Request for an account on the Foundation wiki

From Meta, a Wikimedia project coordination wiki
This is an archived version of this page, as edited by 218.109.195.176 (talk) at 08:03, 17 April 2005 (→‎Archived requests). It may differ significantly from the current version.

This page is for requesting the creation of a user account on the Wikimedia Foundation's website, not on any other wiki. Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia, is a separate site, which anyone can edit or obtain an account on.

Creation of an account is not granted automatically and is subject to approval by the Board.

Please give

  • your username,
  • your email address and
  • the reason(s) you need an account below.

To ensure users are already familiar with the policies of at least one Wikimedia project, we do ask that only administrators apply for an account. If you are not already an administrator, please see the request for adminship page on your local wiki (this should be linked from Wikimedia projects).

Older requests have been archived here and here.

Archived requests

  • Username: TOR
    • e-mail address: tor@oak.rpg.pl
    • reason: I'd like to help out with the Polish version of the site and keep it a bit more up to date and/or do some minor tweaks. I have a fairly good command of English and did some translations for Quarto 2 lately.
    • I am suddenly realising that I have no idea of languages currently handled on the foundation website... And no idea of there is already a polish translator or not :-( Hummmm, do you know ? Anthere 18:47, 1 Mar 2005 (UTC)
    • Okay, welcome in :-) Do not forget to tell me jokes when you have a good one. ant

  • Username:Leonariso
    • e-mail address:leonariso@yahoo.gr
    • reason: I'd like to create the version of the site in greek (ελληνικά). I'm a very good translator.

The Greek pages can be created on meta first and moved over. Have you made any of these yet? Since you've only edited for one day this year on the Greek Wikipedia, do you think you will be active enough to maintain the Greek pages on the foundation wiki? Angela 03:58, 24 Feb 2005 (UTC)

    • I understood what you wanted to say. You may have a point. I 'd like to advice me how to begin translating pages in meta. For instance, what pages I have to begin from. -- Leonariso 21:59, 26 Feb 2005 (UTC)
    • I also forgot to mention that I edited more than one days in Meta, but I didn't loged in.

    • reason: maybe i want to help creating the wikimedia newsletter in german
Just a thought : I am very pleased to see a potential writer in german in the NL, but the NL is written on meta. So ? Are you still interested ? Anthere
I talked with Michaekl personally to ask him a help for NL and other wmf site materials. Now he knows how we work here and there, recruit translators on de and help translation and copyediting. --Aphaia | WQ2翻訳中 | talk 15:06, 4 Mar 2005 (UTC)
