I'd like to help out on OTRS because I have experience with discussions and I think that more volunteers would help the project. I'm Sysop in the Portuguese Wikinews. Richard Melo da Silva 17:29, 4 January 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well, I don't see you coment on pt:Wikipedia:Contato/Fale com a Wikipédia (in fact, your last edit there was in 21 March, 2009). You don't deal with copyvio issues, don't upload files in pt.wiki (in commons, you spent months between uploads) and don't answer problems of newcomers or outsiders. Why you want to be a OTRS member so? Béria Lima msg 22:27, 22 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Beria, your link points to Portuguese Wikipedia but he said he's a sysop in Portuguese Wikinews. OhanaUnitedTalk page 03:36, 26 January 2011 (UTC)Reply
Béria has a good question though: what is Richard interested in doing as an OTRS agent? Cbrown1023 talk 23:33, 19 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'd like to help out on the front lines of PR. Obviously there are more than a few misconceptions about the maze of policies, guidelines, essays, and noticeboards that is the massive bureaucracy (whether or not we want to admit it (yes, I am familiar with w:en:WP:BURO)) that we call the English Wikipedia. Anything that I can do to help clarify these and get the general public (or at least one very small part of it) to better understand how everything works is something that I think is very valuable to the project as a whole. As for other languages I have some very basic understanding of spanish (I passed the class, but beyond that it's about it), but I don't think it'd be enough to be useful. (I'd say I'm somewhere around ES-0.75). Nn123645 04:39, 2 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'd like to help out on OTRS(in commons and Persian Wikipedia) because I willing to organize copyright free pages and images in Iran and talked to some museums and organization for their images and documents(they need an official letter from an OTRS member) but I am willing to help new users and make a better responsibility too. I'm sysop and bureaucrat in Persian Wikipedia Amir 17:38, 6 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'd like to help out on OTRS (at commons and mostly in Georgian Wikipedia - as we have no users speaking Georgian at all, and I don't consider it fair) because I wish to help in organizing images in Georgia and talked to some museums and organization for their images and documents aaometimes they need an official letter from an OTRS member - I also have access to email at @wikimedia.ge. I'm sysop in Georgian WIkipedia and in Georgian Wiktionary. — Dawid talk 15:57, 7 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

  • I've heard of Dawid during discussion of establishing Wikimedia Georgia. As far as I know, he's trusted one. Dr Bug (Vladimir V. Medeyko) 16:39, 8 February 2011 (UTC)Reply
  • Heya Dawid, thanks for applying! You mention that it's not fair that OTRS doesn't have any Georgian users at all -- we actually don't get many e-mails in Georgian, which is why there aren't that many, not because we're being unfair to Georgians. ;-) About needing "official letters", what do you mean by that? Nothing sent from OTRS is ever official, we actually have a disclaimer at the bottom of all of our e-mails that say that these messages come from volunteers. What exactly do these museums need? I have been on the English Wikipedia since 2006, though I have been active only over the past 6 months. I have contributed a lot to some articles, though many of my edits are vandalism reverts. I have been an Online Ambassador-in-training since January. I take a lot of interest in dealing with mediation requests, and take care to maintain civility at all times. I also help out newcomers willingly, and have adopted a couple of newcomers. I want to help out on OTRS because I take pleasure in interacting with people, and because I have a history of dealing with a lot of people online and offline related to the Wikimedia projects, I believe that I would make a good addition to the team. Hello, I'm an active user on French Wikipedia for 4 years (sysop since May 2008) and sysop on French Wikinews. I frequently give help and explanations (copyvios, NPOV, notability) to newcomers. So I'd like to help out on OTRS with permission-fr and info-fr. Moyg 20:54, 14 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

I'd like to help out on OTRS because: Frankly, I doubt that I will spend much time on OTRS work. I am an active Commons Administrator -- about 1,300 Admin Actions a month -- and I am frequently, perhaps daily, slowed down in dealing with our DR backlog by not being able to see OTRS information. I think I could save time for me and the OTRS staff if I simply looked at the e-mail. A perfect example is Commons:Deletion requests/File:MAD-alfie-1960.jpg which has an OTRS ticket on it, but I strongly suspect that the permission is from the wrong place.
