OK, I've finally updated this page (May 26, 2001), for the first time in many months, by way
of expressing my own appreciation of all the great work everyone has done. I'm really quite impressed. I mean, golly, we've done a lot of good work! It took forever to get through even the small fraction of articles that I did see. My criteria for inclusion in the above list were: (1) copious original content; (2) good writing; (3) clarity for the person who doesn't know what the topic is about (after all, this is an encyclopedia!); (4) whimsy (i.e., don't expect to see perfect consistency and fairness in those that ''I'' listed :-) ). I did not add many of the articles that consist of links to other articles, except where many of the linked articles were good (this is noted by "and related pages"). I didn't know which of "my own" articles to include, so I didn't include any. :-) Since it has been many years since I studied any mathematics (other than logic), I didn't include any math articles. Please add some of those! --[[Larry Sanger]]

We think the following Wikipedia pages are pretty good. This is a selected list--since there are thousands of pages on Wikipedia, we couldn't possibly keep track of all the brilliant prose here! But if you come across a particularly impressive page, why not add it to the list as your way of saying "Thanks, good job"?

Pythagorean Theorem -- statistics (the whole area) -- Classical Mechanics -- Quantum Mechanics -- periodic table -- carbon -- alchemy -- Biology (many excellent pages here, and a good start generally) -- cladistics -- protista (the whole area) -- DNA -- Astronomy and Astrophysics -- Earth -- Paleontology -- geologic ages (and related pages) -- countries of the world (the CIA pages, anyway; hey, the CIA did a great job!) -- History of Levant -- Byzantine Empire -- Alexander the Great -- United States/History -- World War I -- History of Germany -- East Germany -- Netherlands/History -- Language (some of the individual language pages are excellent) -- Japanese language -- Anarchism -- Capitalism -- propaganda -- Economics -- market forms (and related pages) -- City (a few of the city articles are good) -- Milgram experiment -- Disabilities/Disability Etiquette -- History of Science and Technology -- Echelon -- code -- The Singularity -- Linux -- computer system -- World Wide Web -- Search Engine -- markup language -- ASCII -- Computer Security -- information theory -- (probably others about Computing) -- Road Transport -- Spacecraft Propulsion -- intellectual property -- copyright (and related pages) -- trade secret -- Law (bunches of good brief articles) -- Hate Crime -- Star Trek -- science fiction -- film theory (some good articles in this area) -- Paramount -- Walt Disney -- horse-breaking -- horseshoe -- bulldogging -- jazz -- punk rock -- disco -- hip hop -- freestyle music -- musical instrument -- saxophone -- Hammond Organ -- Mozart -- Greek Mythology (and related pages) -- Achilles -- Perseus -- Ernest Hemingway -- Stephen King -- H.
