CheckUser bit

Hello, as a result of the unanimous consensus within the election held on meta Rfp page, and since you were already identified to the WMF, I have granted you (again) the CheckUser permission on meta.wiki and listed you on the relevant page.

My best wishes and congratulation!

AF

Hi, I see you have edited Special:AbuseFilter/65 so I hope you can help me with this. I was recently contacted by an editor I do not know, but who seems to be a good faith editor. His edit was blocked by this filter, and he believes he was blocked (though I believe it was his IP address that was blocked, as his account does not show a block).

The odd thing is, it appears this AF rule is only supposed to affect users with a low number of edits; but this users has greatly exceeded the threshold. It has been a few years since his most recent edit, but otherwise he is clearly over the limit. So I am not sure it the filter did something it shouldn't, or if there's something I should advise him to do.

Since the AF is set to private view only, I have been a bit vague in this message. If you'd like to discuss this in more detail, please send an email. Thanks for any help you can offer. -Pete F (talk) 02:09, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply

You are a sysop too, so you should be able to see the details and the logs. (I can, too!) — Revi 08:20, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Peteforsyth: The edit count is a local count, not a global count, does that make a difference to the situation? It only hits low edit counts, so for someone to avoid the impact of the filter they just need to do some non-spam-like edits. If anyone is adversely affected by the AF they can just leave a note on the meta admin page, and someone will have a poke. I regularly review the abuse log, and I am not seeing false positives, though not to say that there are none.  — billinghurst sDrewth 11:22, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
@Peteforsyth: I have sent you an email as you requested. Best regards, -- M\A 11:53, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
thank you all, it turns out there was some confusion about what user account was affected. I think I have all the info I need now. -Pete F (talk) 20:21, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
My pleasure. Poke me if you need me further. Best regards, -- M\A 22:54, 30 December 2014 (UTC)Reply
