It occurs to me that the next phase of LU translation is to make sure pages in every language have the correct tense and up-to-date information. What do you think? I'm less than experienced in getting the message "out there" in translation circles, so I came here to see if you could get the wheels in motion on translation-I and such. :Sorry for the delayed response, I've been rather busy with exams. Personally, I don't think it's as big of a deal to have the "correct tense" &ndash; it's fine keeping the page as an "archive" if it means less work for a bunch of different people. On the wikiversity page, I also made some tweaks to the positioning of the logo and the boxes in orbit. On this portal, I'm using a fixed width of 12em on the boxes in order to force the ones that have long text in them to wrap. Other things I plan on doing are to rework the "Other projects" code to not use duplicate links on the icons and text (and I expect to do a nice on-hover effect). I've done a lot of refactoring of the inline styling into the embedded style sheet and there is more to do on all the portals. The end game to all this will be to pitch a new look and see what people think. Cheers, Jack Merridew 11:01, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

:Yeah, I think I forgot to do wikimedia.org, you're completely right here, I'll do that one now. The noticeable error with both of them was the orbit not being aligned correctly and it looks like you fixed that (though, either Spanish or French is misaligned on the Wikiquote portal, could you look into that?). I'll push all your updates, including Wikiquote (but I'll push another update if you could fix the fr/es issue).

:: Thanks. I know about the alignment issues. The key issue is that the current positioning is working of the top-left (or top-right) corner of a box that varies in width based on the content. As in interim step, I've experimented with fixing the width. A mechanism based on an offset from the center of an ideal point on the "orbit" would be better. There's also the idea of getting away from the orbiting look. A protracted discussion, I'm sure.

:: The load times ("page weight") on the high side are due to too many external style sheets being pulled in that contain stuff that's not being used. Cutting that back will have to be done carefully to make sure nothing needed is lost. On my list. I'm taking a code-first approach. I want to get things under control and flexible before I try and make the more visible changes. I'd like to be syncing in smaller batches as a huge/messy diff is likely to spook folks. Mostly folks used to looking at wiki-text diffs.

I did a bunch of stuff; positioning tweaks to get things looking balanced, refactoring inline css, omitting nbsp/160 entities in lieu of some css to achieve the same effect (exception; wikiversity allows wrap, now). I've also cut a lot of fully-qualified URLs in favor of targeting the top of the subdomains. This allows local control of where a project wants "Main Page" — control by whomever controls the server redirect. zh.wikiquote.org has something different going on; a language variant option, I think. I paused on that one; also leaves the 100+ tier to-do. It seems like Bosnian and Bulgarian need to move up to displace Turkish and French; I may be missing something, though. This will require a 'tag-line' in those languages and tweaks to the positioning to keep things pretty. I'm gonna point teh ninja at this, so he may beat you to it. Some of the tools might simply be procedural -- for instance, defining core languages which could be explicitly used as hub languages; or encouraging people to use offline translation tools as part of their work so that one day we could combine that data into a translation memory. : It doesn't need to be tech, thanks for helping clarify. Most tech solutions have social equivalents and vice-versa. I think some telling changes would be social. Simply stating there are core languages for localization or canonical documents would be a significant change for language issues. Conversely, the proposed idea that all strategic planning be done in English would define how groups are formed and discussions organized. For outreach, wiki and social issues about where presentations (or conference papers) are shared and archived, where event calendars are posted and updated, & how requests to talk are shared are all relevant. I'm confused; Downtime is less translated than Board elections/2009/CentralNotice... yet Downtime is not being actively translated while Board elections/2009/CentralNotice is? Also, a landing page does does not really need a cumbersome setup – look at the format of disambiguation pages on the content wikis, for example. What happens when you have more than two items? I'm sure it's a possibility. A final thing: don't you think a simpler format would be more suitable for the page's eventual purpose of documenting CentralNotices in general (which is only sensible, given the page name)? Your thoughts? &mdash;<strong><span style="font-family:Script MT Bold;color:DarkSlateGray">Anonymous Dissident</span></strong><span style="font-family:Verdana;color:Gray">Talk</span> 04:04, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

:We probably won't have more than two items, but if there is it's specifically setup so we can shrink the columns. Also, if we're going with your point about documenting CentralNotice, then it should definitely be like that. If tons of people are going to be sent there, then we're going to want to have something big that points them in the right direction. They shouldn't get confused by all the text at the bottom and should just get pointed in the right direction, no? ::That is a point I didn't think of... let me get back to you. I'm thinking maybe we should have CentralNotice just be a disambiguation, if we're set on having it be a landing page. It's not usual, but what about CentralNotice (documentation), or Help:CentralNotice for the documentation? A redirect to that can be provided from CentralNotice. That way the problem of "alnders" getting confused will be avoided. Hi Casey,

please don't publish a Centralnotice if it is still marked as proofreading. You've once written in a summary that marking as proofreading isn't necessary for dsb and hsb since I'm the only one who translates Centralnotices. You are right but just therefore I mark Centralnotices as proofreading. I give me a time interval to sharpen my look at the translated text. Thus I can see any errors yet. Well, please don't publish the translated Centralnotice until I've marked it as done. Thanks, --Michawiki 07:32, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

I'm from the German Wikipedia and would like to propose a correction in the above mentioned central notice from Hilf uns mit der Übersetzung to Hilf uns bei der Übersetzung. As it seems, I can't do it myself (can't edit the page). The problem with the sentence is that the verb helfen can be used differently with the prepositions mit and bei: When one says Hilf uns bei der Übersetzung (as proposed), it just means Help us with the translation (Help us to do the translation). When one says Hilf uns mit der Übersetzung it literally means Help us by means of the translation (to achieve something else).

Of course one could ask: Why hasn't anyone else objected until now? I think it's because of a tendency in German, especially in the internet, towards anglicisms combined with the fact that the issue is small (one word) and most people understanding what is meant.

Hi! I understand that the slogans are lowercased, but this creates some misspelling in Turkish. Fundraising 2009/core messages/tr is still uppercase but the slogans published on Vikipedi are lowercase, so I assume this change is done somewhere else. How can we correct the mistakes in lowercasing? Would it be enough if I lowercase the slogans in Fundraising 2009/core messages/tr and it is then re-published? Retrospective translation

Hi Casey,

It occurs to me that the next phase of LU translation is to make sure pages in every language have the correct tense and up-to-date information. What do you think? I'm less than experienced in getting the message "out there" in translation circles, so I came here to see if you could get the wheels in motion on translation-I and such. Cheers, —Anonymous DissidentTalk 23:11, 6 June 2009 (UTC)

Sorry for the delayed response, I've been rather busy with exams. Personally, I don't think it's as big of a deal to have the "correct tense" – it's fine keeping the page as an "archive" if it means less work for a bunch of different people. Do you catch my drift? project portals

Hi. I see you synced a bunch of the work I've done on the project portal pages. I've tried being patient on this. I noticed that you skipped wikiquote and wikiversity citing 'errors'.[1] [2]

I see what happened with wikiquote, but don't see any issue with wikiversity.

I have fixed the first issue and have pushed both of the temp pages further along as I've been doing on others. All seems good to me, and I'll keep pushing things as I have time. You can preview the temp pages using these links:

On the wikiversity page, I also made some tweaks to the positioning of the logo and the boxes in orbit. On this portal, I'm using a fixed width of 12em on the boxes in order to force the ones that have long text in them to wrap. Other things I plan on doing are to rework the "Other projects" code to not use duplicate links on the icons and text (and I expect to do a nice on-hover effect). I've done a lot of refactoring of the inline styling into the embedded style sheet and there is more to do on all the portals. The end game to all this will be to pitch a new look and see what people think. Cheers, Jack Merridew 11:01, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

more

I just did the GFDL=>CC tweak. The changes in the queue are exactly the same as in

Do note the brief chat at talk:www.wikimedia.org template/temp about how I tweaked the ordering slightly. It could easily go back if I've missed something. Cheers, Jack Merridew 11:20, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

You've done a great job at updating all the portals and making them better, I noticed that when I was doing all the updates – they're more standardized and look like they save load time. (This is why I asked MZMcBride if he'd take a look and make the fixes if he could, I'm not that big of a dick that I'd ignore all the work you did. ;-)) The fact that you were watching the pages and noticed these makes things even easier. :D
Yeah, I think I forgot to do wikimedia.org, you're completely right here, I'll do that one now.
Good work on the portals. :-) Cbrown1023 talk 14:22, 18 July 2009 (UTC)
Thanks.
The load times ("page weight") on the high side are due to too many external style sheets being pulled in that contain stuff that's not being used.
I'll bring whichever of the portals are "behind" up to where wikipedia and the ones I've touched in the last few days are and then start the next push. I call it "Kick the can" — always in the right direction. I'll do the fr/es tweaks tomorrow ;) Cheers, Jack Merridew 15:50, 18 July 2009 (UTC)(who can be the biggest dick of them all)
If you want a sync, throw a note on my talk page here or at en.wiki. I'm ninja-like in speed usually. Or something. --MZMcBride 20:46, 18 July 2009 (UTC)

I've updated:

Avoid race-conditions ;) Cheers, Jack Merridew 12:40, 19 July 2009 (UTC)

language and outreach questions

I would like to hear your ideas for improvements - technical, procedural, social - to our current language and outreach tools. If there isn't a list of such things, it would be worth making one.

Some of the tools might simply be procedural -- for instance, defining core languages which could be explicitly used as hub languages; or encouraging people to use offline translation tools as part of their work so that one day we could combine that data into a translation memory. -- sj | help translate |+ 11:36, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

It doesn't need to be tech, thanks for helping clarify. -- sj | help translate |+ 23:11, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

hi translations

Thanks for writing, Cbrown!

I am practicing my hands on wiki translations so I did this and a few pages. Now, I am getting fluent with the process. I am still here and will translate the updation after the elections results and the formation of the board.

In the meantime, it would be helpful if you could guide me about the pages that are most referred to by the visitors, so that I translate them first so that more people get benefitted, or the pages that are admin info related so that more people read and understand them in their own language and feel encouraged to join the en<>hi translation team.

"Actively translating"

I'm confused; Downtime is less translated than Board elections/2009/CentralNotice... yet Downtime is not being actively translated while Board elections/2009/CentralNotice is? Also, a landing page does does not really need a cumbersome setup – look at the format of disambiguation pages on the content wikis, for example. What happens when you have more than two items? I'm sure it's a possibility. A final thing: don't you think a simpler format would be more suitable for the page's eventual purpose of documenting CentralNotices in general (which is only sensible, given the page name)? Your thoughts? —Anonymous DissidentTalk 04:04, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

In fact, /Downtime is in Category:Translations in priority, while Board elections/2009/CentralNotice is not. —Anonymous DissidentTalk 04:09, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
Currently, Downtime is no longer a priority for us as it's in the past and we don't foresee any more planned downtime in the near future. The fact that Downtime is still in that category, is my fualt since I had forgotten to de-categorize the page after the outage. Fixed now. I'll let you guys figure out the formatting for the page however... :-P --Az1568 (talk) 04:47, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
We probably won't have more than two items, but if there is it's specifically setup so we can shrink the columns. Also, if we're going with your point about documenting CentralNotice, then it should definitely be like that. If tons of people are going to be sent there, then we're going to want to have something big that points them in the right direction. They shouldn't get confused by all the text at the bottom and should just get pointed in the right direction, no? Cbrown1023 talk 14:04, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
That is a point I didn't think of... let me get back to you. What do you think? —Anonymous DissidentTalk 21:51, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

Publishing Centralnotice for dsb and hsb

Hi Casey, please don't publish a Centralnotice if it is still marked as proofreading.

If you're going to remember to come back, then sure. :-) For most other languages, no one will proofread the strings and then your work is wasted (it will just sit there the whole time the notice is up). But we'll remember to leave yours there, thanks for translating Micke! Cbrown1023 talk 14:44, 14 August 2009 (UTC)
Yes, of course, I come back because I translate a centralnotice since I don't like untranslated phrases inside translated text :-). I mark the notice as proofreading for myself to avoid double work for you if I make errors because I did it in a hurry. Regards, --Michawiki 18:54, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

Hey Casey,

I removed the recent diffs you added on the identification noticeboard. The diffs should be of Cary's confirmation, so anyone can check an entry anytime. I left the names in until Cary's available. :)

Pathoschild 12:02:49, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

Cary's going to be away, without internet access for over a week so he asked Mike to do it while he's gone (and have me help out). I'm going to ask Mike to try to add them (even if he messes up, it should still be good ;-)). I'm assuming that it will be okay for Mike to be adding, because he's another staff member (the General Counsel) and Cary's designee. If this happens again, Cary should probably send an e-mail to the stewards telling them what'll happen with the ID noticeboard. Cbrown1023 talk 15:01, 19 August 2009 (UTC)

MediaWiki:Centralnotice-shared-help-translate/de

Hello Cbrown1023,

Further reference to illustrate my point can be found (in German) at [3].

Hi. The current heading is somewhat awkward, as 'Vilkårene' means 'the terms'. It would be much better if the definite article is removed, 'Vilkår' is therefore better. Can you move the page? Regards, --Kjetil_r 19:13, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Done, and updated the page title on the translation request: [4]. Cbrown1023 talk 19:42, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

Proofreading

Haha, nice summary :). I know the guys. I also knew that it needs proofreading before publishing but I did not know that this is needed in updates too. Thanks and sorry, --ZaDiak 06:28, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

(I should've put the other Greeks. ;-)) Well, this is a rather large update and Staff can be a complicated page (position titles can be tricky), so that's why this one could probably use proofreading too. It's no problem. Cbrown1023 talk 13:16, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

Ok thanks for the info. I might come back with another question since I plan to gradually become more active in translations here.--ZaDiak 20:40, 27 August 2009 (UTC)

This was a small update I do not think that it needs proofreading if it is still needed please let me know:).--ZaDiak 13:17, 1 September 2009 (UTC)

Interview

Would you like to participate in an interview on Meta? I need another candidate after the previous interviewee retired from Wikipedia. OhanaUnitedTalk page 05:20, 29 August 2009 (UTC)

Sure, I guess I could give it a shot. :-) Cbrown1023 talk 17:18, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
You may answer directly on the page. Feel free to add/delete/modify questions if desired. OhanaUnitedTalk page 03:09, 31 August 2009 (UTC)
User:Lar has added some answers to the page. You can add yours directly to the page if you wish. OhanaUnitedTalk page 02:30, 12 September 2009 (UTC)
I'm really glad he did, I've been working on parts of it off-wiki but it's easier to build off his answers. :-) Cbrown1023 talk 02:32, 12 September 2009 (UTC)

Communications Project- Volunteer Manual

Hi Casey- I'm wondering what the status is of the Volunteer Manual that was started in the Communications Project. I have created (hopefully correctly) a Category for Volunteering. I'd like to encourage categorization of appropriate pages so that we can get a good look at what has been tried across Meta and also direct current interested parties in commenting on some of the ideas that I've been tossing around and hearing in my Wikification process. What do you think? Jennifer Riggs 17:14, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

It's really old (from July 2007). ;-) If you'd like to help revive, that would be awesome – comproj is looking for stuff to do! Also, the category sounds like a good idea to help keep everything together and see what's been tried before and what hasn't. (About your "hopefully correctly", you could try to categorize the category too: Category:Categories. :-)) Cbrown1023 talk 20:28, 2 September 2009 (UTC)
I agree this would be awesome. Cbrown: also a candidate for a mid-level trans priority? -- sj · translate · + 17:20, 15 September 2009 (UTC)
It would need to be updated and cleaned up first. We need to see what kind of document it becomes before we know if it's something we should translate. Cbrown1023 talk 21:30, 15 September 2009 (UTC)

admintools.js breakage

Your admintools.js is broken, leading to this problematic edit: [5]. You want to replace document.write with importScript to avoid this. — Carl (CBM · talk) 11:59, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I disabled it a few days ago. What's the proper code you suggest? importScriptURI? Cbrown1023 talk 19:43, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Hi. Please undo the change of "братских" to "дочерних" there, because there is no Wikimedia mentioned there. A "дочерний проект" is a subproject. Among those which I can understand enough, only the Bulgarian translation says "and the other projects of Wikimedia Foundation". Thanks. --AVRS 13:07, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

It's been done, but in the future please update the translation workspace: strategy:Call for participation/Appeal letter/ru. Cbrown1023 talk 14:21, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. I didn’t recognize it as such. --AVRS 15:13, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Wikimedia Macedonia

Hi. Please, can you add Macedonia Wikimedia in the list of local chapters on Wikimedia, because we were already recognized as a Wikimedia local chapter. Thank you. Best regards.--Kiril Simeonovski 21:19, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

I already e-mailed Brest a long list of information that we need. He said that you guys would discuss the questions/text on Thursday when at your Meetup. Cbrown1023 talk 21:28, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

We met today, and the information that is released is that Brest is Chairman, Kiril Simeonovski is Treasurer, and FlavrSavr is PR vice president. The establishing day of the organization, before getting the approval is 14 March, 2009. We also want to know, is our chapter officially recognized, and if the answer is yes, why this wasn't announced on the main page. Best regards.--Kiril Simeonovski 17:44, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

I think there's a bit of confusion here. The Board announces that a chapter is recognized by passing a resolution. These resolutions are listed on wmf:Resolutions (Wikimedia Macedonia's is here). The text on wmf:Local chapters is written by the chapter itself and is then placed by someone else (usually me). I e-mailed Brest a few days ago for the "Local chapters" text, the chapter address, and a Press contact, he said he's working on getting this information together already. Let's wait for him to e-mail me back. :-) Cbrown1023 talk 19:06, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
I know about the resolution, and I proposed that we are officially recognized, but it is odd for me, because this is not announced. I talked with Brest, and he allowed me to present theese informations. I can tell him to send you an e-mail, in which you can get all informations you want.--Kiril Simeonovski 19:16, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Thank you about the changes. Best regards.--Kiril Simeonovski 11:03, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

No problem, thanks for helping gather the information. :) Cbrown1023 talk 23:54, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Sitenotice no/nb and translation of letter into Norwegian

Hi, the sitenotice is displayed in English for uselang no, could you fix the link no ->nb somewhere :)

Whoops, sorry about that. Fixed. Cbrown1023 talk 19:12, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Secondly, I notice that the Norwegian version of the lettter has not been published, if you could direct me to what is lacking (and where to add it) I might be able to fix it today (but I will not have much wikitime later I'm afraid). Best regards, Finn Rindahl 17:16, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

There are some issues with publishing the translations (on the tech side, not the translator-side), I'll check on it and ask what's up with Norwegian. Thanks for poking me. Cbrown1023 talk 19:12, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
OK, thanks for looking into this. You may want to update http://strategy.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Translation/Call_for_participation/Appeal_letter, presently it shows some languages as published that are not (like Norwegian), and some languages like ready that are published (like German, I didn't fix that since Philippe had just degraded it...) Bit confusing ;) All the best, Finn Rindahl 22:10, 1 October 2009 (UTC)

Hello, I notice that someone edited Template:Translation/Translation requests/WMF/Terms of Use and make it very wrong. Spanish(es), Simplified Chinese(zh-hans), Traditional Chinese(zh-hant) is "missing" now, but actually they have already been published. Maybe there's problem with also the other languages. plz see this. --130.125.105.228 18:21, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Fixed, thanks. Cbrown1023 talk 00:00, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Hello Casey,

Would you be able to let the translators know about this notice? I'd do it myself, but I know you're the go-to guy on translations, and I'm still quite unsure of the process. Thanks for your time. —Anonymous DissidentTalk 23:11, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

(Casey asked me to comment on this because he's busy in real life.) We're actually about to start a translation request for our annual funddrive. While normally we would be happy to send something out, I just don't feel that this request will get the attention that it deserves. :-/ Maybe you could try adding it to Translation requests from Wikimedia community for now? --Az1568 (talk) 01:35, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
Sure, whatever works. I appreciate that the fundraising is significantly more important than the global sysops proposal; I don't want to divert attention. I'll take your advice and add it to translation requests. Regards, —Anonymous DissidentTalk 01:55, 16 October 2009 (UTC)
I highly doubt that we'd want to devote the entire page to the fundraiser. So, I don't see any reason why you can't post it there. :-) --Az1568 (talk) 18:56, 16 October 2009 (UTC)

Taking over account

Hi, I asked the same question to another bureaucrat a week ago and without any reply so I post it to you as well. What is the procedure here on Meta if I would like to take over an account? I have the global account for "Tegel" and there is an account here on Meta created 2007 and with one edit in 2007 with that name. You can find a confirmation that I'm "Tegel" om my swedish User Talk-page here. -- Tegel2 11:20, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

I have already got a reply from another bureaucrat and been referred to Meta:Changing username. -- Tegel2 12:35, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

Gentle poke

On Global sysops/zh#許可權, how can I translate "Bypass global blocks" into Chinese? After fiddling around with it, the best I can do is change those bolded words but not the bulleted points. OhanaUnitedTalk page 06:06, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Sorry for the delayed response, this week's been reaaaaallly crazy. Well, the right name is "globalblock-exempt", so it has to do with being exempt from global blocks. Whoever has that right is not affected by global blocks. Does that help at all? Cbrown1023 talk 01:35, 7 November 2009 (UTC)

Agreement between chapters and Wikimedia Foundation

Hi! I was told by User:Str4nd that Icould contact you with a question about Agreement between chapters and Wikimedia Foundation.I'm the chair of Wikimedia Suomi/Wikimedia Finland and I would need to sign that agreement. Do you know if there is a PDF-version available of the document and who should I send it to once I have signed the agreement. Regards, Samulili 15:06, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

I'm not sure who to contact about this, actually – try asking Chapcom or Erik. Cbrown1023 talk 13:56, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Fundraising - Lower case problems in TR

Or I may give you a list of correctly spelled slogans? İyivikiler... homonihilis // ileti 10:17, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Yes, please adjust them on that page if there are any issues. In a perfect world we would have updated that page, but there's been so many tweaks to the messages that there's been no time. :-( Cbrown1023 talk 21:23, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Please accept my apologies if you took the "bullshit" for you. Nope, it is not oriented to you. But goodness... what a broken fundraiser. Anthere

It's okay, I understand and wasn't offended. Cbrown1023 talk 21:23, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Swedish translations

Per habj in #wikimedia, I've changed the Swedish translations a bit for one of the banners (see here and here). I'm notifying you in case some translation page needs to be updated or something. --MZMcBride 17:05, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Per Kaare in #wikimedia, just see my contribs in the MediaWiki namespace. --MZMcBride 17:16, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks, they should actually be updating the translation pages themselves and then asking us to sync their messages... but that's just how it should happen... Cbrown1023 talk 21:24, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Posted at AZ about it earlier today (CET), but this one should probably be fixed as well - "probably" pending if it is used somewhere after a dot - if not it should definitely be all lowercase. Finn Rindahl 17:38, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Looks like it's been done. Cbrown1023 talk 21:24, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Nope, should be "for alltid", not "For alltid (unless it is used as a beginning of a sentence somewhere). Finn Rindahl 21:35, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
Oh, okay, done now. Cbrown1023 talk 21:38, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Corrections

Please correct the following:

If they should be lower case then why they weren't lower case in the translation page? --Geraki TL 22:03, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Done. They weren't lowercase on the translation page because we ended up lowercasing them all after we launched and then "un-launched". People really didn't like the capitalization so we get rid of it. Cbrown1023 talk 22:07, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
It's not simple for all languages :-) (in greek we never use punctuation in all-uppercase texts).
There is still some banner with "Για Παντα" text (no punctuation).
The bannner from el.wikipedia leads to the english donation page, although there is a greek one. What should be done?
--Geraki TL 09:19, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
I've fixed the link issue, please let me know if there's still a problem. What's the issue with the «"Για Παντα" text (no punctuation)»? Cbrown1023 talk 13:45, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Button target

Button "Donate" (donacu) in sitenotice in eo:wp opens support page in French ( http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Global_Support/fr )instead in Esperanto ( http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Monkolektado ). I don't wher to correct that. Could you do it ? Thx Arno Lagrange  12:13, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

That's because you're in France and get sent to the WMFR chapter page. If you weren't in France, you'd get to sent to the Esperanto page. If you had an American IP (i.e. 74.103.170.47, you'd get sent to the eo page properly. Cbrown1023 talk 13:38, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Paypal redirectpage /nb

Hi, http://wikimediafoundation.org/wiki/Special:ContributionTracking/nb (link doesn't work, but that's where my browser told me I was) now reads "Om du ikke omdirigeres automatsik, klikk på knappen for å gjennomføre donasjonen hos PayPal. " - this should be "Om du ikke omdirigeres automatisk, klikk på knappen for å gjennomføre donasjonen hos PayPal.", i.e. automatisk instead of automatsik. This is the page that redirects you when you're trying to give through PayPal, couldn't figure out where the source for that page was... Regards, Finn Rindahl 12:38, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

Hey Finn, this is one of the things we're translating on Translatewiki (it's a MediaWiki extension). It looks like the Translatewiki team did something with the extension names... I don't know where that string is now, I'm asking. Cbrown1023 talk 13:55, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
