Nederlands: De Sint-Gummarusprocessie is een processie in Lier, die elk jaar plaatsvindt op de eerste zondag na 10 oktober. De processie vindt plaats ter ere van de Lierse patroonheilige Sint-Gummarus (feestdag op 11 oktober).
In de stoet gaat het zilveren reliekschrijn dat de resten van de Heilige Gummarus bevat mee. Het schrijn weegt meer dan 800 kg. De "Kas" - hoe ze ook wel wordt genoemd - wordt door zestien leden van het "Genootschap van de Kasdragers" door de Lierse straten gedragen. De feestelijkheden bestaan uit een hoogmis in de Sint-Gummaruskerk om 10 uur en om 11 uur de processie zelf. Tijdens de noveen rond de feestdag van Sint-Gummarus wordt het schrijn tentoongesteld in de Sint-Gummaruskerk. Van heinde en verre komen bedevaarders genezing vragen voor kwalijke breuken en zijn hulp afsmeken om gevrijwaard te blijven van fracturen. Tijdens de missen rond de feestdag van de heilige Gummarus legt de priester bij het uitspreken van de zegening de gordel van Sint-Gummarus op de schouders van de misganger. Dit is het ritueel van de bandoplegging. |
