This page hosts requests for requesting Global (un)blocks, locks and hidings. Note that requests for global permissions are now handled here. Proposals for new groups should be made on Meta:Babel.

To make a request, read the relevant policy (global blocking) and make a request below. Please indicate why a global block is necessary and for how long.

Any active Wikimedia editor may participate in the discussion, though only stewards may use {{yes}} or {{no}} templates.

Requests for global (un)block

Please be sure to follow the instructions below: Your request might be rejected if you don't follow the instructions. Please also review Global blocking. Only IP addresses can be globally blocked at this moment. Please see #Requests for global (un)lock and (un)hiding if your request involves an account. Instructions for making a request Before requesting, make sure that: You know the IP address(es) you wish to have globally blocked or unblocked. For blocks, the global blocking criteria are met. For unblocks, your request addresses the original reason for blocking the IP, if any. When requesting that your IP be unblocked, note that stewards need to know your IP address to even consider a request. I was trying to edit the "Development of Windows Vista" article to have another picture on it, but it told me that my IP was blocked. I tried editing my talk page to appeal the block but I was blocked from editing my own talk page (linuxlove8088). I haven't done any malicious acts nor do I plan to. If I do, then most likely it will be someone who has hacked my account. So... Could I get this IP unblocked? Thanks.

A problem

I am editing from a neighborhood in Alabama that has been blocked for the reason "sock vandals". I have no idea how long it has been in effect but considering that who ever did it were bored teenagers that long forgotten about Wikipedia, can't you unblock the range? 68.221.199.166 22:49, 15 March 2010 (UTC)

I am a formerly active editor of the English Wikipedia. I am currently living in the Empty Quarter - and, needless to say, I want to get more involved in Wikipedia again (because, yes, there's just as much social life here as the name suggests). However, the problem I have encountered is that there has been so much vandalism from this IP range that there has been a general block implemented. I am unable to start new articles.
