Accreditation requests (AR) is the process by which the Wikinews community decides which users can be recognized as official Wikinews reporters.

I	Before making a request, please read the accreditation policy first. You can also view the list of accredited users.
II	Add your username in the box below and click the Request accreditation button. Complete the questions on the resulting page and save it. Transclude the request page at the foot of the section below by adding the title of the request page, enclosed with curly brackets e.g.: {{Wikinews:Accreditation requests/YourUsername}} Then inform the Wikinews community of your request.
III	Questions You may be asked questions by other users so they can review your request. Please try to provide full answers.
IV	Community decision The request must remain open for at least seven days for a new request or fourteen days for revocation. Other users may {{support}} or {{oppose}} the request. At the end of the minimum period, the request will be closed and the accreditation or revocation will be confirmed, if there is consensus. In the case of revocation a request may be closed early, but no earlier than 7 days, when there is overwhelming consensus. Closed requests are moved to the archives.
Upon successful accreditation
Email	Once accredited, you can get a personal email address on WN-Reporters. Please contact acagastya or Gryllida about this. Your email address will be made up based on the details given when applying. If you have a middle name and you feel having this in the address (or its initial) is important, please say so. You must either provide an existing email address for the password to be sent to, or have enabled email from your en.wikinews account and specify this as the preferred contact method. For further information, contact an active, established, already-accredited user. Requests for an email address must be verifiable — either submit via 'email this user', or signed and on the talk pages of Acagastya or Gryllida.
Cards	In addition to a wn-reporters.org email address, accredited reporters may — at their own expense — obtain a stock of business cards clearly indicating they are an accredited reporter. You can see a sample here. (Note: degraded to a quality that prevents use.)

Reason: I've not been here long, but I think I could really contribute much more to the project if I receive accreditation. There is a lot happening in my region over the summer, and having a thing to point at to say "I am a legitimate reporter" would help me create news stories more effectively.

Accomplishments: I've done a bit of OR for Wikinews already, as well as published a few articles. You can find a couple of other articles I've written on my personal website. There's a bit of a mix on there, so the link will bring you directly to news-style synthesis articles.

I've also done a bit of work on Wikipedia, you can see my major contributions and permissions over there on my Wikipedia userpage.

• Processes around here are slow, so this request could outlast summer. Experience will certainly be a major question, but I'd be inclined to support if you can point to some events you hope to go to or interviews you hope to conduct for which accreditation will be necessary, and why it'll be necessary for those.   I'd be looking at going to Chase Pride in September, for one, and maybe getting a few interviews of the people working behind it. I'm also in contact with Insomnia Gaming Festival about what the requirements are for their press passes. Walsall Pride is also an event I'd hope to attend where accreditation could be useful. Question Your first edit was on June 9. It's awfully early to request accreditation, regardless of how good your early work has been. Your edit count on other wikis is not that extensive, either. The above listed events seem to be public, so you should be able to attend without credentials or a press pass. What special access would accreditation give you (and I don't mean just a free ticket)? I applied early because I know that things around here run quite slowly, and I am hoping to prove myself as I keep working with the site. I contacted these events as to what services they offer press pass holders, but I haven't yet received a response. It's my hope that they may provide a level of "backstage" access for media, which is quite common in the UK. I am not sure about the specific circumstances for each event, but I am in contact with their organisers and will provide more information here the moment that I receive it. Here's a quote from my correspondence with Player1 Events, who run Insomnia - "you will also have access to the press office and dedicated press management on site to help out". This could be very useful for directly speaking to people involved in the running of the event, maybe getting a couple high-value interviews for the site. • Support: If I was ready for accreditation, Ash is, having written more OR than I have (including after I was accredited). They've shown great dedication and fast learning in the 11 published articles and nearly two months since joining, and I bet that'll continue. All three events look like FA material, if done well. Oppose: Wikinews doesn't just grant accreditation to random people who ask for it. A prospective accredited reporter must first build up trust with the community, getting published here and perhaps even doing original reporting without accreditation. Why should any of us trust you at this time? You have no published articles, and the only one you've written, "10 Difference between Twitter and Threads", was a blatant copyvio and stands in complete opposition to our pillars of writing; we write news, not comparisons between social media platforms. You have two edits, making this request and creating that article. Your only edit on another project was to spam links to the site you copied from. Oppose: As is usually said to anyone with no experience here: Why should we trust you? Your only other edit on Wikinews is creating your user page. Nor do you have extensive experience on other Wikimedia projects.
