Leland Blaine Chapman (born (1976-12-14) December 14, 1976 (age 47), in Groom, Texas^[1]) is a Hawaii-based bail bondsman and bounty hunter. Leland Chapman appears in the television show Dog the Bounty Hunter with his father, Duane "Dog" Chapman.^[2] Leland is Dog's third son, and he helped capture Max Factor's heir, Andrew Luster, with Dog and Tim Chapman. Leland Chapman has two sons, Dakota Chapman and Cobie Chapman. Leland Chapman is also a former boxer, kick boxer and extreme fighter taking part in amateur competitions.

History

Leland's mother is La Fonda Sue Darnall (née Honeycutt). His father is Duane "Dog" Chapman, better known as Dog the Bounty Hunter. Leland was 8 months old when Dog went to prison. While his father was incarcerated, Leland's parents divorced and he didn't see his father again until he was 8 years old whenwhen Dog gained visitation rights to see him and his brother, Leland. It took a very long time for the boys to trust Dog and to bond with Duane Lee and Leland.

Leland lived in Pampa, Texas during his teen years moved to Colorado Springs. He was involved in the gang culture during his childhood. His father moved his family to Hawaii in the early 1990s. Leland's grandparents, Barbara and Wesley Chapman, later joined the family and opened up a bail bonds office on the Big Island of Hawaii. Leland was arrested at age 17 for mugging a tourist.Leland graduated high school in 1993/1994. Leland is the only one out of all of his brothers and sisters to have graduated high school. When Leland was 17 years old he began to train as a boxer, kick boxer, and Mixed Martial Arts fighter. Leland has won many competitions with the help of local boxer Sonny. In 2003 Leland gave up competing in the ring after injuring his left knee even after surgery he was told he could never fight again, unless he risked the loss of use of his leg. During early filming of Dog The Bounty Hunter, Leland can be seen wearing a knee brace after he had spent 4 months off his feet. At age 21, Leland started his own bail bonds company, "Da Kine Bail Bonds," in Kona, Hawaii after earning his bail bonds license. Leland works in the family run bail bonds business with his older brother Duane Lee Chapman as the office manager.

As of March 1, 2010, they no longer sell clothing, stating that personal reasons (family, work) have kept them from devoting the necessary time to manage that aspect of their business. They were on Facebook, but have since closed their acounts for the same reasons listed above (not enough time).
