Nomination

matt319 (talk · contribs) – I am matt319. I also previously edited under the name bobsmith319. In a fit of rage with another user over an edit to the Brady Bunch article, I purposely changed my password with out looking. After briefly editing articles under my ip address, I created a new account which is where I am today. I particularly enjoy working on articles related to American politics, and sometimes articles related to Chicago and Illinois, as I am from the suburbs of Chicago. I have over four years of Wikipedia experience, and I feel that it is time for me to take my extensive skills and knowledge of Wikipedia to a higher level for the Wikipedia community. Thank you. Questions for the candidate

Dear candidate, thank you for offering to serve Wikipedia as an administrator. It is recommended that you answer these optional questions to provide guidance for participants:

1. What administrative work do you intend to take part in?
A: I intend to take part in moderating disputes between users. Wikipedia is a place for people to express their thoughts and opinions with one another. Occasionally, however users may clash over their views. I feel it is important that Wikipedia have an administer who will stay on top of any and all disputes, and work as hard as possible to quickly resolve any altercations so as to keep Wikipedia running as smoothly as possible.
2. What are your best contributions to Wikipedia, and why?
A: I am proud of all my work on Wikipedia, and consider all of it my best work! I strongly suggest my fellow Wikipedians peruse my editing history which goes as far back as August, 2006. I have served Wikipedia through my current username, and my former username, bobsmith319.
3. Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or have other users caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
A: Under my former username, bobsmith319, I was involved in an extensive dispute over pregnancy. I objected to a nude picture on the article, and continually removed it, despite an overwhelming number of my Wikipedia colleagues being against me. When confronted by other users about this, I would become extremely hostile. An Rfc was made to discuss my actions. I finally agreed to stop my actions, which I now see were completely uncalled for. I realize now that my actions were inappropriate, and I now strongly denounce my actions. I am extremely appreciative of the Wikipedia for being so welcoming to me in the time since this dispute was resolved. A few months after this, I got into a dispute with a user who constantly vandalized my user and talk pages. This caused me a great deal of stress, and I was, and still am very appreciative of my fellow Wikipedians for stopping this ip adress user from causing even more harm. I have not gotten into any disputes since then, and I look forward to working productively with my fellow Wikipedians to make a Wikipedia, a better place for all. Thank you.
