WikiProject Canada was formed to foster better articles on the country of Canada with a spirit of cooperation. This page and its subpages contain suggestions on formatting and layout of articles, which can be discussed at the project's talk page. To participate, simply add your name at the project member page.

Scope

This project covers the creation and editing of articles related to the nation of Canada, its cities, counties, geography, transportation, culture, history and so on. It aims to expand Wikipedia's resources on Canada in a fair and accurate manner.

  • To join WikiProject Canada (anyone may join), simply list your name under the member page.

As of 2 October, 2010, there are 56,420 articles within the scope of WikiProject Canada, of which 163 are featured. This makes up 1.6% of the articles on Wikipedia and 3.3% of featured articles and lists. Including non-article pages, such as talk pages, redirects, categories, etcetera, there are 123,502 pages in the project.

Project organisation

For requested photographs, in addition to posting your image requests on athe WikiProject's requested photograph list, on the talk page(s) of the subject(s), and on the Wikimedia Commons (Commons:Commons:Picture requests), please also post them at fr:Wikipédia:Atelier photographique on the French Wikipedia. Outline and index

The following pages serve as tables of contents or indexes to Canada-related content on Wikipedia. They need to be developed, and maintained:

  • Outline of Canada - Index of Canada-related articles
    • Refine and maintain the Outline of Canada, a key guide on Wikipedia to Canada as a subject. It serves as a table of contents, summary, and topic outline of coverage on Canada and is the most useful tool on Wikipedia for exploring and understanding fundamental material about Canada (and how it fits together) on Wikipedia. Its purpose is an important one: it simply enables readers to see at a glance how the subject of Canada is broken down, what the main component topics are, and how they relate to each other - that is, how information on Canada is organized (here, and in the world-at-large). It is a site map and outline of knowledge that demystifies the subject known as "Canada". Because of its central role in the presentation of Wikipedia's coverage of this subject, it is very important to develop and maintain it to the highest level of quality: to help readers improve their conceptual awareness and understanding of Canada as well as find their way around the subject on Wikipedia. The Outline of Canada and Index of Canada-related articles, is incomplete, needs your editing contributions.

The type=Silver level is for completion of a major initiative, such as writing a featured article about Canada or standardising a series about one Canada-related topic.
