This article discusses the uses of Wiki technology in education. Not to be confused with Wikipedia in schools.

Wiki technology can be used in schools to further education. The idea is that students can create a resource about a particular subject collaboratively. This follows the concept of Social Constructionist, that students learn best when they are in a creating things in a social environment.

Here is an example of “wiki” technology being used to further education. While not a “wiki” the concept is the same, students collaborating to create an information resource.

We should encourage Wiki technology to be used in schools. WikiBooks would be a great place to start. Having an entire Chemistry class create a Chemistry Wikibook for instance would do to things: it would give us a good resource for Chemistry, and it would benefit greatly in learning of the subject to the editors involved.
