Cool historic tool
For inspiration, please see the list of tools hosted on Toolforge or project-specific collections like Wikidata:Tools and Commons:Tools.

Wiki communities around the globe have diverse use cases and technical needs. Volunteer developers are often the first to find and address those use cases. They experiment with new ideas, build local and global solutions and bridge workflow gaps in our software.

There are incredible many great tools out there.

It’s time to celebrate this!

Coolest Tool Award 2019

The first ever Coolest Tool Award ceremony will take place during Wikimania 2019, as part of the Wikimania program. We will recognize the greatest tools in a variety of categories: For example: “Best Commons tool” to recognize the value of tools for a specific project, or “best newcomer” to award the work of a fairly new developer.

The award is organized & selected by the Coolest Tool Academy. Members of the initial 2019 edition are: Birgit, Bodhisattwa, Brooke, Ladsgroup, Srishti, TheDJ, زكريا.

The group should vary from year to year to minimize bias. Folks who are interested in organizing the Coolest Tool Award 2020 are invited to reach out to us :-).
