This page hosts requests for admin, bureaucrat, or CheckUser access to a Wikimedia wiki which does not have a local procedure. If your wiki has a bureaucrat, please use the requests for adminship page on that wiki instead. When you request here a change of user rights do this after local community approval is given and include the link to it. So first ask it at your home-wiki, then here on Meta.

For urgent access (to combat ongoing large-scale vandalism), you may ask on the #wikimedia-stewards IRC channel instead. For bot requests, see Requests for bot status. For spam whitelist/blacklist requests, see Talk:Spam blacklist.

Stewards: all requests presented here should be archived when fulfilled.

Boilerplate Request for Permissions

The text below is a template for requesting specific permissions on a wiki. Please copy it and complete the three required points, plus other salient information.

===== Project name =====

I request sysop access on ''ps.wikipedia'':

*'''Language Code:''' ps
*'''Local Request Link:''' [[ps:Project:wikipedia]]
*'''Local User Page:''' [[ps:User:waliachakzai]]

Thank you. ~~~~

Notes:

  1. Be sure to complete the information as requested. Without it, a steward cannot process the request.
  2. Please add the request here after the community approval.
  3. Be aware that local request page (RfA) may not be the same with the administrators page.

Current Requests

Please place your request at the end of the appropriate section below, and state in the heading which project you are referring to. All requests for permissions are subject to approval by the local community, and any unauthorised permissions will be revoked upon complaint.

Please remember to inform your community of your request. A steward will notify you when the request is processed.

Beware of sockpuppetters and imposters, always ask for a confirmation edit on the destination wiki.

Oversight rights for English Wikipedia

Note to Stewards: When you give someone Oversight, please list them on Hiding revisions. Thanks.

Note to those requesting Oversight: Do not request Oversight rights here; this is where the Arbitration Committee makes usergroup membership requests once they have agreed to give someone Oversight access. Thanks.

CheckUser rights

To ask for a steward to answer one of your request, see Request for CheckUser information.

Note to Stewards: when someone ask a CheckUser status, please check the current policy of attribution of status before giving this status. When you give someone CheckUser, please list them on CheckUser. Thanks.

According to policy, there is no TEMPORARY status of checkuser. Either there are already checkuser on a project and these people must be asked to do the checkuser. Or there is nobody and a steward must do it. Giving a temporary status to anyone just simply asking it to a steward, with no agreement from the local community is against the checkuser status rules. Giving it with no request mentioned anywhere is even more problematic. Breaching these rules should imply removing the status of the steward if he can not be trusted to follow commonly accepted rules. If any one has a problem with this rule and wish that from now on, checkuser status be given to anyone without any community discussion, he must have the current rules changed, not breach them. Thanks Anthere 03:24, 23 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Note: When giving someone checkuser, please (a) ask them to subscribe to checkuser-l and (b) email checkuser-l-owner@wikipedia.org so that the listadmins know the person is allowed on the mailing list. (The list may contain confidential information.) - David Gerard 15:22, 31 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Any request made in a different paragraph than this one should not be considered.

There seems not be a lot of live in that wiki. But better ask it first there. Write on some public page that you would like to become sysop and of anybody has a problem with that. Wait 2 weeks and then ask it here again and include the link to that page where you asked it. --Walter 11:34, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I request sysop access on am.wikipedia on behalf of am:User:Tatari

I am one of the two sysops at the Amharic wikipedia. We have both agreed that Tatari can join us as a third, as he has been posting and contributing in Amharic. (Note: As senior sysop, I am also requesting below to be made a bureaucrat so this can be handled internally next time around)

Scots Wikipedia

I request bureaucrat access on sco.wikipedia for sco:User:Mendor:

Sco currently has no bureaucrats and just two admins (of whom I am one and he is the other). In order to create more admins we need a bureaucrat. -- Derek Ross 04:58, 17 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The vote finishes in July 24th, please don't request here until the vote results are ready. -Romihaitza 07:10, 20 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
And I'm sure that my request will still be here at that point. All that I have done is to follow the instructions for this page. If you are unhappy with the results, I suggest that you change the instructions. -- Derek Ross 19:13, 23 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well there are more than 2 regular editors and I can name at least one Wikipedia with even less of a community and a bureaucrat so I am not quite sure what you mean. Perhaps you can point me to the policy that states the minimum size required or something because the only criterion I can find is the one that states "If your wiki does not have any bureaucrats, you can make your application at requests for permissions" on the bureaucrat page and the Scots Wikipedia certainly meets the "has no bureaucrats" criterion. -- Derek Ross 05:47, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Amharic Wikipedia

I request bureaucrat access on am.wikipedia for am:User:Codex Sinaiticus:

Our wikipedia is still small (345 articles), no bureaucrat, I am the first of two sysops, but we now have a candidate for third sysop (filed above). This will give the capability to promote future candidates to sysop internally. Thank you! Codex Sinaiticus 16:11, 1 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Bureaucrats for Wikibooks

English Wikibooks

I, user Whiteknight, at english wikibooks would like to request bureaucrat permissions. There has already been a vote at Requests for adminship, where I have gotten unanimous support, and that support has remained, unchallenged, for over two weeks. Our only other bureaucrat, according to a message on his userpage, is away until August 15th.

Thank you. --Whiteknight 20:25, 2 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm wondering if there is any particular reason why I have not been given a yes or no decision on this matter in nearly a week. I have provided all the required information. --Whiteknight 14:02, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removal of access

Self-de-adminship can be requested here, and will be granted immediately. You may be asked to prove you are the same user on meta as on your local wiki first, by putting information on your talk page on your local wiki, that you're requesting de-adminship.

To request the removal of sysop access from another user, please gain consensus on this on your own wiki first. All discussion must be kept on your local wiki. When it is finished and there is a community consensus to desysop a user, a trusted person from that wiki should just provide a link here to the discussion and a very brief explanation of what the results of that were.

Please do not open discussions here about rights.

desysoping at Serbian Wikpedia

User:Славен Косановић (Slaven Kosanović in Latin), an administrator and bureaucrat has been forced to block himself for abusing admin powers (discussed here). He has done so, and blocked himself for 3 months (link) as a preliminary measure to the removal of Admin powers; under strict rules not to unblock himself.

After 7 hours, he has indeed unblocked himself (link), and stated that he changed his mind (link). I request for his admin powers to be removed. Thank you. --WIKI SERBIA 01:15, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I can not grant this request. You do not indicate who you are. I can not find a user "WikiSerbia" on sr-wiki. I can not read anthing there. 1) indicate who you are and linkt to your userpage 2) write on a suitable page on the SR.wiki also in English that you request de-sysoping of this user. Make a saperation between sysops, bureacratas and users and ask some of them to support this. When I know who is requesting it and that it gets support by serious people of your wiki then I can desysop that user.--Walter 09:53, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
First of all, I have given the neccessary links for the reasons on why this user needs to be desysoped. He had to block himself for 3 months (in the block reason, he himself has listed: "троловање пројекта и позивање на лични рат" (translation: "trolling of the project, and calling for a personal war")). We did not have a vote, because he didn't want one, and agreed to block himself for 3 months (but was basically forced, I have also provided a link), under the strict rules not to unblock himself. He has unblocked himself, I have provided links. Now, the question is whether you want us to go through a lengthy process of removing his powers through voting, or just remove his powers, as has been agreed. Furthermore, I do not see the reason for listing my identity, I am just the messenger, the links are here to demonstrate what we are requesting. If you want confirmation from other administrators, I will request for them to do that here, thank you. :) --WIKI SERBIA 17:42, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Desysop User:Dangherous on English Wiktionary

As per locla custom, User:Dangherous imitated Wonderfool by deleting Main Page rather than properly requesting de-sysoping (with the comment "going out with a bang.") It is not known at this time, if the account was compromised, or if it is a genuine request. --Connel MacKenzie 20:31, 6 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

noooooooo. Too fast, too fast. He was very good admin, nor reason to desysop! --WarX 18:26, 7 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Odder queried me in chat yesterday night and asked for desysopping even before of leaving a request here. I asked him to kindly leave his request here and a confirmation on his talk page on pl.wiki before proceeding. Being a request coming from the user himself, I saw no obstacles, though I never like removing anyone's sysop rights. --Paginazero - Ø 06:49, 8 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Current temporary permissions for emergency or technical purposes

Please add here new requests. The approved requests can be found at /Approved temporary ordered by the period granted. Please do not archive temporary granted until the permissions are removed. Stewards, when granting, please mention the date of removal.

If you are requesting sysop-status to make a translation of the wiki see then also at the BetaWiki-project. That is a project for making a neutral MediaWiki translation that then will be default for all wikis. That is more usefull then making only a local translation.
