What banner(s) will you use? What will be your landing page?
The overall design could mirror that of the Mais Povos originários banner, which looked great! There are just a few changes:
Instead of the logo, we'd like to use an image of the wikicontest's prizes, which you can find here. Do you think it's possible? Additionally, the background color should be changed to #8153D6.
Text1: Participe do Concurso de Edição Mais Diversidade em Teoria da História na Wiki, entre os dias 11 de outubro e 11 de novembro de 2024, e contribua para visibilizar conhecimentos dissidentes. Font: Open Sans Light, size 24, black.
Text2: Inscreva-se aqui. Font: Open Sans Light, size 29, white. For the box, the color is #5ED5ED.
As you probably noticed, the instructions are pretty similar to the Mais Mulheres' banner, just different background colors, image and text. Maybe using that one as reference when it's done would make the work easier! Again, thanks a lot for the help! If you have any doubts, please contact me.

See CentralNotice/Request/Mais Mulheres em Teoria da História na Wiki/2024#Discussion, the requested font size / amount of text / image size is likely too large for this request as well. --Johannnes89 (talk) 14:44, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, @Johannnes89:. Can we shorten the main sentence to “Participe do Concurso de Edição Mais Diversidade em Teoria da História na Wiki e contribua para visibilizar conhecimentos dissidentes.” What do you think? I'd like to point out that we're also going to include a MetaWiki landing page in this banner, but we haven't created the page yet. I'll post it here soon. Thanks in advance. Danielly Figueredo (Projeto Mais+) (talk) 18:15, 6 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Danielly Figueredo (Projeto Mais+): yes of course we can change the landing page link at a later point. I've created the campaign [1] and the preliminary banner [2] (Preview [3]). Please review everything to make sure it's alright. Looking at the mobile version [4] on a smartphone I think this banner should use less text. --Johannnes89 (talk) 06:25, 7 June 2024 (UTC)

- @Tania Solá (WMMX): Have you informed WMF about the survey? Please take a look at CentralNotice/Usage guidelines#Surveys in case you need more information. Ping for TAndic (WMF) as well. ;) Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 22:21, 27 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hello @Tania Solá (WMMX)! I'll ask to see the survey before I comment, just let me know when you have it (I see we have a couple of months to set this up, so no urgency; just at least a couple of weeks before it starts so we have time to review :)). - TAndic (WMF) (talk) 10:57, 1 April 2024 (UTC)

- Hi @DerHexer, @Tania Solá (WMMX) and I have coordinated on the survey and I send my approval to proceed when the time comes (above dates are 30 May to 12 June) :)
- Tania, you may want to change the banner message to make sure it says it's from Wikimedia Mexico as that could encourage people to participate since it's specific to them.
- For banner coverage, since this is a survey of only editors in Mexico I think it would be okay to do 100% on eswiki in Mexico to get the amount of needed data (maybe 90% if you want a random sample). I leave it up to you all for coverage on other wikis, but you can check the country stats for different wikis here (note: they are not mutually exclusive as far as I know, so some could be editors participating on multiple wikis) - TAndic (WMF) (talk) 09:09, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
- @TAndic (WMF) Thanks for all the support, I have already made the modifications of your last recommendations. @DerHexer I'll stay pending in case anything else is required. Thank you both very much! Tania Solá (WMMX) (talk) 21:33, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

@Bruna Grando (Projeto Mais+) I've created the campaign [5] and the banner [6] (preview [7]). As you can see the requested font size is way too large (and/or it's too much text). The problem gets worse if the banner is displayed on mobile devices. Using an image that doesn't take so much space (e.g. square shaped) would probably help as well. --Johannnes89 (talk) 14:41, 4 May 2024 (UTC)
- Olá,@Johannnes89:. Thank you for your feedback, but for some reason I can't see the preview. Can you check, please?--Danielly Figueredo (Projeto Mais+) (talk) 09:54, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Danielly Figueredo (Projeto Mais+) perhaps try this one [8]? --Johannnes89 (talk) 16:55, 15 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, @Johannnes89:. Can you make the letters smaller so we can see them better? I think maybe size 22 for the larger text and 27 for “Inscreva-se” might work. Please feel free to make them smaller if you see the need. Danielly Figueredo (Projeto Mais+) (talk) 14:50, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- @Danielly Figueredo (Projeto Mais+) and Bruna Grando (Projeto Mais+): that doesn't help much. It's ok when changed to 19px for both the larger text & button text [9], but still pretty bad if you open the banner on mobile [10] (and the majority of readers uses mobile devices). The banner text should contain less characters and/or the text size should be reduced even more (like your banner from 2022 [11]). Alternatively you should consider using an image that doesn't take as much space (e.g. like this banner [12]) which would allow for more text to be used. --Johannnes89 (talk) 15:52, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, @Johannnes89:. If you shorten the sentence to: “Participe do Concurso de Edição Mais Mulheres em Teoria da História na Wiki e contribua para fechar lacunas!” is that better? I think that should solve the problem. Danielly Figueredo (Projeto Mais+) (talk) 16:37, 28 May 2024 (UTC)
- Should be ok (preview [13], mobile version [14]). Mobile version is not ideal yet (depending on the device) but probably acceptable. --Johannnes89 (talk) 10:58, 30 May 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, @Johannnes89:! I think it's good now. I've made a small change to the request by changing the Landing Page link to the event page in Meta. Can you make this adjustment? Thanks again for all your help! Danielly Figueredo (Projeto Mais+) (talk) 15:34, 4 June 2024 (UTC)
- @Danielly Figueredo (Projeto Mais+): done [15]. I assume we can basically take the same banner for CentralNotice/Request/Mais Diversidade em Teoria da História na Wiki/2024? Please check the second banner request if you can provide a shorter sentence for the first line of text, just like you shortened it for this banner as well. --Johannnes89 (talk) 17:38, 4 June 2024 (UTC)

- @AndreFrank-WMIL and מקף: Please note that campaigns have to requested at least 10 days in advance (see CNR) because of possible issues that can show up. Unfortunately, that's here the case:
- What is this campaign about? As CentralNotice administrators, we had to give a category to the campaign (Article writing, Photography, Event, Fundraising, etc.). Unfortunately, my Hebrew is a bit odd and without any information beyond Wikimedia Israel campaign "רוצים שהעולם ילמד שהוא עגול? עגלו לטובת הוויקיפדיה העברית!" I cannot assign a useful category.
- As far as I can conclude from the automated translation of the landing page, you are (also) asking for donations. As per CentralNotice guidelines, any kind of fundraising campaigns have to be forwarded to the Wikimedia Foundation staff 90 days in advance so that agreements can be signed, etc.
- Campaigns that intend to target wide audiences (i.e., anonymous users in particular) should be announced on the local village pump and usually can only be enabled when there is no objection from the local community as well.
- Lastly, we cannot make good use of images for CentralNotice banners. Although I could embed it into a banner and make the general background black, it will be a major problem for all devices beyond desktop PCs (mobile views often cover more than 50 % of readers so that you likely don't want me to disable that). Usually, either the banner design is provided in HTML/CSS/JavaScript by the requester or we adapt the standard banner where we can use one logo on the left (maybe another one on the right) and a short text with only a few other changes at max. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 12:15, 1 March 2024 (UTC) PS: See further my presentation about CentralNotice campaigns here.
- Hi, thanks for the detailed explanation. This is the first time I make such a request and what you wrote helps me a lot.
*
So, for me, probably just to postpone the start and end date respectively, I guess the main thing is that it will take about a month in total.
- This is a WMIL fundraising campaign, suggests the readers who are interested in doing so, to round the purchases amounts on credit to the nearest new shekel round whole number, and to donate the Israeli agoras (= the little rounded amount). If you would like to know more about this donation concept (quite familiar in Israel), here is a more detailed explanation: w:he:עיגול לטובה (machine translation to english)
- Ok. @Andre, I hope you can take care of this aspect. Perhaps the WMF already knows the WMIL campaign from previous years and will confirm it quickly.
- Ok, announced on w:he:WP:מזנון#M:CentralNotice/Request/Wikimedia Israel, Igul LeTova 2024
- Is it possible to implement this banner using two separate almost identical banners, the only difference being that one is optimized for desktop and the other for mobile devices?
- Thank you! · מקף Hyphen ෴ · 12:54, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for the proposed steps. As soon as I have all information, I can set up the campaign without the further delay of 10 days. I can also add two banner variants, one for desktop, the other for mobile. Please keep in mind that only HTML/CSS/JavaScript can be used, no wiki markup (the image could be used but has flaws, as said). I'm pinging JBrungs (WMF) so that she is notified about the campaign and can add her OK when everything is cut and dried from the fundraising end. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 16:41, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you @DerHexer.
- @AndreFrank-WMIL and מקף: I know WMIL has run the Round Up campaign before. Have you been in touch with the WMF office this year? I was in touch with @OphirT - WMIL about the campaign last year. We need to renew agreements before you can run the campaign. If this has already happened, great, but can you drop me an email at jbrungs at wikimedia dot org and let me know the details so I can double check this from my side? Thank you! JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 06:40, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
- Letting everyone know that the agreement is now signed and the banners are good to go from my side. @AndreFrank-WMIL and @DerHexer. JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 05:27, 9 April 2024 (UTC)
- We'll need new dates then. ;) Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 13:06, 9 April 2024 (UTC)

- Hello everyone! I really appreciate your collaboration and support! Our plan is to kick off the campaign in May, however, the Wikimedia Israel board has requested a revision of the design before the launch. They also suggested starting with two slightly different versions to test their effectiveness. Based on the analysis of which version performs better, we will continue with the most successful one for the rest of the campaign.
- Please find the approved files attached here:
- Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. AndreFrank-WMIL (talk) 03:27, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- @DerHexer, @מקף, @JBrungs (WMF) can you help me understand how we can advance from here on? Thanks! AndreFrank-WMIL (talk) 06:16, 7 May 2024 (UTC)
- @AndreFrank-WMIL: Please let us know the exact dates and how you intend to test the two versions. :) Usually, you will need access to wikitech:Analytics for banner display data. We CentralNotice administrators cannot provide that. How did you plan to test the effectiveness? Do you want each of them to take donors to different pages where you will do the test? Furthermore, we cannot build banners from PNG mockups either, we need a pure HTML/CSS/JavaScript version (including close buttons, etc.). Can you provide that, please? Thanks and best, —DerHexer (Talk) 17:05, 9 May 2024 (UTC)

- @Astinson (WMF): I don't think that we can disable the close button, right? —DerHexer (Talk) 14:34, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- I don't believe so, and it would be in contrast with our expected usage guideline of "Avoid constant use, to prevent banner blindness as much as possible, and to leave some space to the local community."
- Additionally, we don't have any evidence that I am aware of that exposing someone to a banner more than 5 or 10 times, has any significant return. On most fundraising and campaign banners, the click through rate falls to near zero by that point.
- We also have the evidence that simply inviting readers to read documentation does not lead to significant participation of new editors (i.e. see the background on the Growth Tools: https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Growth ). Have the landing pages been tested as effective for newcomers? Are you leveraging the NewComerHomePage?
- Astinson (WMF) (talk) 16:37, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose As this request only targets the Italian Wikipedia, I would expect a strong consensus to be reached there beforehand the CentralNotice request. I wouldn't really consider this to be consensus. This is not how things are done. --valcio ••• 14:42, 26 April 2024 (UTC)
- Comment Please, first of all, you should open a discussion on the local village pump (see the instructions here). While I totally appreciate the initiative, you should talk with the community before discussing about the banner, thanks. --Superpes15 (talk) 13:56, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose I appreciate your proactivity, but a lot of work should be done before: first of all, you can improve and update pages and guides for newcomers on the Italian Wikipedia. You can also try to enroll some few motivated users, to discuss what strategy to have and next steps to do, starting from the Progetto Coordinamento. You can also start a discussion with Wikimedia Italia or collaborate with them (exemple) if you think it should help. You can also read and translate pages of the Outreach wikimedia wiki. IMHO a single talk at the local Village Pump will not produce a mid-term or a long-term strategy, and a CentralNotice without a strategy will be useless for the goal.--Pątąfişiķ 08:12, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- Oppose Initiatives to promote contributions are always welcome. But: first of all, they shall be discussed and agreed by the local community, in this case it.wiki. Including the identification of the appropriate means to reach a goal. By my experience, as pointed out also by users above, sitenotices like the proposed one are more or less useless for that purpose, by the way. There was not such a local preliminary discussion indeed. So, this is totally an individual initiative of your own, not supported by any community consensus, not resulting from any braing-storming or comparison among alternative proposals. Good will is never a good reason to rush.--Superspritztell me 12:14, 29 April 2024 (UTC)

@DerHexer:, @Martin Urbanec: and @Vermont: Good evening everyone and I'm really sorry to bother you but I want to check if everything is OK with this request since this campaing is about to start. Thank you so much in advance and I remain at your disposal in case there's any questions. Best, --Paula (WDU) (talk) 01:01, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
- Paula (WDU), nothing's been done on our end yet. Sorry for the delay here, and no worries for pinging us. The settings look okay re: language and region, though we generally can't do a full two months. 4 weeks is the longest we generally do, the usual cap is 2.
- I'm also going to hold off on enabling this until we get approval from JBrungs (WMF); according to the calendar there would be some overlap for anonymous editors viewing eswiki in 5 countries. (In the future, please remember to add your banner to the calendar too.)
- I've made a campaign and can make a banner when this is good to go, or someone else can, I'm unfortunately very busy.
- Best regards, Vermont (🐿️—🏳️🌈) 02:42, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for your response, @Vermont. Can you change the scope to something like this? We'd like to be present to everyone using es.wikipedia in every LAC country. We'll be waiting @JBrungs (WMF)'s approval. Thank you both, Paula (WDU) (talk) 03:26, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Paula (WDU),
- Thanks for the ping. Yes, we are running a fundraising campaign until the end of May in CL, CO, MX, PE, UY. This means 75% of non-logged in users will see a fundraising banner first, before they will see your campaign banner. If this is ok with you, I don't see a problem with the campaign as long as CN admins are ok with it. Have a good campaign. Best, JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 04:49, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, @JBrungs (WMF). We were aware and are OK with it. So @DerHexer, @Martin Urbanec and/or @Vermont, could you kindly enable the campaign and the banner so it can be running as soon as possible? Thank you all very much. Best, Paula (WDU) (talk) 12:30, 15 April 2024 (UTC)
- Ok, campaign and banner created, not enabled yet.
- Paula (WDU), while creating the banner I read over the text and event page, and I have some concerns:
- The banner text (en: "Contribute to the knowledge we need for a sustainable future") is quite vague. It's unclear what this is a banner for, it could be anything from fundraising to advocacy. But, it's an editing event, and that should be clear for people who click on this.
- You've requested this be shown to logged-in and anonymous users, and the resources page has some helpful info, but I don't think this is sufficient for the audience. This banner will be shown to people who have never edited before, who may not even know that they can edit. I'd recommend bold, emphasized text on the main event page pointing new contributors to the resources page, and more of a focus on providing support in getting started from the absolute beginning (i.e., registering an account, how to edit, etc.). I also can't find information about contacting the organizers in the event pages.
- Best regards, Vermont (🐿️—🏳️🌈) 20:25, 19 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Vermont, thank you very much for your suggestions. I'll answer your concerns:
- The banner text is the one the global campaign has been using. @Astinson (WMF): is there other phrase we could use?
- I've added a paragraph for beginners in which we invite them to look at the resources page, join the telegram chat (which is included in the event registration tool as well) and to write us by mail in case of doubts.
- I wasn't able to look the banner. It gave me an error but, if you agree with it, we can wait for Alex Stinson's opinions regarding the banner's message. Best, Paula (WDU) (talk) 14:00, 22 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @Vermont the tag line has been working pretty well in the contexts where communities are testing it.
- One way the action could be clarified would be "Add knowledge for a sustainable future to Wikipedia" or something like that -- where its more of an action language, than a tag line. I think we rely a lot on the landing pages to clarify the action with most central notice campaigns, and I trust Paula and team to do that well, Astinson (WMF) (talk) 12:53, 25 April 2024 (UTC)
- @Vermont: we'd like to use the phrase we proposed earlier to be in sync with the global campaign. I've already made the improvements to the landing page you suggested, could you please enable the banner? Thank you very much in advance. Best regards, Paula (WDU) (talk) 15:30, 30 April 2024 (UTC)
- Paula (WDU), I've enabled the campaign to run for 4 weeks: 1 May to 29 May. I also added it to the campaigns calendar. Regards, Vermont (🐿️—🏳️🌈) 23:24, 30 April 2024 (UTC)

- Hi RamzyM (WMF). A few things about the campaign/banner settings before I make it:
- Your request asks this to be run for all logged-in users, but the vast majority of those users are not eligible. We can add some javascript that will limit this to users with more than 300 edits, I'm forgetting whether we can get global edit count or whether we're limited to per-wiki edits. Basically, I'd recommend finding other ways to reach out to people who are not eligible for edit count but may be eligible for the other listed reasons.
- If you want to run this on Catalan projects (your request indicates all languages), please discuss it with the community and report back whether they have approved. This is indicated in the usage guidelines.
- How many languages will this banner be translated into before it is running? We like to avoid showing English banners to non-English speakers.
- Please add your campaign to the CN calendar and requests page. This is steps 3 and 4 of requesting the banner (see the requests page).
- Best regards, Vermont (🐿️—🏳️🌈) 14:04, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Vermont, I've added the campaign to the calendar and requests page.
- Yes, please add the javascript that will limit the banner to users with more than 300 edits across the Wikimedia projects, if possible.
- No, please exclude the Catalan projects.
- We do not budget for a professional translation, since we plan to use a modified version of the U4C charter banner texts (which has been widely translated). We will prioritize calling for volunteer translations into Russian, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Arabic, Japanese, Bengali, Farsi, Ukrainian, Czech, Polish, Italian, Turkish, Korean, Indonesian, Thai, Hindi, Swahili, Hausa, and Hungarian.
- Let me know if you need anything else. Cheers, RamzyM (WMF) (talk) 14:42, 18 April 2024 (UTC)
- @RamzyM (WMF): We can only check the local, not the global count. Still okay? With this number? Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 14:35, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- Should be fine, thanks DerHexer. RamzyM (WMF) (talk) 22:24, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- @RamzyM (WMF): We can only check the local, not the global count. Still okay? With this number? Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 14:35, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Vermont, I've added the campaign to the calendar and requests page.
- @RamzyM (WMF): I've created the campaign and cloned the banner (the 300+ edit limit was added; preview). Of course, I have changed the English text (and also translated into German and marked it as published), however, there are countless of wrong translations now (statistic) and I don't feel very comfortable to enable the campaign with many mistakes. Usually, we start with a new banner text and ask for translations (some of you provided). How do you intend to solve this? Other than that, we are ready to enable the campaign as long as you approve it (please ping me). Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 19:23, 27 April 2024 (UTC)
- To clarify, @DerHexer: the "wrong" translations now are on the U4C charter vote banner, but there is yet a U4C election vote banner? What we were asking was to have a new banner text (set above) based on the U4C charter vote banners, and that we will use the modified versions of its translations for election banner translations. Does this make sense? Happy to follow up, and thanks a lot for your help :) RamzyM (WMF) (talk) 05:56, 28 April 2024 (UTC)
- @RamzyM (WMF): It was a new election banner, cloned from the charter banner. ;) (I've just forgotten to correct the link.) Anyway, I've created a new banner without any other translations here. You can add new translations here. Please ping me when we can enable the campaign. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 08:44, 28 April 2024 (UTC)

Hi, I just wanted you and your colleagues to know that we will be running a fundraising campaign for non logged in users in Brazil until the 13th of April. This means that your banners will be shown to non logged in users only after the user has seen 10 fundraising banner impressions. Let me know if you have any questions or I can help with anything. Best JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 06:02, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

- I added the information. I hope it's correct now. Thank you Lilian Viana (talk) 17:55, 1 March 2024 (UTC)
- @Lilian Viana: Sadly not. Most information is still missing. I think it makes most sense to withdraw this request and start a new one on CNR where it's easier to fill out each line of the request template instead of editing the wikitext here. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 09:41, 2 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hi @DerHexerthank you for your effort to help me. I follow your orientation and I tried to create another request but when I preview it, it was wrong so I didn't create another request (because it will have the same problems). So I edited this request.
- When I tried to create another request, I did this:
- {{subst:CentralNotice/Request/Source
- |Name= Cada Livro Seu Público 2024
- |campaigndescription=Cada Livro Seu Público (eng: Every Book Its Reader) is a campaign to increase quality content about books, literary works, and oral stories in Wikipedia, Wikidata, Wikimedia Commons, Wikibooks, and Wikisource.
- |from =1st April 2024 (I TRIED WITH THE SIMBOLS <> AND WITHOUT THEN AND IN BOTH CASES I CAN'T SEE THE INFORMATION ON PREVIEW)
- |to =30 April 2024
- |projecttarget = Wikipedia
- |languagetarget = Portuguese
- |usertarget =Logged In users and Anonymous Users

- |Metrics=number os bytes added/other
- |bannerchoice=To be determined, waiting visual identity
- |landingpagelink= To be determined
- |granttype= no
- |grantlink=no
- }}
- I saw another requests with the same problems mine have (just one example https://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/CentralNotice/Request/%C2%A1Alto!_Mujeres_Haciendo_historia but there are others like mine on the page). Pelase, if mine is still wrong could you say what is wrong in this example I write down here?

What is the purpose of the campaign? How will you measure the success of the campaign?
All existing national Wikimedia affiliates in the target countries were contacted in advance and were asked about any objections regarding the project including the planned central notice campaign. There were no objections and most affiliates (listed on the target page) also become project partners.

- @Manfred Werner (WMAT): It's easier for us when you provide HTML/CSS/JavaScript; wikimarkup language cannot be used in the banners. I could copy the banners nonetheless.
- Please check everything, approve it and ping me for activation. —DerHexer (Talk) 15:48, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, thank you @DerHexer:, --Manfred Werner (WMAT) (talk) 16:15, 24 April 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry for the little delay of my response. The banners look good and just like we have planned them. I hope the description of the targeting is clear enough in the request above.
- Now I have finally understood that you need HTML/CSS/JavaScript, not Wiki markup, in the drafts for banners. Above I have used an existing example I found when searching for a template to prepare it as good as possible; thus the style and the comments in the source text.
- For now we are thankful that you found the time to handle this request! That's really appreciated. -Manfred Werner (WMAT) (talk) 16:37, 24 April 2024 (UTC)

- Hi, this is a bug report. There doesn't seem to be any way to dismiss these banners? Screenshot at imgur. (i.e. no "X" close icon, as far as I can see). I tested in a logged-out window, too. I hope that helps! Quiddity (talk) 17:04, 24 April 2024 (UTC)

- Hi all,
- Sorry I was OOO for a few days and just saw this. This all looks good but I just wanted to make sure you are aware that we are running fundraising campaigns for non logged in users in Austria, Chile, and Uruguay during the time of your campaign. This means that for 75% of the time, logged out users will first see a fundraising banner for 10 impressions before they will see your banner on Wikipedia. Best, JBrungs (WMF) (talk) 06:17, 29 April 2024 (UTC)
- It's difficult to plan such an event months in advance, especially the start and end dates that have to be coordinated, and also to consider (and avoid collisions with) every possible other campaign that may be happening at the same time in 16 countries. We are glad the banner is online - of course it would be nice if also the logged out users in Austria, Chile and Uruguay get it shown from time to time. But neither our nor the fundraisers campaign can change the timeframes now. We will have to see how it turns out in regard of participation and donations.
- Again, thank you to all of you who helped with this request! --Manfred Werner (WMAT) (talk) 14:24, 1 May 2024 (UTC)

The banner is to promote the Wiki Loves Africa photo campaign. It is a call for participation.
It is pretty much unchanged compared to previous years. The contest is open for 2 months. We run the banner only in Africa (though the contest is open everywhere). Every year, 90% or so of our participants are new (and some are retained there after !), so running the banner for IP addresses is very important as it serves as recruitment system for new participants. The contest runs over all African countries. In some countries (around 30), local teams will organize activities. They are very much in ask for the banners (both because it helps promote the contest in countries where wikipedia is not very well known) and because it makes them feel we take them seriously (and we do of course...).

I had a go at this, but it looks like it's still * a bit* out of my league. Happy to have another CN admin take over. :) Ciell (talk) 19:41, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Anthere and OtuNwachinemere: Can you please provide an SVG version of c:File:Logo + puzzle.svg without white space left and right? This would help us to build the banner. Other than that, Ciell's version looks pretty good to me. Thanks, —DerHexer (Talk) 11:21, 24 February 2024 (UTC)
- @DerHexer@Ciell: Apologies for the delay - you should find the c:File:Logo + puzzle.svg updated with no whitespace included. Please can you proceed. I agree, if we can fix that left logo, then we are good to go!! Thank you, as always, Islahaddow (talk) 11:29, 26 February 2024 (UTC)

- I've created the campaign and attached the banner. As soon as you approve it, we can enable the campaign. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 14:07, 26 February 2024 (UTC)
- @DerHexer - thank you for this. Could you please let me have a link to a visual of the banner. I cannot find a visual on the two links you shared. Perhaps my brain fog is getting the better of me ;-). Thanks again for this monumental work! Islahaddow (talk) 07:43, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
- @DerHexer: to be clear, the 'preview' on the Banner page doesn't seem to work. Hence the problem. Thanks again, Islahaddow (talk) 07:45, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Islahaddow: It's the same link as in Ciell's first message in this section which is why I didn't link it again. —DerHexer (Talk) 07:49, 27 February 2024 (UTC)

- It seems generally good to me. I have checked countries and it seems we are missing ZW (compared to last year). DerHexer ?
- Last year languages were more numerous, this year only en, fr, ar and pt. Which seems fine by me. Anthere (talk) 13:25, 27 February 2024 (UTC)
- @Anthere: I've added ZW and enabled the campaign. “En, Fr, Pt, Ar, African languages (to be specified a bit later...)” is not specific enough so that I could add some more languages. Just let me know what else has to be added. Best, —DerHexer (Talk) 10:47, 28 February 2024 (UTC)
- Yes. Thanks ! We will sort out a list of specific local languages a bit later. Anthere (talk) 13:00, 28 February 2024 (UTC)

We'd like to continue the campaign from last year (request). The banner will only be running for two days before the first Wednesday of each month, and will be targeted to users with less than 100 edits. Jon Harald Søby (WMNO) (talk) 08:24, 7 February 2024 (UTC)
- @DerHexer you handled this last year right? Do you have time to coordinate again? Ciell (talk) 18:51, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
- Nope, Jon organized it himself. I hope that he will do it for this year again. ;) And as far as I know, they want to reuse the campaign of last year. —DerHexer (Talk) 19:13, 15 February 2024 (UTC)
