Review your report

Project Goal

Briefly explain what are you trying to accomplish with this project, or what do you expect will change as a result of this grant. Example goals include, "recruit new editors", "add high quality content", or "train existing editors on a specific skill".

I and User:Ibraheem8088 are expert in sound engineering, we upload many audio files to Wikimedia Commons, We realized that alot of audio files are needed in Wikimedia Commons, especially language audio files that can be used in local Wikitionary and Wikipedia, I and User:Ibraheem8088 decided to carry out a project to increase users that will join our course, as We can't do it alone, our numbers is very low.

So this project will train users on how to create audio files by themselves, convert those files to the desired extension format .ogg/.acc e.t.c, and to make use of it in words needing audio files in Wikitionary.

Moreover, we understand that some users are willing to contribute with audio files but despite the fact that they don't know how to use their computers, smartphones to record and convert audio files, they find it very difficult to upload audio files to Wikimedia Commons, not knowing that Wikimedia Commons doesn't accept .mp3 extension format, hopefully this project will resolve this issue.

Goals

In this project I wish to accomplish the following six goals at the end of this project.

  • To upload 500 audio files into Wikimedia Commons by new and existing users.
  • Recruit 20 new audio users or sound engineers.
  • Train existing and new users on how to make recording, conversation and uploading audio files into Wikimedia Commons.
  • Train existing and new users on how to link audio files to Wikimedia projects, especially Wikitionary and Wikipedia.
  • Link 50 audio files to words in Wikitionary.
  • Improve words in Wikitionary with audio files.

Project Plan

Activities

Tell us how you'll carry out your project. What will you and other organizers spend your time doing?

I and user:Ibraheem8088 Will spend our time training new and existing users on how to record convert and upload audio files in to Wikimedia Commons.

How will you let others in your community know about your project (please provide links to where relevant communities have been notified of your proposal, and to any other relevant community discussions)?

We have notified community users in Wikimedia Commons to join this project Commons.

Why are you targeting a specific audience?

We target audience from Wikimedia Commons and Wikitionary because; audience from Wikimedia Commons will be the ones to acquire the basic knowledge of recording, conversation and uploading audio files, and to keep on uploading at the end of the projects, while users from Wikitionary will be the ones that will be linking audio files into several words needing audio, we target Wikitionary audience also, because every word needs pronunciation.

What will you have done at the end of your project? How will you follow-up with people that are involved with your project?

We will make sure that each an every user keeps on making contribution into Wikimedia Commons, those that needs time to catch up will be stayed in touch.

We will create a WhatsApp group to stay in touch with those that are involved in our projects.

Are you running any in-person events or activities? If so, you will need to complete the steps outlined on the Risk Assessment protocol related to COVID-19. When you have completed these steps, please provide a link to your completed copy of the risk assessment tool below:
