[Imagining AI Governance in ESEAP: Malaysia Government Plan and Wikimedia Engagement]

Abstract/description

The Wikimedia Project utilize AI to enhance community participation in knowledge creation, however robust development of AI also pose gobernance and policy risks if its being done without centering human decision making and digital commons. The session will explore the government agenda on AI governance and think about ways for the community to contributes to it.

(Sample) The Wikimedia communities in the ESEAP region are actively engaged in the planning stages for the establishment of a Hub. The development of this Hub will require the dedication and involvement of every chapter, user group, and community in the region.

Relationship to ESEAP or to the theme

ESEAP community is key to policy development on internet within the region. Therefore it is necessary to gain insight of the community in the development of AI governance regulation in the ESEAP region.
