This page is for requesting the creation of a user account on the Wikimedia Foundation's website (not on any other wiki).
  1. To ensure that users are already familiar with the policies of at least one Wikimedia project, only administrators or foundation committee members may apply for an account. If you are not already an administrator, please see the request for adminship page on your local wiki (this should be linked from Wikimedia projects). Creation of an account is not automatic and is subject to approval by the Board of Trustees.
  2. To ensure that requests are authenticated and not forged, only registered users on meta can submit requests. Also, please keep this page on your watchlist and check back on your request. You may be asked for more information before a request is accepted or rejected, and your request may be rejected if you are not available to respond.

Please provide:

  • your username. For example, Username, [[:xx.project.namespace:User name]]
    • It/they would be linked to the appropriate Wikimedia project (see Help:Interwiki linking) including at least one project you are granted sysopship unless you are not a sysop but certain committee member
    and/or
  • your committee(s)
  • your valid email address
  • the reason(s) you need an account
  • your signature with data; you know how-to already ;p

Please note, you don't need an account to translate pages. All translation is being done here on meta, since we expect that all translations appear on foundation wiki just after once completed. Also, If you are not already involved into translation, requests offering translation tend to be rejected due to lacking of sigh of involvement. See Translation requests for further information.

Your aim sounds good but not necessarily relevant to have an account on the Foundation wiki, which it is a promo wiki, not discussion wiki. To have contact with the Foundation, you only need to subscribe foundation-l and communicate with the involved people. You may want to put your suggestions to the mailinglist.

well... let me share a little think... i study engineer not because i "wanna be engineer"... that is no important for me... i only study because i wanna have some "level and voice" for the people recognize my motivation, ideas an work, and in the future, has the social-power to can do good things... if i need to participate on a mailing list to contribute (i must say, mailing list is a poor idea), so... im not interesed. im gonna continue developing my idea.... by myself... and of course, complementing wikipedia esp.

Thank you for your comment. I am afraid you misunderstand what is requirement. There is no relevance between local flag and your involvement into Foundation activities; Sysopship is a minimum criteria for people we don't know closely. Also, he contacted me as Transcom chair already, and began to involve our activities, I think, both he and I need no other person's endorsement. Hello! I am a sysop at the Norwegian Wikiquote and Wiktionary as well as an administrator of the Esperanto-komunumo, Slekt og familier, and Town-titles wikicities. I have made over 2,000 article contributions in each of the Esperanto and Norwegian wikipedias. Now I'd like to start a Norwegian variant of the Wikimedia Foundation site and see if I can find the time to contribute a little.

I'm currently an admin at Wikipedia and at Wikisource where the bulk of my work has been concentrated and am looking to go to my first WikiMeet in Birmingham in January. As a UK citizen, I'm looking to help the UK Chapter set up shop, and hope to help Wikimedia reclaim some tax relief on the donations (Gift Aid). お申し出ありがとうございます。copyedit については、upload 前に meta で作業をしているものについても御配慮いただければありがたいです。サイトの内容をなるべく一定に保つため、緊要の場合を除き、編集はこちらでしておりますので。
copyedit 以外に、TR/WMF@Meta と WMF の内容の統一性を保つ作業があって、これが案外なおざりになりがちです。copyedit を向こうで行っていただいた場合には、meta の英文原稿にも同じ変更を反映させる必要があります（でないと古い内容で翻訳が作られることになりがちです）。あちらで copyedit をしたいという方は多いのですが、また copyedit だけならさほど問題はないのですが、重大な内容の変更をした場合でも、meta の TR との一貫性を保つということには関心のない方が多く、そうしますとかえって翻訳関係者の作業量が増大したり、他言語との齟齬が増幅したりということにこれまで残念ながらなってきております。ですので、わたくし個人といたしましては、あちらでの編集にだけ関心があるという英語話者の方のアカウント申請には、やや慎重な態度をとりたいと考えております。
