Legal Communications
1 Wikicode lien

There are concerns that we could face significant legal challenges trying to obtain trademark protection for this name in some major global jurisdictions.

If one of these is chosen, the expected difficulties in protecting these names as trademarks may include third parties starting their own projects with the same or similar names. This could cause confusion regarding the association between the different projects. In some cases, that confusion may lead us to need to change the name of this project.

Great branding - This makes clear use of movement naming practices (Wiki prefix) and uses a common term (code) to clearly communicate the project’s focus. It is easy to read, pronounce, spell, and remember.
2 Wikicodex lien OK branding - This makes clear use of movement naming practices (Wiki prefix) alongside an uncommon naming element (Codex) that is not explicitly accurate (the project is not oriented towards manuscripts) possibly complicating new user understanding of the project’s focus.
3 Wikifunctions lien Great branding - This makes clear use of movement naming practices (Wiki prefix) and uses a common term (Functions) to clearly communicate the project’s focus. It is easy to read, pronounce, spell, and remember.
4 Wikifusion lien At this phase, we are not aware of significant legal concerns regarding the use of and ability to register this name as a trademark in major global jurisdictions. OK branding - This makes clear use of movement naming practices (Wiki prefix) alongside a common naming element (Fusion) that is more associative than literal, possibly complicating new user understanding of the project’s focus, but with a strong sense of energy and impact.
5 Wikilambda lien Difficult branding - This makes clear use of movement naming practices (Wiki prefix) alongside an uncommon naming element (lambda) that could create division between those who understand the term and its associations and those who do not. The “lambda” term may also be hard for people to say and spell, challenging consistency in use across audiences (e.g. press, donors, international).
6 Wikimedia Functions lien

Good branding - The name makes clear use of movement naming practices (Wikimedia) , and clearly defines the project’s focus, making the brand clear and approachable.

Domain would end up being wikimedia-functions.org or functions.wikimedia.org
