Talk:Translation of the week
Week-definition used
What definition is used for the {{CURRENTWEEK}}? Is it based upon {{Week2}} (ISO 8601, January 4 is always week 1, all weeks are full) or {{Week}} (January 1 is always Week 1, and the weeks split at years end/start). Maybe using {{CURRENTISOWEEK}} is a better option? Nsaa 10:52, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
one week two translations or stop new request
Since there have over 70 requesting article there. I think make two translations in one week is OK, but we need discuss about this. Second, I think should stop new request until there have only 30 articles is queuing.--Flamelai 00:46, 25 February 2009 (UTC)
Is commons a language
One the last two translations I have created categories to gather together the relevant media about the TOTW subject. Any objection if we add "commons:Grand Coulee" to the list of languages? That way others might assist, and it is a good resource for other wikipedias to call on in their translation if they want more varied pictures etc Victuallers 23:36, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
WikiProject Translation at Wikisource
Participants here may be interested in Wikiproject Translation at Wikisource. This is an initiative to both gather existing free content translations and generate new ones in a wiki framework. It is very much in the formation stages, and would benefit from the contributions of many voices. --Eliyak 06:03, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
Five prizes for multi lingual challenge
Wikimedia UK and Derby Museums are offering prizes for a multi-lingual challenge which according to twitter is going to be won by the Catalan editors. The competition is described here and is open until nearly the end of August 2011. Come and see who is in the lead. Victuallers 21:42, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
One week one translation?
Hi, do I see correctly that as of 01/01/2013, we return to the one week-one translation system? Viktorhauk (talk) 09:03, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
- Yes, Candidate articles too few --Shizhao (talk) 01:26, 18 February 2013 (UTC)
If we had more candidates, could we go back to 2 per week? PiRSquared17 (talk) 00:43, 7 June 2013 (UTC)
Move Translation of the week to wikidata?
Move Translation of the week to wikidata?--Shizhao (talk) 12:12, 5 March 2013 (UTC)
- I think it qualifies as "cross-wiki/interlingual coordination", so it can stay here. However, I have no objections to listing the Wikidata item or moving the whole process to Wikidata. πr2 (t • c) 14:18, 4 April 2013 (UTC)
hi, All. Special:MassMessage have onlie. We via MassMessage sent TOTW message?--Shizhao (talk) 14:13, 20 November 2013 (UTC)
I'd like to ask of you to take a look at a Wikimedia IEG grant a few of us over at Wikiproject Medicine are behind. You may likely have heard of the translation of medical articles that is being done (if not please take a look at w:Wikipedia:WikiProject Medicine/Translation Task Force). The goal of the grant is to get the translation and integration process to run smoothly, and to assess which articles are the most important to translate. We've come far at w:Wikipedia:WikiProject Medicine/Translation task force/RTT, but to get further we feel there is need for some form of organization, preferably by someone who can devote significant time to the task.
I'm very hopeful that I can provide real benefit with this grant, as there are so many articles on Wikipedia that could help people all over the world.
It's even more important when you take into account drives such as Wikipedia Zero, and readers who might not have access to any medical information at all can benefit.
Please take a look at the grant page: Medicine Translation Project Community Organizing, and add a comment or give your ideas on how we can best benefit the other Wikipedias.
Thanks, -- CFCF (talk) 21:19, 2 April 2014 (UTC)
