A piped link is a link whose text has been changed to offer a better description of the URL than just its URL. This makes links a little more user-friendly.

For instance:

[[coffehouse setup|How to set up a coffee house]] will show: How to setup a coffee house

The "piped" comes from the | character used to separate the good description from the actual link.
