Persona: Daryna, Wiki loves Project Manager

  • Background: Daryna has been working as a Project Manager of Wiki Loves Monuments competition in Wikimedia Ukraine for over 2 years. Her main task a photo competition project manager is to communicate with the participants, local chapter organizational team, jury and the other stakeholders.
  • Goals: Increase the engagement to the Wiki loves monument competition, help the newcomers to feel comfortable and aware of the competition and Wiki commons rules.

Note: The persona is a Project Manager of Wiki Loves Monuments competition, but the same issue is similar for the Project Managers of the other "Wiki Loves ..." competitions in Wiki commons (e. g. Wiki Loves Earth, Wiki Loves Africa, Wiki loves Folklore etc.).

User Story: Wiki Loves Competition Tool

As Daryna, the Wiki Loves Project Manager ...

I want to see in the tool more detailed real-time information about the users, newcomers and photos uploaded day by day

So that I can easily take that information to account and contact with the participants directly and share the feedback if there are any mistakes made as quickly as possible.

User Scenario: Wiki Loves Statistics tool for a Project Manager

User Journey

'Images' column

When Daryna opens the link, she shall be able to click on the 'Images' column and see which photos were uploaded during this day. Some examples of columns which can be useful to display: Image, Upload date (UTC), Categories, Description, User, Dimensions, MPx, Creation time etc.

  • Opportunities: Daryna can see each photo and characteristics in the table (with the user friendly approach) and if there are any invalid data or empty data in the description, categories etc, she as the Project Manager can directly write the user via the Wiki email from the same page (wikiloves.toolforge.org), which saves the time and improve the Project Managers quality of work.

Note: currently in Ukrainian local part of Wiki Loves monuments competition we use such table: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/User:Ahonc/WLM-2023_UA/images/1. So, it's possible to use the similar approach.

'Joiners' column

When Daryna opens the link, she shall be able to click on the 'Joiners' column and see which participants have joined during this day. The table shall consists of the following columns at least: Username (clickable), the date of Registration, the number of uploaded photos (in generally, or it's better to do it during this day) and a link to write to this person via the Wiki email (example: https://wikiloves.toolforge.org/monuments/2023/Ukraine/users)

  • Opportunities: Daryna can write to the person directly from this page via the Wiki email without going to the other links, which saves the time and improve the Project Managers quality of work.

Summary

In this example, the persona of Daryna helps to humanize the user story, providing context for the motivations, opportunities and challenges involved. The user scenario offers a specific, step-by-step look at the task of contributing to https://wikiloves.toolforge.org/, while the user journey explains the expected behavior after implementing the user story and the opportunities it may give to the Project manager who is using the tool. This integration of persona, scenario, and journey provides a comprehensive understanding of the user experience, facilitating more empathetic and effective design and planning.
