Project summary

Briefly summarize your project proposal.

Anambra State POLYTECHNIC MGBAKWU is a State POLYTECHNIC yet to know about Wikipedia and it's Sister projects. The idea of this project in this institution is to create awareness, sensitize and recruit new editors to know about Wikipedia as a free knowledge base platform so as to help improve the quality, credibility and reliability of Wikipedia and it's Sister projects; And also giving the institution/students and lecturers an online presence on Wikipedia. This project will help them know they can source information and material from Wikipedia and it's Sister projects and also help in contributing in the sum of all human knowledge by documenting their language, culture, environment,climate etc, making them visible to the world.

The project plan and activities

This will be a two days event, Edit a thon and follow up. We will create awareness weeks before the event to invite students to the event. On day 1, We will Sensitize the students and lectures on Wikipedia, it's credibility,readibility and reliability. Day 2,we will teach them the basics of editing Wikimedia projects and we will have them edit Wikimedia project pages, adding informations about their languages, environment and culture. We will also include a contest which the prizes will motivate them more to contribute to free knowledge.
