No section edits on this page

That much I knew, but there are no edit links!

Ah, I see, the "Submit a new comment" link takes you to a sub-page (Wikimedia site feedback/main) which is still editable, so creating a new section works. But when I come back to Wikimedia site feedback I'm left without section edit buttons, because that page is locked. Only when I reload the Wikimedia site feedback/main link indirectly I can edit. Perhaps the database was locked for routine maintenance (it happens on occasion, and usually lasts about three to four minutes). You should see "[ edit ]" to the right of the headings (such as the one for this section) that allows you to edit just that section. EVula // talk // ☯ // 21:05, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

EVula, test it while logged out. He doesn't see the section edit links because that page is fully-protected so that people do not add questions/comments to that page. They're supposed to add them to the subpages. Cbrown1023 talk 21:32, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Exactly, none of the headings at Wikimedia site feedback have edit links. I doubt it's a temporary problem. I still have to go to my browser history and load the Wikimedia site feedback/main page to get the section buttons (from there all works dandy as you can see)

There's just the "View source" button at the top of the parent page telling that "This page has been locked to prevent editing." - Guess that having one locked main page and one editable sub-page doesn't mix well when it comes to editing sections.

I didn't even know there's a sub-page until I started rooting around for the reason why creating a section did work but editing a section did not. Safe to assume the average visitor just gives up. Besides, why should visitors not be able to edit a page called "feedback" in the first place? 84.129.172.45 22:07, 17 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As for the section edits, I see two options: (clearly #1 makes the most sense)

1) Unlock the parent page, so that the edit buttons carry over from the sub-page again and are not suppressed by the page lock. (I know these kind of sub-paged sections work fine elsewhere on Wikipedia.) or

2) Reduce the parent page to a mere pointer to the actual forum page on which users are supposed to edit. It makes no sense to have the feedback page display its sub-page but give no reasonable means to reach these sections for editing. (A simple notice saying "don't come here, this page's locked, go to another page" would also do, but that's kinda defeats the purpose of leading visitors to the first page.) 84.129.179.210 12:02, 18 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Comments should be directly left in the main page (Wikimedia site feedback). The instructions in Wikimedia site feedback could be moved to a subpage (e.g. Wikimedia site feedback/header), but the main page should remain accessible to the visitors. Korg 15:40, 19 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Polish Wikipedia foundation?

Is it OK, that during the wkimedia funadtion donation actions, on Polish page [1] there is request to donate Polish Wikipedia funadtion? I do not know anything about this funadation activities and how money are spend, it looks like they collects money using wikipedia popularity. Yes, it is okay that there is a note about donations towards Wikimedia Polska on the Fundraising page. They are a local chapter of the Wikimedia Foundation and you are free to donate to them. I am not sure where exactly the money you donate to them goes, however I am sure you can find more information on their site. Wikimedicine

I am not sure if this is the right venue for this suggestion, but I think that a valuable resource that the Wikimedia Foundation should consider exploring is a medical reference tool. This could include comprehensive pages on pharmacology, diseases, syndromes, etc., all phrased and formated in language intended for physicians and other health professionals. Though a site like this would obviously not be intended as a replacement for medical textbooks, but if accuracy is maintained by administrators, "Wikimedicine" could prove to be a valuable reference tool. Yes,despite your claim for excellence,I find many articles to breif and many links simply no existant.If you wait everything to be ference by some higher authoryity website,your going to find much of your pages blank or full not much imformation.Some of your contributors write article so breif,that there not much to read on many of them.The links to nothing at all are a waste and I can go many other websites to the same material or better. You don't this sorry.I'm teling the truth.You a few choice article are good and plenty not so good.It would better to either write something your self or hello,least something by someone to add to later on.Believe or not,not everything can varified by some web site.Much is not on the web and much of sorry is somebodies opinion.
