This of course would be controversial, that is to say if there was a class of users who were automatically entitled to post controversial material without expectation of expungement, and another class of users who might more rightly expect such views to be edited. That is to say, that whether or not such classes of users should exist is in and of itself controversial, even to beg the question of being paradoxical.

While the user category "ambassador" does not have explicit definition, the ordinary usage of the time might be useful as a guideline, should the need for development of this classification prove necessary. Since all ordinary wiki users have the ability to edit articles, create articles, and so on, then in a sense all wiki users have the ability to act as ambassadors in the wiki community. The need for an ambassador class user might arise in the event of complicated disputes that involve controversial issues or points of view, (POV).

Now if an ambassador class is allowed, then a major factor in the acceptance of the legitimacy of such a class would be the criteria for whether or not a user might be included in such a class. The existence of such a class could have both positive and negative implications with respect to the general public perception and acceptance of the wiki. Certain persons might wish to claim ambassador status in effect by declaring that it is an entitlement on account of their status as a member of some class such as: tenured faculty, elected officials, current or former candidates for major elected offices, members of the news media, judges, physicians, certain law enforcement personnel, clergy, persons who hold patents, Nobel prize winners, published authors, artists, or composers.

The publication of a book by a CIA agent under anonymous authorship in June 2004 might also represent the type of work as might also warrant the creation of an ambassador class wiki member. This is because there are certain types of matter which have significant social, literary, or artistic value, the nature of which is such that some authors, editors, or sources might have the need or desire to maintain anonymity. Of course, there is also the de facto ambassador class: those people who have posted to the wiki so many times, or who out of dedication and service have made such a contribution to the continuation of the project, that they simply "earn" the title on the merit thereof.
