Administrator access

MIKHEIL@ka.wikiquote

Thank you! —Mikheil Talk 09:41, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

Rschen7754@wikidatawiki

Please close this RFP as successful. Thanks. Techman224Talk 19:51, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

The general leaning of the community is to keep adminship temporary [1] until the RFC on administrators closes [2]. --Rschen7754 19:59, 2 January 2013 (UTC)
Done Granted for 3 months to expire on 2013-04-02. PeterSymonds (talk) 20:06, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

Masahiro Naoi@tl.wikipedia

Not done, please ask your local bureaucrat. --Bencmq (talk) 07:46, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton@ptwikivoyage

I have granted Rodrigo Tetsuo Argenton temporary adminship to assist with the construction of ptwikivoyage, to expire 05 February 2013. PeterSymonds (talk) 23:58, 5 January 2013 (UTC)

Tokvo@frp.wikipedia

There are no active users or speakers on the wiki, there is a bureaucrat, but he only comes there from time to time, mainly to make corrections. There is need for an active administrator. Thank you in advance. Tokvo (talk) 16:56, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Sk!d@wikidata

Unanimous support. Consensus in the community is for three month temporary adminship. Techman224Talk 00:16, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

Bureaucrat access

H.b.sh@fa.wikinews

Hi! H.b.sh in fa.wikinews need a Bureaucrat access. thank you for attention --Ομιλία Sahim 14:42, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Unfortunately this is declined, as there are not enough comments to show that the community really needs additional bureaucrats. Please make use of the steward requests pages in the meantime, and when the community grows, we will be happy to create additional bureaucrats. Many thanks, PeterSymonds (talk) 16:20, 1 January 2013 (UTC)
ok, thank you peter.--Ομιλία Sahim 15:57, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

CheckUser access

MBisanz@enwiki

MBisanz has been appointed to the English Wikipedia's Audit Subcommittee, and requires access to Checkuser (he already has oversight). Could someone please also subscribe him to checkuser-l? Thank you! For the English Wikipedia Arbitration Committee, Hersfold (talk) 04:35, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

Inas@en.wikivoyage

--Inas (talk) 23:16, 13 January 2013 (UTC)

Regardless of the lack of identification as this time, which would be needed and the procedures for that are listed at Steward handbook/email templates#Notification that identification is required, I am declining this request and marking it as Not done. As I have warned on the local page, joint nomination and voting is not proper procedure and it raises a number of questions. Specifically, I do not think it is a appropriate, valid, fair or transparent process. Each candidate should be separately elected. I have already consulted my colleagues and they likewise agree. Snowolf How can I help? 23:22, 13 January 2013 (UTC)
That makes no sense whatsoever. How in the world is it in any way unfair, invalid, or opaque? Unanimous support isn't clear enough? That's absurd. LtPowers (talk) 02:11, 14 January 2013 (UTC)
Hi Lt. It's because the stewards can't be 100% sure that when people were voting support they were voting to elect both candidates. Although it's probably not the case here, someone could have voted to support Peter, who wrote the initial nomination statement for example, but not have really considered whether Inas would be suitable as a CheckUser. Separate voting for each candidate provides the stewards with the assurance that the community does indeed want both candidates elected, and ultimately I can see why this has been done especially because of the nature of the data that Peter and Inas could be handling, extra precautions are quite justified. Oversight access

Sangam@zea.wikipedia

Not done, see the requirements on OS. Snowolf How can I help? 16:31, 2 January 2013 (UTC)

Please remove both bureaucrat and administrator flags of this inactive user. --Jusjih (talk) 12:22, 8 January 2013 (UTC)

Done. --Millosh (talk) 14:13, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
All of the votes in this case are from users with less than 20 edits to the project. I am not sure that this should be enough to remove flags. Snowolf How can I help? 14:17, 8 January 2013 (UTC)
I don't know it is enough for removing the flags. Korean Wikisource isn't inactive project now. At least 2 administrators are active, at least 4 active users(including 2 admins) exist. Although I edited Sitenotice, just 7 days isn't enough time for removing his flag, IMHO. Would you please give our project more time for considering? --Sotiale (talk) 05:37, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
Hm. I fulfilled the request because Jusjih asked. I can give the permissions back or any other steward could do it if the dominant position is not to remove permissions. --Millosh (talk) 12:06, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
I mean, it's not a big deal to give back permissions. But, let's not remove, then give back, then remove again. So, I'll give them back as soon as ko.ws community decides that they should be given back. --Millosh (talk) 12:08, 9 January 2013 (UTC)

PCode@cv.wikipedia

Please remove both bureaucrat and administrator flags of this inactive user. --Jusjih (talk) 19:43, 3 January 2013 (UTC)

  • This wiki has active users and I believe no inactivity policy, so I do not see why this should be a Meta issue. Please try to get the local policy first.--Ymblanter (talk) 19:50, 3 January 2013 (UTC)
The communities have the power to remove admins without an inactivity policy. Snowolf How can I help? 03:10, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
Sure, but there was no reasonable discussion. The user was not notified on-wiki. I am editing that wiki every day and I am familiar with the situation.--Ymblanter (talk) 06:27, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
Why not comment in that local discussion made by Jusjih then? --Bencmq (talk) 11:32, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
I somehow missed it when it started. I will comment now. However, I do not think it is a good idea when someone without any contribution in the project shows up and open a deadminship discussion.--Ymblanter (talk) 11:47, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
What's the reason of your oppose, by the way ? I don't understand much because having inactive users with bureaucrat status could be a security issue if the account was hijacked. Anyway, there will be no problems for this user to have his flags back when he comes back if he still have the approval of the community. -- Quentinv57 (talk) 18:11, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
PCode is a kind of Jimbo Wales of Chavash Wikipedia, a person who founded the project and recruited the editors himself, making it the most successfull of all projects in minor languages spoken in the former USSR. The project is active, there are at least two active admins. If they do not consider his inactivity as a problem and do not respond on the deadmin page, why should Jusjih, without any contribution to the project, single-handedly deadmin PCode? I believe insufficient efforts have been made. Try to contact the admins, ask them whether they know what is going on, they may even contact him off-wiki, ask their opinion, then may be if everybody agrees, deadmin him. But not just like this - first open the discussion, vote for deadminship, then come here and request desysop.--Ymblanter (talk) 18:42, 4 January 2013 (UTC)
This request was posted here before your local response. Being a bureaucrat means responsibility, not honor.--Jusjih (talk) 07:20, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
Sure, it is just your contribution to that project is five edits, all of which are related with this deadminship. Compare it to mine contribution, if you wish. You are just not a member of the community.--Ymblanter (talk) 13:59, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
Ok, now PCode showed up and voted for his deburaucrateship. I asked him a question to confirm it (if I remember correctly, he does not speak English, and this may be an error), but obviously if he does not want to be a bureaucrat I am not going to object.--Ymblanter (talk) 14:06, 9 January 2013 (UTC)
Could you ask PCode to post that here, or are you certain that he is happy with the removal of the crat bit? -- Avi (talk) 22:52, 10 January 2013 (UTC)
Done I will proceed to the removal of permissions per this. If PCode wants to return and to get his tools back, just ask the community opinion and there will be no problem at all for us to give them back. Many thanks to him for helping the project to grow up. -- Quentinv57 (talk) 17:47, 11 January 2013 (UTC)

I think some of the hesitation may come from the fact that you've just been promoted to admin on pa.wiki a month ago per your request, and it might seem that you're not heavily engaged in pa.wiktionary at the moment. Pundit (talk) 14:12, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
And what is the urgency? The fact is that stewards require that a notification be made to the community, which we require to be in place for a minimum of a week, and to this point you have not done it. It would seem that there is an implicit refusal, by your not having done so, when you know that it is a requirement. — billinghurst sDrewth 14:40, 2 September 2012 (UTC)
I'm not requesting rights on the basis of my contributions to pa.wiktionary; I've just started there but as being an experienced user of en.wiki I know the dos and don'ts well so not to worry about anything unusual, vandal etc. from me. I just expressed my interest in improving it in a better way. And yes, notified the community about my interest of being an admin at community portal but as the wiki is yet orphan, the response may rare. Tari Buttar (talk) 12:21, 3 September 2012 (UTC)
Why there is no response to my request? Why it is unnoticed on such a highly watched page? I want this to be come to an end. Please at least tell me, this request is denied, on hold or what? I want a response. If you're waiting for the local community response, I wanna tell you that the response may rare as there is no community, for now. --Tari Buttar (talk) 02:56, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
Apologies if it wasn't clear. The request is currently "in progress". You need to provide a link to the community discussion on your request. Pundit (talk) 11:38, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
I've provided a link to the community discussion in the "discussion" parameter, but the response may rare as there is no community yet. The wiki needs it's first admin (better active of course). --tari Buttar (talk) 11:55, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
Again, sorry if I'm confused or misunderstand (I can't read this alphabet), but it somewhat seems that the discussion page you linked is orphaned (not linked to a village pump, for example). Was it properly advertised? Pundit (talk) 14:33, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
What alphabet, dear? If you talking about the page title I've linked to, then I wanna tell you that, it is the local community portal. And, what you mean by advertised? --tari Buttar (talk) 08:56, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
I mean, linked to (from the announcements, village pump, etc.). I hope you understand that it is up to you to properly explain what you post, how does it satisfy the community discussion criteria, etc. Pundit (talk) 13:34, 8 September 2012 (UTC)
The wiki doesn't have a village pump and for now, I don't think it should have one. I've told earlier that there is no community then which I should satisfied? I just fulfilled the formality by positing there. And, just want this request to come to an end as I'm seeing no one other is interseted in this request and than of stewads I've increased the size more. --tari Buttar (talk) 04:18, 9 September 2012 (UTC)
Dear TariButtar, your admin access is granted temporarily for 3 months. We naturally understand that budding wikis may not have sufficient community to foster a proper discussion. Caution and taking the procedure slowly is also a measure to spot potential discrepancies and concerns, which you as an admin yourself should certainly understand. I hope your community will flourish and soon be able to vote for admins! :) Done Granted for 3 months to expire on 2012-12-10. To prolong your (interface) adminship, please start another election a few days before your temporary access expires, and after a week post your request again to this page. Thanks. Zylbath@got.wikipedia

Hello, I'm asking for expansion of my admin status, thank you. And another question I don't get an answer for at any place at wikipedia. Why is the translation function closed for the gothic wikipedia? And where can I ask to open that again? Zylbath (talk) 14:05, 26 June 2012 (UTC)

On hold until 3 July. I'm afraid I can't answer your question - anyone else here who can? Trijnsteltalk 16:21, 26 June 2012 (UTC)
Seems that I still can translate on translatewiki? Bencmq (talk) 15:03, 27 June 2012 (UTC)
Yeah, it is possible to type in things, but they don't get changed on the wikipedia and when I asked there they just told me, that the function is closed because they used too many latin letters instead of gothic letters. When I told them that I want to use gothic letters aswell and that they should please open the function again, they just said, it's not possible. But the wikipedia can't be developped, when we cannot translate the interface. :/ Zylbath (talk) 11:42, 28 June 2012 (UTC)

Hemant wikikosh@pi.wikipedia.org

I have made several grammatical corrections on Pali wiki main page and other pages, but I see that admin rights are needed for changing many important pages. I would appreciate if you grant me the same. I have good knowledge of Pali and its literature. It would not be out of place to mention that currently sidebar as well as logo of Pali wiki are having serious grammatical mistakes. (To cite the least, logo declares the name of project as विकिपीङिया (=wikipenia) and the tagline declares it as सद्दकोसो i.e. a dictionary. Recent changes is written as नूतन विपरिणामेति (Nūtana vipariṇāmeti), which means 'new modifies' not 'modifications'). Without correction to them it is not possible for a Pali knowing newcomer to stay there for a while, let aside building up of community.
Please let me know if there is any further requirement. For info, I am working as a sysop on Sanskrit wikipedia. -Hemant wikikosh (talk) 07:36, 25 September 2012 (UTC)

We require the community to be consulted. In lieu of finding a better page, please consider placing the message to the community at pi:Wikipedia:Community portal expressing that you are applying for temporary adminship, and seeking the community's thoughts, and affirmation if they support the notion. — billinghurst sDrewth 14:37, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
Okay. ...I've placed the message there. -Hemant wikikosh (talk) 17:10, 26 September 2012 (UTC)
