Administrator access

Bikarhêner@kuwiktionary

Hello! Could you give adminstrator and Interface administrator access to the User:Bikarhêner. Thanks in advance Ghybu (talk) 01:28, 27 February 2019 (UTC)

Bikarhêner must enable 2FA first. Ruslik (talk) 20:38, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
How is that supposed to work? Enabling 2FA requires (interface) admin access (cf. ku:wikt:Taybet:ListGroupRights). --Vogone (talk) 21:09, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
Indeed, Bikarhêner has no current way to enable 2FA access. So we can either stop asking them to enable it before assigning the permissions (especially since we can't actually check, my preferred option), or give them access to the oathauth testers group when asking them to enable it rather than sending them to make a request elsewhere. – Ajraddatz (talk) 21:17, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
It has activated. --Bikarhêner (talk) 23:03, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
Done Granted for 6 months to expire on 2019-08-28. – Ajraddatz (talk) 18:36, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
It would be simpler to grant sysop access first and then request them to enable 2FA and after that granting interface admin access. Ruslik (talk) 20:26, 28 February 2019 (UTC)
@Ruslik0:, that's unnecessarily bureaucratic, as I said before, and simply wastes time. Leaderboard (talk) 08:57, 1 March 2019 (UTC)

Infogeek244@es.wikipedia

I made a mistake on the ES Wiki! I need the admin right for 2 minutes. --Infogeek244 (talk) 12:12, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

Infogeek244, that is not how it works :) You need to become an active contributor to eswiki and then go through the procedure described at w:es:Wikipedia:Bibliotecarios. In the meanwhile the mistake you wanted to fix was fixed for you. You just need to use a speedy deletion template, {{Plantilla:Destruir}} in case of eswiki, if you see that something meets speedy deletion criteria. --Base (talk) 12:27, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
Okay, thanks! I did not know the template and accidentally took a wrong one. --Infogeek244 (talk) 12:32, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

ZI Jony@bpy.wikipedia

I would like to ask for adminship right for the purpose of housekeeping tasks about deleting off-topic pages. I also contribute there. local community sysop inactive globally since August 2017. I can understand that I've requested sysop again and again which is not good but please understand the Situation. Thanks and Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 21:01, 25 February 2019 (UTC)

Pinging NahidSultan who created the pages you tagged as offtopic. Vermont (talk) 21:51, 25 February 2019 (UTC)
MarcoAurelio Could you please assign infinitely. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 19:25, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
You tagged a dozen or so pages (created by a steward) for deletion and ask for indefinite administrator permissions without any community discussion. Considering your recent forced removal from OTRS, history of seeking permissions without any experience in the related field, and lack of experience on bpywiki, I oppose your request. Vermont (talk) 19:37, 27 February 2019 (UTC)
Vermont you ping Nahid two days ago but no response, on bpywiki he was created on 2013 when he was new Wikipedian. Regarding community discussion on bpywiki it’s quite difficult because there is no experience active user except Vogone, someone should take responsibly so I've taken as an local person. Regards, ZI Jony (Talk) 20:08, 27 February 2019 (UTC)

AmaryllisGardener@scowiki

I've been administrator on this wiki for quite a few years now and I would like to continue my service. --AmaryllisGardener talk 17:15, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

Question Question: @Ajraddatz and Ruslik0: Is it fine to grant permanent instead of temporary adminship this time? AmaryllisGardener has been an admin there since 2014 without issues (to the best of my knowledge). Defender (talk) 17:48, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
I am personally fine with granting permanent access. There is no risk of abuse that must be mitigated in this case. – Ajraddatz (talk) 17:54, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
I am afraid if we start making exceptions, then anyone will start demanding be granted said exceptions (thus becoming rule). I can understand having to ask each year for adminship is annoying, and that's why I'd support 2 years temporary adminship; but not permanent while agreeing with Ajraddatz in that there's no apparent risk of tools abuse here. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 12:10, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Clarification: In this case, with 7 successful RfAs and an having had temporary adminship for several years (last one lasted 2 years) I am not totally opposed though. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 20:34, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Granted permanent. They are admin there for over 5 years, in one of previous votes, w:sco:Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/AmaryllisGardener 4, the community indicated that they would want to see him a permanent admin. Besides other administrators hold permanent permissions there. While it is a small wiki, I see no need for superfluous bureaucracy. --Base (talk) 23:17, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Not sure if George Ho qualifies within our community RfA voter requirement (voter need to have at least 10 contribs on kowikinews, or have over 500 edits on ko.wiki* domains combined, he only has contribs on VP and I am not sure if that is 'contribution'.), but I've asked *Youngjin to decide. In case you don't you have to enable it for these rights per WMF requirement. It can be done in in preferences on skwikt. --Base (talk) 22:42, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
I do. JAn Dudík confirmed below. I can't speak on behalf of Zdenekk2, we can postpone that until he's back from vacations, I'll poke him. Thanks for care.
Danny B. 21:09, 9 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi everyone. Note that the discussion extends two sections below the linked one. The two extra sections cover my concerns. I thought I would mention them here, so that they don't get ignored. I am obviously in the minority, but I am also the one most likely to suggest interface changes (one planned change is already in the pipeline). Of particular concern to me is that Danny B. did not confirm his willingness to obey the community (which is not a matter of course due to some past incidents). Also, Zdenekk2 did not make any edits recently and it's not clear whether he is interested in these permissions. I don't have any issues with JAn Dudík even though his own support for the proposal is tentative. (see below) I am happy to answer any questions you might have. — Robert Važan (talk) 22:05, 6 March 2019 (UTC)

Now I have doubts about JAn Dudík too. Even though he confirmed his willingness to obey the community, his bot has just performed controversial mass content removals (example) without so much as posting an announcement first, apparently on Danny's request who was shown proof two days before that such content is established practice introduced long ago by several editors. This kind of unilateral decision-making is what I am worried about. It can completely wreck the project when armed with interface access. — Robert Važan (talk) 16:52, 8 March 2019 (UTC)

The appropriate place to discuss all your grievances is sk.wiktionary. This board is for requests only. Please, do not post long comments here anymore. Ruslik (talk) 20:36, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
Yes, understood. The reason for posting here was that Danny B. reformatted the discussion on SK Wiktionary in such a way ([1], [2], [3]) that my comments were made easy to miss. I wouldn't have posted here otherwise. — Robert Važan (talk) 06:24, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

Yes, it's now required. Leaderboard (talk) 10:03, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
I don't know how. My English is not good enough, to understand without a dictionary, how to do. And generelly: Since years I'm the only one, who works continue for nds.wiktionary, get no help from Wikipedia, if their is a problem, problems, I would not have, if not often someone, I do not know who, makes changes, and nobody looks, that it will not make problems, they make changes and I can make the rest, do not know, what was changed, and so I need often hours, to find, what's going wrong. At time, I cannot use the Edit-Help, someone has change something and I do not know, what. And so I have many work, that has nothing to do with to make a Dictionary, many times, I do look, what's going wrong. And then, I can as an Admin not longer open for example https://nds.wiktionary.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Edit.js to do something, that it will run again in future, after Mr. Unknown had made a change, and if I will do it, there is a first problem, suddenly I must become a special Admin, a interface administrator, who is allowed to make changes in MediaWiki-Files, and that is not enough, a little second problem, now you must install something on your computer or so, a Password is not enough, and the page, where is written how to do, is a mix of German and English, before I can install, I have to do a hour or more, to translate. I have work years on nds.wiktionary.org, but now it is enough. You can close the nds.wiktionary, in future there is nobody, who will do anything continouisly, no Admin, no one who makes templates, and no one, who will look, that every thing is okay, nobody, who will look, that the shit, what someone makes, so that their are errors and bugs, will be become okay. And clear, a Interface administrator access I do not need in future, shall the one, who has made the problems for example with the https://nds.wiktionary.org/wiki/MediaWiki:Edit.js do something, that the problem will be no longer be. I will do in future other things, things, that make sence and make fun. nds.wiktionary maks both no longer. For me is that, what is going on on nds.wiktionary, only a form of sabotage and that's not all, I have look many hours on Wikimedia and so on for someone, who helps me, to correct errors, nobody will do so, no, but make errors is no problems. Now for me it's more than enough, call the troubleshooter, they have made the problems, let them correct it. I not longer will do so, and so I also not need to be a shit interface administrator. --Joachim Mos (talk) 11:33, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
I know you might be in a hurry, but whoa, watch your mouth. --Super Wang hates PC You hate, too? 12:18, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
@Joachim Mos: calm down, please. 2FA is mandatory to get the permission you're asking. Go to your preferences site (click here), now on first page you got button "Enable two factor autentication" (or Die Zwei-Faktor-Authentifizierung aktivieren). Then install Google authenticator or other app on your mobile. It's simple and easy to use. I asked for it not because I want you to get mad, I asked because I cannot grant the permission wihtout 2FA enabled. einsbor talk 15:03, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

Request to please let thus request be delayed for atleast a month, as this is due to some harassed mental state, following some petty issues, that I think to resolve in due course. For the same reason am requesting the delay. The user is being worked with Hindi wiki for long and his services are much needed there. So we don't want to lose such worker for this much reason. Not done. AAR doesn't work this way. First a steward has to message both the wiki and the user, then after a month if there's no reply, the rights can be removed (of if there's reply the community opposes). AAR is not meant to be used outside the review period. I can start the process for sr.wiktionary shortly though (I am going wiki by wiki in alphabetical order, so it's a slow process). —MarcoAurelio (talk) 13:44, 7 March 2019 (UTC)

Ralf Roletschek: This isn't a voting page (or at least those requests are not). The reason why they rights should be removed is because of the inactivity policy on your wiki. And if there wouldn't be a local policy, then Admin activity review would take place. Esteban16 (talk) 00:31, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
Also, as far as I understand, v:de:Wikiversity:Administratoren#Verfahren_bei_Inaktivität doesn't trigger any kind of vote of any sort. If the user does not reply within 2 weeks after the notification, the user is removed. —MarcoAurelio (talk) 12:08, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Wondering whether the users should have also been notified with messages on their talk pages.... - dcljr (talk) 01:47, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
@MarcoAurelio: Apparently it's not as simple as "If the user does not reply within 2 weeks after the notification, the user is removed", since one of the (now former) admins there, Hubertl, did actually respond shortly after being pinged at v:de:Wikiversity:Cafeteria#Inactive sysops. They had a bit of back and forth with Esteban16 and then they were desysopped two weeks later (granted, they did mention taking a "wikirest"). In light of this, it would seem that the two-week wait was in fact a probationary period during which time the notified admins were required to raise their adminstrative activities to the requisite level or lose the ability to perform them. This probably should have been spelled out in the original notice made on the wiki (which, like I said before, should have been made individually to each user on their talk page, as would have been done under the normal AAR process — I have now posted such [after-the-fact] notices on each user's talk page). - dcljr (talk) 04:27, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

What about giving them a year or 6 months and then granting perma if it is good? Import is a serious business, we usually grant it (only) temporarily. — regards, Revi 10:57, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
Dear @MF-Warburg: and @-revi:, @NMW03: is a interface administrator on azwiki and he actively crate and edit gadgets. I think you can give him a year or 6 months, the permanently. Our wiki support his efforts. --Drabdullayev17 (talk) 16:02, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
@MF-Warburg:, @-revi: OK. You can give temporarily.--NMW03 (talk) 16:57, 4 February 2019 (UTC)
As I said, please vote/discuss locally first, not here. A discussion should run for at least 1 week on the wiki in question, generally. --MF-W 17:37, 4 February 2019 (UTC)

@Xaosflux:, @علاء: Yes. I want to import from English Wikipedia and other WMF projects.--NMW03 (talk) 07:27, 9 February 2019 (UTC)
@NMW03: 'transwiki importer' is a less risky access level, and setting up transwiki will also allow any of your admins to run import - but you have to define a list of sources. So adding 'enwiki' is easy - but it dosen't work so much for "any project" - in addition to enwiki, are there specific projects you need to import from? An example of requesting sites can be seen here: phab:T34500. — xaosflux Talk 10:40, 9 February 2019 (UTC)
Or I can help you with the process, if rest of your community members are also fine with this idea. — regards, Revi 18:40, 9 February 2019 (UTC)
@-revi: @Xaosflux: Mainly I'll import from enwiki. Is the 'importer' enough?--NMW03 (talk) 06:59, 10 February 2019 (UTC)
Provided you can get another consensus to Request for configuration change, you will just need admin account to the stuff. — regards, Revi 11:36, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
@-revi: with their community supporting 'importer' (perhaps without knowing all of the implications) this request should easily be able to be 'downgraded' to 'transwiki importer' (provided they improve the import sources) right? In the meantime @NMW03: can you start a local thread to approve "Enable transwiki imports from the English Wikipedia" on azwiki? For the summary say that it would allow "administrators and transwiki importers" to use w:az:Special:Import to import (copy in) histories from enwiki. This could be used for technical imports such as modules, or for articles that you want to translate. — xaosflux Talk 13:17, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: OK. Thanks. You can close this request.--NMW03 (talk) 13:27, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
@NMW03: do you not want this anymore? If xwiki resources are added you would still need to be a local 'transwiki importer' (which could be added in advance) or admin to use the import process. — xaosflux Talk 13:57, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
@Xaosflux:, Should we request phabricator to activate the "Import" function?--NMW03 (talk) 14:25, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
@NMW03: yes, and you would need to link to a local discussion. As soon as that is done all of your admins would be able to transwiki import. If you personally will be doing to imports and are not an admin, this request should still be able to add you to 'transwiki importers' (though that is useless until there is somewhere to import from). — xaosflux Talk 14:29, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
@Xaosflux: This right can be given when the request resolve? So user groups will be enabled?--NMW03 (talk) 15:21, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
@-revi: your ball :D Can this be resolved out with the 'lesser' transwiki group access for NMW03 - then they can self-service their own phab ticket to add sources. — xaosflux Talk 15:43, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
Sorry for the delay, I'll get this done this week. — regards, Revi 14:30, 24 February 2019 (UTC)

@NMW03, sorry for the delay. Can you make sure there is a consensus to make use of 'transwiki-import'? Thanks. — regards, Revi 00:24, 26 February 2019 (UTC)

  • Done Granted for 1 year to expire on 2019-03-02. Discussion open with no significant opposition for sufficient length of time to support temporary adminship for 1 year. Neither enough response nor enough project activity to justify permanent adminship at this time. To prolong your (interface) adminship, please start another election a few days before your temporary access expires, and after a week post your request again to this page. Thanks. -- Avi (talk) 18:03, 2 March 2018 (UTC)

My temporary adminship ran out, and the discussion part of scowiki is not active, only content creation. I've been an active admin on scowiki for a few years now and would like to continue my service. I would like to have adminship for another year just as it was granted last year if possible. Iliev@bg.wikisource

Previous request: /Approved_temporary#Iliev@bg.wikisource (discussion: s:bg:Уикиизточник:Разговори#Request for adminship)

I'm pleased to report that my main objective—curbing the aggressive, persistent, and vigorous vandalism and harassment that had been plaguing the Bulgarian projects at the time—has been successfully achieved. Being also a sysop on bgwiki (for 6 years now), bgwikt (2 years), bgquote (6 months), and bgbooks (3 months), this goal has also been met on all these projects, preventing the vandals from jumping from one wiki to another. Needless to say, this success is not a product that you deliver once and forever. The old vandals continue testing whether they can slip through, and new ones will always emerge. Hence why I'd like to ask for an extension of my sysop rights on bgsource. As always, my commitment to the anti-vandalism efforts is long-term, so I (and obviously my colleagues too) will appreciate a longer term extension: if not permanent, then hopefully for at least a year, so that people aren't bothered to repeat their votes too often.

Thank you very much for considering my request,
— Luchesar • T/C 11:22, 26 March 2018 (UTC)

Done Granted for 1 year to expire on 2019-03-28. The community is now not large enough to grant permanent sysopship. --Alaa :)..! 22:58, 28 March 2018 (UTC)

Alaa , thank you! Concerning the note on permanent sysopship, am I understanding correctly that next time, in a year, we can explicitly vote to grant permanent sysop rights?
— Luchesar • T/C 10:16, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
@Iliev: with 18 active user it'll be hard to grant permanent sysopship, because there's no real community. Also if we take a look at the voters on your request, we'll found that only 4 (from 14) have more than 50 edits, and 10 with less than 10 edits! --Alaa :)..! 15:42, 29 March 2018 (UTC)
Alaa , ah, I understand: you meant to write “The community is not large enough to grant permanent sysopship.” With “now” it sounded the opposite way. :) Thank you for the explanation and thanks again for the rights—one year is totally fine.
