WikiGap Challenge

Hi! I noticed that you took part in WikiGap Challenge last year. I just wanted to inform you that we are running the Challenge this year too, to improve the representation of women on Wikipedia! For WikiGap Challenge 2020, the first prize is to go to Geneva and visit UN Human Rights. Writing one of the bonus points articles, about women active in human rights, yields double points in the competition. I hope you join this year too! Best, Eric Luth (WMSE) (talk) 10:42, 9 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your participation in the WikiGap Challenge!

Hi!

Now, we have finalized the results from the WikiGap Challenge. You can find the general and top results here. I want to thank you for your contribution, which together with the other participants have created a tremendous and long lasting impact for the visibility of women on Wikipedia.

We want to give you a barnstar for your participation, to praise your efforts for a better visibility of women on Wikipedia!

We will analyze the challenge and the way it works closely, to see how we can improve it for next year. It would be very valuable for us if you wanted to share your views on the challenge, especially when it comes to: the point system, the focus, and the adding of the list from UN Human Rights. You can send your answers to eric.luth@wikimedia.se!

I hope you found the challenge exciting, and that you want to participate next year as well!

Sunday February 21 Strategic Wikimedia Affiliates Network meeting

We are a mosiac.

The Strategic Wikimedia Affiliates Network (SWAN) is a developing forum for all Wikimedia movement affiliates to share ideas on the Wikimedia 2030 strategy process. It expands on the model of the All-Affiliates Brand Meeting to help lay some of the groundwork for a future Global Council.

Following up on the August, September, October, November, and January SWAN meetings and June's All-Affiliates Brand Meeting, as well as strategic and outreach topics of mutual concern to all affiliates, this month we are meeting on Sunday February 21, and you are all invited to RSVP here.

To help set priorities for the SWAN agenda, and also to help manage which global conversations should be a focus in general, we have set up and invite everyone to participate at this SWAN priorities form.

Possible topics include Community Board seats, Interim Global Council, Strategy prioritization follow-up events, Branding, Universal Code of Conduct, Grant strategy, and WMF CEO search. That is a lot of things, which are most important to cover in our upcoming SWAN meeting?

Following the regular call, in SWAN after hours: Wikimedia Meet Jitsi social event with brainstorming for possible Nano Charter ideas, plus any other topics.

Offline resources for WikiFundi

Hi Anthony

I would love you having a look at WikiAfrica Offline Resources/en, in particular the Spanish section, and suggest recent documents or resources that could be added to this offline package. It will be made available on WikiFundi/2021 as well as on http://kiwix.org many resources meant for offline use ;) If you are aware of resources relevant to local trainers, teachers... please jump in. Anthere (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 16:21, 1 April 2021 (UTC).[reply]

Hello Florence, thanks for this. I'll check this out. The English versions are already a big help of course. Philippines, being an archipelago is comprised of too many diverse languages, but Spanish is one of the foreign languages that I think Filipinos could easily learn. In fact, Chavacano is somewhat similar to Spanish. But as of now, we don't have a version of Chavacano Wiki. Anyway, I'll make use of all the resources here WikiAfrica Offline Resources/en once we conduct the tutorials for teachers this months of April and May. Regards, Kunokuno (talk) 16:32, 1 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I must have missed this Chavacano de Zamboanga Wikipedia. Majority of their words are derivations from Spanish. But syntax are similar to other Philippine Languages. I'm going to post the the links you've sent on their discussion page and let them check it.Kunokuno (talk) 11:29, 23 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]

A big thank you for organizing #WikiForHumanRights! And please give us feedback!

Both UN Human Rights and the WMF team are really grateful. Initial data suggests that this year we doubled the volume of content created and grew the campaign in languages and geographies. This kind of activation only works when we have local-organizers doing targeted outreach to their communities.

We are still learning how to organize this campaign, would like your feedback. Please fill out this survey at: this google form.

We will use the summary of findings and recommendations from the survey for the report on the campaign and for designing next year’s campaign. Our hope is to support more decentralized events, potentially with less experienced organizers -- so we need your help understanding what worked, what didn’t and what kinds of preparation we need to help communities with next year.

Please note that the collected information in this survey will be treated as in WikiForHumanRights Organizer Feedback Privacy Statement.--MBakni (WMF) (talk) 19:13, 15 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Through this small pilot we will be completing pre-beta testing of these new metrics and tool functions. We intend to gather feedback from community stakeholders on the data elements and dashboard functions for improvements before launching an initial public dashboard. I n order to proceed, we must ensure that all pilot participants meet each of the eligibility requirements:

  1. Have an applicable use case during the pilot period (February - March 2022),
  2. Commit to engage during the pilot period, and
  3. Agree to sign a data non-disclosure agreement (NDA) for early data access.

If you meet these requirements, you are now invited to next steps for enrolling in the pilot. In order to help us align virtual sessions with your use case interests and to send you the required NDA, we need you to complete a google survey to share your contact details. Use of the data collected by this survey form will be governed by our published privacy statement. Please complete the survey at your earliest convenience to ensure needed turn-around time for the ongoing pilot. Please also note that we will not be able to associate contact information shared via the google survey with your username we are communicating through here, so we will not be able to know if you have signed up and will switch to contacting pilot participants via the email they share in that survey submission. If you run into any challenges, please message us back, here on your talk page, so that we might assist you. Once again, we thank you for your time and participation.-- NaRay (WMF) (talk) 20:11, 15 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for participation in Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month 2022!

Dear participant!

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for participating in Ukraine's Cultural Diplomacy Month 2022! We are grateful for your willingness to share free knowledge about the people and culture of Ukraine when it is needed the most.

As promised, the organizers want to appreciate your contribution by awarding you a certificate of participation. Please wait for further notifications from me on that issue.

What comes to prizes: because of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, there could be delays in shipping, however, we will definitely get back soon with more information on that.

Take care and stay safe.-- ValentynNefedov (WMUA) (talk) 09:18, 4 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
