Egon Ronay was born in Budapest, Hungary, but he had left Hungary and migrated away due to the World War II. He departed and lived in London from Oct 10 1946, and got to work in many hotels and restaurants like Princes Restaurant in Piccadilly, Carousel Club in St. James etc.


He had also contributed to the Daily Telegraph, by editing its food column. Then he published a book 'Egon Ronay's Guide to British eateries' in 1957.

Ronay had fallen sick earlier and died on Saturday, reported friend Nick Ross.
He married Barbara and had 2 daughters. He started his own service at Marquee hotel, Knightsbridge. It was discovered that Ronay criticized chefs like Gordon Ramsay, Jamie Oliver, freely. He protested that these chefs were businessmen, not chefs and blamed their cooking.

Soon Marquee hotel graduated and the taste of its French dishes spread in London. This led to the development of Eating habits of London. Then after several years of career he fell sick and died today morning, reported his friend and broadcaster Nick Ross.
