== Namespace naming changes ==

We're discussing changes related to renaming some namespaces and system messages for the Mongolian Wikipedia as part of a drive to improve consistency in translations/content. In the event of a change in namespace, I presume all links to the old ones (such as category, talk pages etc.) would fail? How can we best manage this - we have the option to run a bot to automate and replace everything - but could we request, say, some custom namespace aliases? [[User:Chinneeb|<font color="#000000">chinneeb</font>]]-[[User_talk:Chinneeb|<font color="#000000">talk</font>]] 13:14, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
:{{ping|Chinneeb}} Namespace aliases are possible per [[wikitech:Wikimedia site requests#Change a namespace]]. For requesting changes itself, see [[m:Requesting wiki configuration changes]]. --[[User:AKlapper (WMF)|AKlapper (WMF)]] ([[User talk:AKlapper (WMF)|talk]]) 14:44, 6 December 2022 (UTC)

Hi, kindly assist me with the Home page & Community Process page for [[Wikipedia In Residence Community|Code for Africa wiki-meta page]]. The Community Process page is a repetition of the Home page, keep the community page but it should be empty and let information on Home page be maintained. Also when this has been fixed kindly show me how it is done or if there is a documentation available let me have it. Thanks [[User:Jwale2|Jwale2]] ([[User talk:Jwale2|talk]]) 17:35, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
:{{ping|Jwale2}} Hi, could you elaborate please what exactly to assist with or "fix"? What happens currently, and what do you expect to happen instead? If you refer to the navigation header, you can edit its links on [[Template:Wikipedia In Residence Community]], however I'm not sure why you'd want to link empty pages, or have duplicated pages? But maybe I misunderstand... Thanks, --[[User:AKlapper (WMF)|AKlapper (WMF)]] ([[User talk:AKlapper (WMF)|talk]]) 19:02, 6 December 2022 (UTC)
::Hi @[[User:AKlapper (WMF)|AKlapper (WMF)]], what I meant was that when you click on the Community Process page you will be redirected to the home page, it provides you the same information as the home page. when you check the edit page for both, they provide <nowiki>{{Wikipedia In Residence Community|active=1}}</nowiki>, instead of <nowiki>{{Wikipedia In Residence Community|active=1}}</nowiki> and <nowiki>{{Wikipedia In Residence Community|active=2}}</nowiki>. if there could be something done to make the changes that will be great. :::{{ping|Jwale2}} You could rename the Home page to Community Process page. Problem solved and way less confusion ("Why does the Community Process page bring me to the home page? I'm a new admin for a wiki I've created to host an evolving ethical will where I will be, at least for now, the only author. == MediaWiki REST API vs. MediaWiki Action API vs. WikiMedia API. Is there a standard one to use? ==

My goal is to retrieve specific revisions of wikipedia pages. I've read through the following 3 API documentation, and they are all capable of doing what I need. Is there one that is considered standard, or is the most actively developed?

1. [[mw:API:REST_API|MediaWiki REST API]]

2. [[mw:API:Main_page|MediaWiki Action API]]

3. [https://api.wikimedia.org/wiki/API_reference WikiMedia API] [[User:Edgedsurf|Edgedsurf]] ([[User talk:Edgedsurf|talk]]) 18:34, 11 December 2022 (UTC)

:@[[User:Edgedsurf|Edgedsurf]]: The Action API is the most mature and offers the most flexibility in what kinds of data to get and filter. If you want to get wikitext of specific revisions, it's a good choice. The MediaWiki REST API is still pretty new, it is aiming to replace the [[mw:Wikimedia_REST_API|Wikimedia REST API]], which is good for concurrent access if you want [[mw:Specs/HTML|annotated HTML output]].
:I hope this clarifies things a bit and is able to point you in the right direction. [[User:Legoktm|Legoktm]] ([[User talk:Legoktm|talk]]) 19:15, 11 December 2022 (UTC)

== Adding a white box to the top of the screen ==

How can I add a white box to the top of the page with JS? Because I've made it so that the personal links and searchbar will follow the screen when I scroll down, and it sometimes gets hard to read the links when there is writing behind it. Thanks. {{User:L10nM4st3r/sig.css}} 11:09, 27 December 2022 (UTC)
:Does this sound more complex than it is? Basically I want to know how to make a box using JS and add it to the very top of the page (that last bit I can figure out myself though). {{User:L10nM4st3r/sig.css}} 09:56, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
::Which page? Why JavaScript instead of HTML and CSS? What is the actual underlying problem you want to solve and in which skin (instead of only asking how to implement a possible solution)? --[[User:AKlapper (WMF)|AKlapper (WMF)]] ([[User talk:AKlapper (WMF)|talk]]) 12:34, 31 December 2022 (UTC)
:::Ive made the personal links at the top of the page stay at the top even as I scroll down (using css), but I want to add a background so that it can be read, instead of seeing a mess with the content being below it, which makes it really hard to read. (yes, now JS works for me, before you ask){{User:L10nM4st3r/sig.css}} 14:39, 31 December 2022 (UTC)

:::::I'm using Monobook for reasons... I cant actually remember xD! When I tried setting the background-color of #p-personal, nothing happened. ::::::Yea, I'm just a stubborn lion, so I'm staying on the more familliar looks. Ive used monobook for god knows how long, why change it now? {{User:L10nM4st3r/sig.css}} 22:58, 31 December 2022 (UTC)

== Unusual behavior of Infobox in Santali Wikipedia ==

Hi, it's being more than 3 months now and I think there is something wrong with infobox in Santali Wikipedia. Compare infobox in English - [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narendra_Modi Narendra Modi] (Normal info) and Santali - [https://sat.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E1%B1%B1%E1%B1%9A%E1%B1%A8%E1%B1%AE%E1%B1%B1%E1%B1%AB%E1%B1%BD%E1%B1%A8%E1%B1%9A_%E1%B1%A2%E1%B1%B3%E1%B1%AB%E1%B1%A4 ᱱᱚᱨᱮᱱᱫᱽᱨᱚ ᱢᱳᱫᱤ] (infobox widened in desktop mode). But, it seems to work normal with mobile minerva theme (mobile view). I have still no idea where is the problem. Is it a new feature or a technical issue.
