As the article says, this is usually called ''Carmel''; this would also permit easy extension to the "Carmel area". Now, [[Carmel]] is, of course, multiply ambiguous (and most of the claimants are, like the original [[Mount Carmel]], by the sea). Therefore, we should also disambiguate by the standard procedure. Carmel/Carmel area residents
While most of these people lived nearby, evidence is needed to claim that they lived in or owned a home in the village of Carmel-by-the-Sea. Ansel Adams, for example, did not live in Carmel-by-the-Sea. He lived in the nearby community of Carmel Highlands some 4 miles to the South.
