SUL is in migration

Don't understand why it's not finalized, at least for the 18 wikis on which my name is attached, if not not for the other ~14. Request SUL for "Stevertigo" and that all other sites be attached. Talking to Commons right now about getting that name there. -SV 18:27, 19 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

Hello SV, what do You mean? To be able to create a SUL account does not mean to be allowed to take over all local ones, if they have no edits it should be no problem, see the interwikilinks at SR/SUL for the local requestpages, if the wiki has no local, active bureaucrat You may request right there, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 18:33, 19 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

No interwiki link to wiktionary.

I know that wiktionary has Bureaucrats (albeit only a few), but there is no interwiki link, and as far as I can tell, there is no place to request usurpation there. I approached one of the bureaucrats and he had no idea how I'm supposed to request usurpation either. Are we just supposed to spam all the bureaucrat's talk pages until we find a willing one, or what? Gigs 20:59, 22 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Please just see the "Index of pages where renaming can be requested", which is the last interwikilink in bold where everyone can list any wiki where there are local active bureaucrats and the corresponding requestpages, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 21:09, 22 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. Maybe that link should be moved to the top? Or listed in the instructions? Gigs 17:02, 23 June 2009 (UTC)Reply
That is a good idea, moving it to the top of the links now, best regards, --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 19:16, 23 June 2009 (UTC)Reply

Project shortcut for wikiversity?

What's the project shortcut for Wikiversity? I want to usurp the name E.G. on it.wikiversity. E.G-q. 20:29, 12 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Wikiversity has the shortcut of "v" (no quotes). Your right, we should probably put a list somewhere. James (T|C) 20:33, 12 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

"Rehman" on SUL

Hello. My account was renamed (in December 2009) to Rehman. But soon after the rename, I was not able to login to three accounts (See here). I prefer to delete those accounts (as it has no edits and was auto-created), but I dont exactly know what to request where. Can anyone help? Thanks. Rehman(+) 10:00, 4 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello, the accounts are not autocreated, they are simply not Your accounts and were there before You had been renamed. To request usurp see the links to the local requestpages here on the left at the interwikilinks or leave a local bureaucrat a message. Rename has to be requested locally, since all those wikis have local bureaucrats.

Catch with SUL

Just now, in a moment of boredom, I typed "password" as the password for the Special:MergeAccount interface, and it actually unified some accounts. So now I own some accounts (on mediawiki, + two languages I can't read) without having been renamed. Is that going to be an issue? Is it my fault that their password was "password"? {{Sonia|talk|simpleWP}} 09:13, 7 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Asked simultaneously on Help talk:Unified login but had been already answered there. Br. --birdy geimfyglið (:> )=| 15:45, 7 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

Cancel my account

Moved from frontpage -- Rehman(+) 10:13, 23 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hello. Please cancel my account union - Abender. I mistakenly pressed the association and only later learned of information that a joint account can not be renamed. The fact is that I want to change its name and then create a unified record for all projects. I want to, except to make changes, to begin translating some articles from English Wikipedia in Russian. Thank you in advance for your help. Good luck. (Sorry for bad English, I had to use machine translation. Sorry if I filed a request is not in form. Sorry if I do something wrong done to the filing of a request or not there he has written - my level of English does not allow me to fully understand the conditions that have been written on this page). --78.25.48.19 09:51, 23 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

If some one has you meta-wiki account?

I am ediaz on the English Wikipedia, my home-wiki, Many year ago I have two accounts in ediaz English wiki and ediaz Spanish wiki (here I have some edits)

But recently I will make a meta-wiki account but I see that someone diferent person has ediaz, I like take this account this is possible? How can I make my request?

Useful links: Ediaz [stalktoy] – [cross-wiki edits]
Hi. Since Ediaz's edits here are really old (2 edits, both from 2005) the username can be usurped. Before starting, are both (eswiki and enwiki) accounts yours? --dferg ☎ talk 14:14, 29 October 2010 (UTC)Reply

Usurpation

I want to usurp the following accounts. I hold the SUL of username Animagus and my home wiki is de.wikipedia.org. There are accounts existing on enwiki and skwiki. In my opinion myself created the account on enwiki 2010, but I am not able to log in anymore. All of them have 0 (zero) edits and contributions. --217.87.181.43 04:54, 22 June 2011 (UTC),thank you!Reply

Automatic renaming and later merger

Hello there! I have a question regarding the automatic renaming of accounts due in May. I have a global account, Kazu89, and local accounts named Andreas on three smaller Wikipedias. Since Andreas exists on a few other wikis, thoses accounts will most likely be renamed. Now I wonder: If I manage to get Andreas converted to a SUL, will it be possible later on, to merge both SULs, i.e. Kazu89 and Andreas? I'd rather not give up Andreas as it is a sysop account in those three minor wikis that people can contact if they need any help and one of them is my most active account where people from other wikis contact me. --Kazu89 (talk) 11:20, 30 April 2013 (UTC)Reply

Yes, this will be possible. But if you want to merge Andreas~smallwiki1, Andreas~smallwiki2 etc. with SUL-Kazu89 we might have to usurp Kazu89@smallwiki1, Kazu89@smallwiki2 etc. Thus, you would loose the edits made with these accounts. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 11:23, 30 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
You mean edits made by Kazu89@smallwikiX, right? Not those made by Andreas, I hope.
By the way, could you have a look at Andreas with the SUL Info tool, please? Is there even a chance to get the name? Those marked sysop are mine, also scnwiki and extwiki appear to be mine, though I need to find the passwords for those first. There are some accounts which have made edits in the past but I checked them locally and they've all been inactive for years. Andreas at barwiki made two edits according to SUL Info but none are found locally... --Kazu89 (talk) 11:35, 30 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Yes, edits made by Kazu89@smallwikiX if there are any. And yes, one of your sysop accounts will get the Andreas SUL account (most likely the rmwiki one because it has most edits). But probably, stewards will have to merge some of the other accounts because they might be renamed if they cannot be combined automatically with the SUL account. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 14:27, 30 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
Thanks a lot for your answers, Hexer. Then I will go for SUL-Andreas (if I find out how to). Edits done as Kazu89 at the smaller wikis are negligible; they're only global interwiki fixes and some minor edits when I wasn't aware of being logged in with SUL-Kazu89. Now I'll check how to SULify the Andreas account. --Kazu89 (talk) 14:46, 30 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
So I have to start the merger from e.g. rm.wiki and then it will take over all local Andreas accounts with the same password and create the account at all wikis that don't have such an account. Then I can take over all my Andreas accounts that may have different passwords. And then I have to come back here or go to Wikis with their own stewards and ask for existing Andreas accounts to be renamed so I can take their place. Is that the way? Sorry for the trouble, I just want to do it right... --Kazu89 (talk) 15:11, 30 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
You can only usurp Andreas accounts if you have the same password or email address. The other ones which you cannot access will be renamed away in the SUL finalization process. I doubt that you need to deal with other bureaucrats of wikis. Cheers, —DerHexer (Talk) 15:15, 30 April 2013 (UTC)Reply
