Hi.

21 months ago, we found a massive spam problem with the suite101.com domain on en.wikipedia and we had it blacklisted on meta. There was also some cross-wiki spam. There's little or no editorial oversight of their 140,000 articles and the writers are not experts in most cases, so these links were not encyclopaedic. Suite101.com pays its writers based on page views of their articles and was coaching them as to how to build traffic through linking. There have been extensive discussions about this blacklisting; the owners and their writers have repeatedly protested this action, but they've found little support from the Wikipedia community for blacklist removal once our editors learned how unreliable their stuff was.

For a list of previous discussions to skim, you can see the long list I posted at [[User talk:Drini#Blacklist]] in connection with a proposed removal from the blacklist; we've since resolved that's not going happen. (All those old discussions are a lot of stuff to read, so you may just want to skim the stuff from late 2006.)

In the process of looking at this once again, Dirk found they also have a German site, suite101.de and there are a number of links to it. See the discussion on my talk page at [[User talk:A. B.#More about suite101.de and related spam]]. I have listed a number of IPs that added these links. Note that there were some suite101.com that were innocently added by regular de.wikipedia editors.

There was also a de.wikipedia editor, [[:de:Benutzer:Gorillamoon|Benutzer:Gorillamoon]] (also known as [[:de:Benutzer:Prinz Rupi|Benutzer:Prinz Rupi]]) who added a number of links to domains he owns in addition to his Suite101.de pages. I have researched this and left a number of relevant links for you or someone else to check out.

I'm not comfortable pursuing suite101.de further since I am not a member of the de.wikipedia community. I suggest you or someone else on de.wikipedia take a look at both the desirability of your suite101.de links as well as the Gorillamoon/Prinz Rupi issue.

Well, I would disagree that editing user pages without permission of either the community or the users themselves is "uncontroversial". It is also not possible to run a bot here without getting a warning that the bot may be blocked; that message comes through any time a bot flag is not present on the account. Further, the user had been sent to the Bot Policy page several times since as early as March, when the last appeal for bot use here was made.

In any case, the block was only on the bot, not the user, and was made in accordance with our Bot policy: [[wikt:WT:BOT|WT:BOT]]. The user has violated that policy knowingly in that he has set up NO bot explanation here (I quote from policy: "The bot account's name should contain your own username, and an indication of the kind of tasks the bot will be performing") and has NOT provided any of the bot's code. I ([[User:Xoser|Mirzali]]) and [[User:Xoser|Asmen]] are the proposer, two of the three sysops from [[:diq:|diq.wikipedia]], and we work for [http://www.zazaki-institut.com/ Zaza Language Institute].

Our problem had not been "[[ethnologue:diq|diq]]" or "[[ethnologue:kiu|kiu]]" yet, until our colleague [[User:Xoser|Xosere]] brought the matter to roll. We together had fought generally from the outset for a place for Zazaki in Wikipedia. (Please see [http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Template:Requests_for_new_languages/diq Requests_for_new_languages/diq]!) It was initially open for all dialects. He has been influenced and guided from discussions in other Zaza forums. None of us sent him really appreciated something malicious. But he sent the worst insults in his private emails to me. But again he felt personally attacked and insulted. Ultimately he reacted emotionally, where he even contacted the people from the Kurdish side to interfere with. Finally when he was abandoned also of those people, he was suddenly olone.
If he really would be from the southern Zaza region, it would have been no further problem. But he is now times from the central Zaza area. Apart from this, the fact is that he is not powerful of any Zazaki dialect. This is not an insult to him, but it is an established truth. That is why he would be unable in his position to manage this page scientifically. I also don’t think he would find any support by speakers of the southern dialect.

Our work (from the Zazaki-Institute) on the standard language of the Zazaki is a result of year-long scientific research. It isn’t an artificially constructed language, as some assume it. Only those, who have little or no knowledge of Zazaki think so. We're very hurt, that now our trouble and work will be questioned and destroyed at once.

Unlike us, the work of the [http://www.vateonline.se/ Vate] (a Pro-Kurdish group) is not scientific. Apart from the Kurdish spelling, try these people to equal Zazaki at Kurdish, in which they use numerous Kurdish words in their books and magazines, although exist there original Zazaki words.

Now if you look at the matter from the outside, there should be actually five Wikipedias in Zazaki.

:#1 Sorry, but I can't really do much about these internal differences, the one thing I would certainly do, would be to temporarily desysop all three of the involved sysops until they stopped the fights (which included heavy editwar, wheelwar (pagemove war), blocking and unblocking each others), because that damages the project.
:#2 Afaik the [[Meta:Language_proposal_policy#Requisites|requisites]]<sup>[2],[3]</sup> for new projects and new languages criteria do not allow languages that have no iso-code or are just a dialect, but I might be wrong, if You are interested in opening seperate projects, I would suggest to contact someone of the [[language committee]] for an advice.
:#3 As far as I can see and followed the discussions there seem to be valid arguments on both sides, I think You should discuss them further peacefully and if You feel more comfortable to do this in a neutral environment, be invited to do this on [[requests for comments|Meta]]

HI Birdy, I want your opinion on whether to allow or not creation fo the pages, sontaining solely material from another website which allows to copy the material on the condition to acknowldge the source. I am against that. There is a user on gu.wiki, who is creating an article on how to write Gujarati Script, but what he is doing is just copying images from another free website and pasting them on the page, that's all. My suggestion to that person was to create articles with moral material, and where needed the material form other website shoudl only eb used as a resource. :I usually call English a fake language because it's just a mixture of Latin, French, Anglo-Saxon and some more :) In Limburg, and also in the rest of the Netherlands, we use the same system as in Germany and Austria. ¿Porqué antes cuando bloqueabas globalmente una cuenta, aparecía "locked (and hid) global account "user:*@global"" pero ahora aparece "changed status for global account "user:*@global": set (locked); unset (none)"?, porque cuando bloqueas un usuario que no esta bloqueado localmente aparece "blocked" pero si lo está, aparece en su lugar "changed block setting for" saludos 191.106.163.190 05:33, 3 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
