== Request for cult creation (RfCC)==

I am apparently supposed to be a member of a cult for supporting your comments on the RFC. Since I'm at a loss on this one, I'm hoping you can create a cult for me, preferably one with lots of leisure time. Something like the "Cult of Leisure" might work. Please note, the "Cult of Wikipedia" is already taken. [[User:Viriditas|Viriditas]] ([[User talk:Viriditas|talk]]) 00:03, 5 July 2011 (UTC)

DYK for Neil Cooper (ROIR)

Updated DYK query On March 2, 2010, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Neil Cooper (ROIR), which you created or substantially expanded. You are welcome to check how many hits your article got while on the front page (here's how, quick check ) and add it to DYKSTATS if it got over 5,000. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the Did you know? talk page.

Speedy deletion nomination of swim ~

A tag has been placed on Swim ~ requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. — Timneu22 · talk 14:41, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent edits

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 15:09, 18 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

DYK for Swim ~

The DYK project (nominate) 00:02, 24 May 2010 (UTC)

  • Hey Draco--this is the article you referred to, that got speedied right off the bat, no? I was looking through the history. The first thing I would have done would be to insert a reflist and make the reference visible (Iggy looks quite a fright, by the way). That should have alleviated the desire for a speedy. Fortunately, some handy user ("Jayen", or some other strange name?) came by for a hang-on, haha, and the rest is history--I see another helpful editor came along, Thparkth, and from then on it was smooth sailing.

But the point is, of course, that the speedy should have never been applied in the first place. It was the wrong category ("band"--it should have been "corporation/organization"), and there was no justification for it: there was a claim to notability. The editor who put that tag there missed a few more; I found out on Martin Karpan. So, belatedly, please accept my apologies on their behalf (they weren't the apologizing kind). It is clear we mess up sometimes; fortunately, you're still here. A la prochaine, Drmies (talk) 02:39, 4 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

    • Hey Doc! You have nothing to apologize for. I've replied on your talk page. But you know that already ;) Crazy day. Back to the grindstone. Thank you again!--DracoEssentialis (talk) 04:24, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Ivy Alvarez

You are most welcome for the review - I am glad I read the article - it was of real interest.

Now, I have raised the issue of catgorising women from the Phillipines under articles on Filipinos in Wikipedia (eg. having Ivy Alvarez in a list of "Filipino poets" and "Filipino writers"). I found the listing under the old Spanish custom of putting mixed grroups into masculine gender somewhat distasteful in this age of attempts to improve the status of women. So, a discussion has started about how to head such articles so there isn't an inherent sex bias in them. I would be very grateful if you would add your thoughts to the discussion at the category's entry on the Categories for discussion page. Thank you so much, John Hill (talk) 00:02, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Hi again! First of all - congratulations on having your article accepted for the DYK column! I am so pleased - you really deserved it. Now, I have just read all the excellent comments (with links) given by your husband at the category's entry. I thought I would immediately start moving category articles to the less discriminatory for like "Poets from the Phillipines," but discovered i can't work out how to move them to new headings. So, I have left a note asking if anyone can advise how to do this. If you or your husband know how, please let me know unless you want to do it yourselves. Otherwise, I will just wait and see if we get any help from someone else. All best wishes, John Hill (talk) 04:52, 8 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
