This page is for requests to have stewards grant or revoke administrator, bureaucrat, checkuser, and oversight rights on Wikimedia projects which do not have a local permissions procedure.

Requests for bot flags are handled at SRB, and requests for global permissions are handled at SRGP.
If you are requesting adminship or bureaucratship, and your wiki has a local bureaucrat, submit your request to that user or to the relevant local request page (index).
For urgent requests, such as to combat large-scale vandalism on a small wiki, contact a steward in the #wikimedia-stewards^connect IRC channel. In emergencies, type !steward in the channel to get the attention of stewards. Otherwise, you can type @steward for non-urgent help.

Other than requests to remove your own access or emergencies, please only make requests here after gaining the on-wiki approval of your local community.

Using this page[edit]

2. Fill in the values:

domain: the wiki's URL domain (like "ex.wikipedia" or "meta.wikimedia").
user name: the name of the user whose rights are to be changed (like "Exampleuser"). In case you're requesting access for multiple bots, leave this field blank and give a list of these bots in your remarks
discussion: a link to the local vote or discussion about the rights change (for example, "[[ex:Wikipedia:Requests_for_adminship#ExampleUser]]"). This should normally be for at least one week, but no more than three weeks (if so, you'll need to restart the process).

3. If anything is missing from your request, a steward will request more information.

Confirmation of signing confidentiality agreement[edit]

Certain permissions (notably CheckUser and Oversight) additionally require users to sign a confidentiality agreement. Users requesting these permissions must make a request below, and must also sign the confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation. The request is placed on hold temporarily, until the receipt has been formally confirmed by the Office.

@EPIC, @CapitainAfrika: Interface administrator rights are not necessary at all for general improvements in interface translation. It's much better to do it on https://translatewiki.net, which has its own accounts.

Interface administrator rights are necessary for advanced interface customizations, only in cases when the translations that come from translatewiki.net cannot be appropriate for some reason, and as far as I can see, this is not the case with kg.wikipedia at the moment. Thank you @Superpes15, I have basic knowledge since I am from the region and my parents come from this community, I am looking to revitalize my language and I have already formed a community of contributors to move the project forward. There are certain modules that require you to have rights to create them, I am trying to set up the Biography infobox for example, the display is not correct, in lnwiki it is already good but especially to retrieve the info from Wikidata, moreover the user @Pppery helped us to do it in lnwiki, but the problem remains in kgwiki, too, for the display of navigation palette in bottom of the page, it's still difficult for the two wikis, I'll send you the links that complicate me, if you could help me either by creating them or by helping me create them :

@Volstand: As far as I can see you don't have email enabled, but it is no longer needed so you can forget about that.

However, may I ask you if you have enabled two-factor authentication for your account? If you do not, please follow the instructions here to enable it. Hello! There are currently almost no active users on the Turkmen Wikipedia. There is a lot of work to be done by the administrator. There are a lot of trash articles praising the presidents of this country that should be removed. Therefore, I decided to submit my application to become an administrator. Recently, there are almost no active users in Turkmen, there are very few edits, and of course no one voted for me. As for my level of knowledge of the language, I am constantly working on it. There are indeed no active users, let alone a native Turkmen speaker. In the past few years I have only seen a couple tk-N users, none of which are active at the moment, including the only other admin, who hasn't edited for months. I don't think the lack of knowledge of the language is a deal breaker since Turkic languages are generally similar (the candidate is uz-N) and I myself also with "only" tk-1 have managed to do it for some time now. As for the actual candidate, I don't really have an objection since I've somewhat know Umarxon on uzwiki from my time as a global sysop. The desysop that took place there is over a year ago now and while it appears to be problematic, not a lot of the concerns raised there applicable to tkwiki, especially given that the user was allowed to retain the eliminator right to delete articles even after the desysop. I think this is in line with what is expected at tkwiki, where not much happens apart from a few spam pages every now and then. Styyx (talk) 16:12, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

At Steward requests/Permissions/2024-02#Qu0404@cebwiki I was given admin access for 3 months (which is about to expire) with the instruction to start another election before the temporary access expires and then post a request here again. There has been no objections to this and I have preformed several hundred uncontested admin actions. I'm patrolling the recent changes and moving pages to unqualified names after duplicates have been merged. @Qu0404: But as far as I can see, creating a subpage to ceb:Wikipedia:Tigdumala and following the instructions at ceb:Wikipedia:Mga hangyo nga mahimong tigdumala seems to be the correct way to apply for adminship? That seems to be the dedicated page to do so and that was the case last time, so please open a discussion there, come back after a week and there shouldn't be any problems prolonging this. Dear global administrators. Recently we achieved the full version of Kaawiktionary (kaa.wiktionary.org) project from Incubator. So now, when we have a separate site for our project, it's required to rearrange it. Hello. I am here to request admin status at roa-rup.wiki (Aromanian Wikipedia). It is in a pretty bad state. I have not bothered starting a discussion because there is no community there. The Main Page's talk page was last edited in 2014 [1], while the Community Portal hasn't been edited since 2012 [2]. There is only one local admin [3] who has never edited the Wikipedia [4]. There are pages that shouldn't exist (I mean look at this [5]) and have been tagged for months without anyone doing anything [6]. I can start a discussion and wait for... some years if necessary for the sake of the process but I'm pretty sure the discussion would go unreplied.

The reason I want to take the role is because I have a high interest in the Aromanian people. I am a user in English Wikipedia with over 55,000 edits who has been editing for over 8 years [7]. I have never been blocked in en.wiki, nor on any Wikimedia project except for Wikimedia Commons due to a misunderstanding [8]. Today most of my edits in Wikipedia are related to the Aromanians. I do not speak Aromanian but I do speak Romanian, as they are closely related languages, and I believe the closeness of the two will allow me to do maintenance on the wiki such as deletion of improper pages without difficulty, which is my aim with this proposal. Hi - yes, regardless of whether there is a local community or not, you still need to open a local discussion, wait for at least a week and come back here, and we can evaluate whether to grant you. In principle, requests for temporary bureaucrat access are not granted.
A small project does not need bureaucrats. Currently whether a promotion is valid or not is decided by stewards. See here for a guideline.

CheckUser access[edit]

See CheckUser policy for information about this user group and the policy governing the use of this tool.

To request CheckUser information, see Steward requests/Checkuser. This is the place to request CheckUser access.
One-time CheckUser access is not permitted and temporary access is only used by Stewards or when the mandate of the CUs has an expiry date specified in local policies.

Stewards: Before granting this permission to a user, please check the current policy and make sure that the user has signed the confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation. An email template is available for requesting new users to identify.

When a new user is assigned to this group, please add them to this list. Subscription to checkuser-l will be handled by list owners. Make sure new users contact an op for access to #wikimedia-privacy^connect and #wikimedia-checkuser^connect.

To request to have content oversighted, ask for a steward in #wikimedia-stewards^connect and contact a steward privately. This section is for requesting access to the Oversight tool.

Note that temporary Oversight access is not permitted and temporary status is only used by Stewards .

Stewards: Before granting this permission to a user, please check the current policy and make sure that the user has signed the confidentiality agreement with the Wikimedia Foundation.

Removal of access[edit]

If you're requesting the removal of your own permissions, make sure you're logged in to your account. If you have multiple flags, specify which you want removed. Stewards may delay your request a short time to ensure you have time to rethink your request (see previous discussion on 24 hour delays); the rights will not be restored by stewards once they are removed.

To request the removal of another user's permissions, you must gain consensus on the local wiki first. When there is community consensus that the user's access should be removed, provide a link to the discussion, with a brief explanation of the reason for the request, and summarize the results of discussion. However, as bureaucrats of some wikis may remove users from the administrator or bureaucrat group, please see also a separate list of these specific wikis.

To request the removal of another user's permissions for inactivity, link to your local inactivity policy. If your site does not have inactivity policy, the global policy Admin activity review applies.

Additionally, as previously reported, the user's behavior is highly problematic, bordering on supporting vandalism, and even suggesting a little potential of unauthorized access to the account.
