Alex grew up in [[Pointe Claire]] as the eldest of four hockey playing brothers. Michael plays forward and was Alex's team-mate for the [[Harvard University Crimson]] hockey team. Alex and Michael were the second and third highest point scorers on the Crimson respectively for the 2008-09 season. Danny, another defenseman, is due to join his older brothers at Harvard for the 2009-10 season. The youngest brother, Marc is currently playing with the Lac St Louis Lions of the Quebec Midget AAA Hockey League.

Alex Biega (born 4 April 1988 in Montreal, Quebec) is a professional ice hockey defenseman who currently plays for the Portland Pirates of the American Hockey League.

Playing career

Biega was drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft, chosen 147th overall in the 5nd round. Alex played as the Captain for the Harvard Crimson men's ice hockey team, graduating in 2010. Before his college career at Harvard he played high school hockey at Salisbury School in Salisbury, Connecticut.
