2022. A young maths-interested person with that name exists in the real world[1][2], so at the time I could imagine at least three different possibilities:

1. Loke Gustafsson the person is behind both the Loke Gustafsson account and the other Remitbuber accounts
2. Loke Gustafsson the person was impersonated by the person behind the Remitbuber accounts
3. Loke Gustafsson the person created the Loke Gustafsson account but not the others, just unwittingly translated Remitbuber material, by his own admission at least partially automatically (and it shows...)

As you might imagine, I'm not too enthusiastic about automatic translations of these rather weak articles, regardless of who created them, so I'm not at this point asking for an unlocking. I'm still a bit curious about the reasoning behind the global lock. What do you think about the likelihoods of my three scenarios, and do you think there are other scenarios that I've overlooked? Hello, Essin. The person behind Remitbuber has disclosed in the past his real-life identity. For this and other reasons (which I will not elaborate for privacy's sake), I can safely say that the account Loke Gustafsson is definitely not the real Gustafsson, but one of the dozens of socks used by Remitbuber.

There is an ongoing discussion on a proposed policy governing the use of external resources in gadgets and UserJS. The proposed Third-party resources policy aims at making the UserJS and Gadgets landscape a bit safer by encouraging best practices around external resources. After an initial non-public conversation with a small number of interface admins and staff, we've launched a much larger, public consultation to get a wider pool of feedback for improving the policy proposal. Based on the ideas received so far, the proposed policy now includes some of the risks related to user scripts and gadgets loading third-party resources, best practices for gadgets and UserJS developers, and exemptions requirements such as code transparency and inspectability.

As an interface administrator, your feedback and suggestions are warmly welcome until July 17, 2023 on the policy talk page.
