Staffing Plan

We currently have a Wikipedian-in-Residence working in collaboration with UNESCO Bangkok. However, the position was funded by our previous grant request. Apart from that, we do not have any staffing plain during this funding period.

Strategic plan

Introduction

Wikimedia Thailand was approved as a Wikimedia Chapter in June 2019. Our main objectives are to increase amount of reach, new participants, and increase content of Wikimedia projects both quantitatively and qualitatively. In 2021-2022, we have started renting an office for the Wikimedia Thailand Chapter. We will continue to promote and encourage more participations and contributions by establishing more collaborations with other institutes and holding the photo competition. Most of the activities, especially those related to Wikimania 2020, did not take place because of the pandemic. We expect that more activities will be hosted in 2022.

Programs

Community engagement (photo competition)

Following the success of photo competitions such as Wiki Loves Earth and Wiki Loves Monument in bringing high quality contributions and new contributors, in 2021-2022 we plans to organize Wikipedia Science Competition. In order to ensure more contributions from regular and new contributors, we have made a collaboration with IPST and NSTDA which are established by government to promote science learning in Thailand. In addition, to encourage submissions, the prizes have been listed for winners.

Program Objectives
  • Increase the quality and quantity of photo submissions to be up to 3,000 uploads
  • Establish collaborations with other institutes and agencies
  • Renewal of establishing partners

Planned activities

  • Promoting the competition
  • Ranking the submissions and selecting winners

Why are we doing this?

Number of participants have remained stagnant or slightly decreased these past few years. We are holding this competition in order to keep the existing participants engaged as well as getting new participations. In addition, this competition would be a good chance to get more contributions and resources about science in Thailand.

Program metrics and targets
  • Number of participants: 100
  • Number of newly registered users: 70
  • Number of pictures and videos of places uploaded to Wikimedia Commons: 3000
  • Number of agreements made with GLAM institutions to release public domain content: 3
