Greetings. An article on the WPA would be my first contribution to Wikipedia. I have done extensive research on the society and interviewed the 2003 president. The Whiskey Painters was started in 1951 by a group of hard drinking engineers and artisans. They carried miniature palettes and used cocktails as the agent. Their colllections are sought after and must meet demanding requirements. The membership is limited to 150 watertcolor artists. What do you think? <ref>Wikipedia: Mentioned in article on Russell Colley, inventor of the space suit.</ref> [[User:Checkpoint one four|Checkpoint one four]] ([[User talk:Checkpoint one four|talk]]) 00:40, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

I'm afraid that neither of the links you have provided are enough to establish the notability of the subject. You need to find articles that are actually written about the subject; trivial mention in passing while discussing another subject is insufficient. When an article is created for our encyclopedia, the authoring editor(s) need to be sure to establish the subject's notability in the article by verifying the information with citations to reliable sources, preferably by using footnotes. Articles that don't establish their subject's notability may be deleted. Thanks for writing, if there's any other way we can help, please feel free to stop back. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 15:56, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. The serious problem with the above (which I've removed) is that it is copied verbatim from external sites. Material cannot be copied to Wikipedia from any other source unless it is public domain, licensed compatibly with GFDL or unless we receive explicit permission from the copyright holder through one of the processes set out at WP:Permission. Because we do not require identity verification at account creation, we need this external permission even if the material is placed by the copyright holder him or herself. Because we cannot legally display the text without that on any space in Wikipedia and because the site is clearly not public domain or licensed compatibly (see this), I've removed the text from this page. Wikipedians can use external sites as sources of information, but not as sources of phrases or sentences. Brief quotations may be used if marked and attributed under some circumstances; see our non-free content guidelines for more.
Aside from the very serious matter of copyright, the question would be what reliable sources you might have to verify the "notability" of this plane. (As a product, it is covered under our notability guidelines for organizations and products.) Essentially, what you should be looking for here is widespread coverage in newspapers, magazines, respectable industry websites. These must be unconnected to the subject; material at an official website, for instance, can be used to add detail, but not to verify notability.
If you have such sources, then there should be problems with creating this article. You might want to take a look at existing article Sukhoi Su-33 to get some ideas on how to format it. (Please note, strange as it may sound, that even if you copy material from within Wikipedia, you have to note where it came from. Usually, we do that by linking in the edit summary. For example, if you wanted to base the first sentence of your article off of this: "The Sukhoi Su-33 (NATO reporting name ‘Flanker-D’) is a carrier-based multi-role fighter aircraft produced by Russian firm Sukhoi beginning in 1982", you could do so just coping in your "edit summary" a note like "Some material copied from Sukhoi Su-33". If you decide to do that and want help, please let me know at my talk page. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:09, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. I'm not sure what you propose to do with this material, as it doesn't seem to be an article in Wikipedia's sense. Without more, I can't be sure, but it looks like you might be thinking of crafting a guide to decoration. If so, it is unlikely to be appropriate here, as Wikipedia does not host guides. We do have a number of existing articles on interior design, where a section on "eclectic design" might be appropriate, with reliable sources to verify information. If "eclectic design" is a widely enough utilized concept in interior design, it may warrant an article on its own. (See our notability guidelines to get an idea.) Such an article should be a straightforward presentation of facts about the concept, though, and not a "how to". See Pueblo Revival Style architecture as an example. You might document, for example, the emergence of it as a specific design concept, its prevalence, etc. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 20:01, 30 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for writing. Garena sounds like a very interesting website, but before you write an article about it you need be sure to establish the subject's notability in the article by verifying the information with citations to reliable sources, preferably by using footnotes. Articles that don't establish their subject's notability may be deleted. As a matter of fact, this particular article has already been created and deleted in the past — you may want to read the deletion discussion before you proceed. Hello again, thanks for stopping back! I think you have misunderstood the purpose of the Drawing board, the volunteers who reply to posts on this page are here to assist and advise you on how to go about creating a good article that is unlikely to be deleted. This page is unrelated to the deletion process and Deletion review. I linked to the deletion discussion above so you could so that you could see what the previous reasons the page was deleted were so that you could avoid the same mistakes again. You could bring the article to Deletion review and request that the article be restored, but unless the article adheres to the standards I outlined above, it's unlikely to be a successful request. Also, if you are the same person as Ms919 (talk · contribs), then you should know that the use of multiple accounts is discouraged on the project. If I may speculate, I think part of the problem here is that of a Language barrier — it may be the case that you are having difficulty in understanding our policies. Since you have stated on your user talk page that you are from Iran, you might find it easier to start off editing on the Persian language version of Wikipedia where you will be better able to read and understand the policies. Thanks for writing again and I hope I have helped you better this time. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 12:15, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

i don't know him , and that was my first day that i start article , maybe my language be a bit difficult , but here all can be fix ...sorry i'm too busy , u can give direct link for request restore for my article and rule of request ... ? yes i'm persian .... but must of my friend are from other country ,and i play with other more than persian .... also i had hope too administrator add more info not delete , then i was more able to write better article in my lang too :'( ,... —Preceding unsigned comment added by DeadManN (talkcontribs) 17:49, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I could just send you off to request un-deletion; but it would be like sending a "lamb to the slaughter" because your request would just fail. Don't you think it would be a better idea to address the issues that got the article deleted in the first place?
The article has been deleted twice in the past for the same reason, that it was, "An article about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant". In other words you merely described the website without explaining just what about it makes it important enough to merit an encyclopedia article. The article has to explicitly state what makes the subject important, something like, "This website won the XYZ award for best website". Then you have to prove that statement by showing that third parties have taken note of the website; you do this by providing citations from reliable sources.
I'm not just linking all those words for fun, they're links to the actual policies and guidelines you need to follow to make it so that your article won't be deleted. You need to click on those links and read what they have to say, then apply them to the article. If you follow those rules, then you won't even have to ask for un-deletion because the revamped article will be able to stand on its own.
If you would like, I can create a subpage of your userpage that you can use work on the article in draft form without worrying that it will be deleted. When (and if) it's ready, we can move it into the main article space. Let me know if you would be interested in this.
I hope this helps. Let me know if I may be of any more assistance. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 12:23, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

first place? ////////////// also for proof of my article , you can go to www.garena.com or www.gg-game.com ... from first page download program ... and checks online player (at this time many member are not there (at last any one i know in this forum)i see 94991 online in client) also go to forum and see total member , and also speak with user (must of them answer friends , becuz of game time , and also many hacker ona steal them user accont and sell) also you can have contact with admin .... (maybe they don't answer your mail , and still slow in MSN , one of them is ScoOobY : Email removed for privacy ) go and research ... if admin before delete research about that , i were acquiescent , but google is not good reason for any thing , that's a program writed by people like this site , but just that's too complete , also i like Live.com more than any search program —Preceding unsigned comment added by DeadManN (talkcontribs) 21:57, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The website itself, its promotional material, etc. cannot be used to establish notability because it is what we call a primary source. What is needed are third parties who are not associated with the subject who have written about it in published reliable sources such as a newspapers or magazines. (Primary sources, however, may be used to add information to an article that has already had its notability established through secondary sources.) Regarding your suggestion to interview users of the site, that would not be allowed under any circumstances because Wikipedia has a strict policy prohibiting original research. You also seem to be operating under the misapprehension that we will do this fact-checking for you; this is not the case. We are here to advise you on how to write a good article, not to do it for you. In all honesty, I think you would find yourself having a much easier time working in your native language because you seem to not be understanding the rules I have explained and linked to several times before. The Persian Wikipedia is not a sandbox for kids or something, rather it is a fully functional encyclopedia just like this English language one only that one is written in your native tongue. You are obviously a well-educated and intelligent person (your English is much better than my non-existent Persian!) and I am sure they could use your help in creating a truly great encyclopedia for the free use of all Persian speakers. It's a very worthy goal well worth your consideration. Once again, I hope you have found my reply helpful. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 23:38, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

leave this not important , i leave writing some thing in here ... here's not for me ... or who one like me ... also i forget , and i don't want left my time here for several hours to thinking and write some thing that some one will delete that ... bye mate —Preceding unsigned comment added by DeadManN (talkcontribs) 05:47, 10 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

personal ethics

Personal ethics are some how what we think its right to do.They are not being enforced by anyone but what you see as right to do may not be neccesarily be right for someone else. They differ from one person to person. On the other hand professional ethics are limited in capacity as they are useful in the work place and they are enforced by code of conduct and if you are not following them. You can be punished.

Professional ethics are the only ones that have any legal significance. They are contained in your state's rules of professional conduct for lawyers. On the other hand for personal ethics lying, cheating and stealing are out, as are all other offenses of moral turpitude and dishonesty. Abusing others is out. Filthy language is out because it offends people. Disobedience to lawful authority is a sign one is ethically challenged. Using dope and tobacco, drinking to excess and gambling are signs of louche living and disclose a tendency to skate close to the line, and a lack of self control...if your personal ethics are pegged to "I'll do what I please as long as I think nobody's watching" that's a red flag. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rohit88 (talkcontribs) 13:43, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for writing! Ethics in most modern usage pertains to the codes of conduct of an external group, such as have been written about in our Professional ethics article. Personal ethics, on the other hand, are usually considered to be synonymous with Morals. You may wish to contribute to those and related articles. However, if you do wish to start a new article, you need to be sure to establish the subject's notability in the article by verifying the information with citations to reliable sources, preferably by using footnotes. Articles that don't establish their subject's notability may be deleted. Thanks again for writing and do feel free to stop back if you have any more questions or need more help. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 15:40, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Event Solutions Magazine

| Event Solutions Magazine is one of the larger trade magazines for the Event Publishing Industry. Since it is a | BPA audited magazine. There are a lot of sources out there for an article on this magazine, and it would be great to put an article about this magazine in here. I am going to list some sources which I have found which might help an article.

http://www.event-solutions.com

http://mylifeandart.typepad.com/my_weblog/2007/07/if-you-are-in-p.html http://www.isesorlando.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=106&Itemid=71 http://www.asiaing.com/event-solutions-magazine-november-2005.html http://jaspan.com/event-solutions-magazine http://www.mondotimes.com/2/topics/5/business/110/154 http://lists.nextmark.com/market;jsessionid=E1C8E3A974F94034533C9E67B5906330?page=order/online/datacard&id=131461 http://www.bravoevent.com/Bravo_Sources/BeforeTheEvent/Business_Publications__Media/?launch_pg=vendorHalfBanner&launch_sel=1001069 http://www.plannerwire.com/planner-wire-partners.cfm http://www.crameronline.com/news/cramer-in-the-news/100908.html http://www.openpr.com/news/17740/Event-Solutions-wins-national-award-for-Best-Conference-Expo-from-FOLIO-magazine-beats-The-Oprah-Magazine.html

I don't know if more sources would be necessary, or other sources would be required. I think that because of the inherent COI, that someone else should take on the editing of this article, but I feel it should be added. Eventsolutions (talk) 18:38, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The thing to do, to request that somebody else write the article, would be to either list it at requested articles, which can be a slow process, although sources should help, or to request it at a related Wikipedia:WikiProject. With respect to your sources, some of them may be better than others. Things to look out for include self-published sources, like blogs (unless published by notable industry professionals), and promotional sources, including PR releases and sites that sell the magazine. Best for our purposes are secondary sources, like profiles in newspapers or other industry magazines. I'm trying to think what might make a good WikiProject for this--Wikipedia:WikiProject Media, perhaps? We don't have one that I know of specifically for events. You might also ask at the talk page of a related article, but depending on how heavily monitored the article is, you may not attract much notice. Talk:Event planning, for instance, is extremely quiet. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 19:07, 31 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

University of Illinois Department of Urban and Regional Planning

Would like to post an article discussing the Department of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Illinois to expand upon the page already describing the university. Also it would be an addendum to both the urban planning and regional planning pages. It would offer up additional information on the professional aspects of both jobs. The article would have an explanation of the department itself, and its role in both fields of study.

Welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for writing! DURP does sound like a very worthy organization, but I think it may be a better idea if you were to create a new section in the UIUC College of Fine and Applied Arts article rather than create a wholly new article at this time. When creating a new article, one has to be sure to establish the subject's notability in the article by verifying the information with citations to reliable sources, preferably by using footnotes. Articles that don't establish their subject's notability may be deleted. The references you have listed are primary sources; such self-published works are not usually sufficient to meet the relevant notability criteria. Unlike creating a new article, there would be little problem with using such primary sources to add your information to the existing UIUC College of Fine and Applied Arts article. On another note, for Image:TBH fall.jpg, which was taken from this website and which you uploaded, you need to establish that we have permission under a compatible license from the author or copyright holder to use that image. This may be done in a couple of ways as explained here. That image is currently scheduled for deletion in a week if the licensing issues aren't worked out. I hope my comments have assisted you. Almost Dead (band)

No article has been created for this Bay Area Heavy Metal band that has won several battle of the bands and is being considered by well known labels. Almost Dead has had incredible success on myspace pulling in almost 400,000 profile views and 380,000 total song plays. Almost Dead is also listed by countles bands as an influence due to Almost Dead's unique and innovated sound.

Welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for writing! Almost Dead sounds like a very interesting music group. Before you create an article in our encyclopedia on them, you need to be sure to establish the subject's notability in the article by verifying the information with citations to reliable sources, preferably by using footnotes. Articles that don't establish their subject's notability may be deleted. In this case the relevant notability criteria can be found at Wikipedia:Notability (music). If the "battle of the bands" you have mentioned qualifies as a major music competition, the group may meet the criteria, but you'd still need to document that from secondary sources as I have mentioned above. You may want to ask the members of WikiProject Heavy Metal if the competitions or other qualities about the band merit it an article. I hope my answer has helped you, if you have any more questions or need any more help feel free to stop back! —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 09:42, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan

I could not find an article related to this social/spiritual organization in India.

The main motto of the organization is to bring peace to world through self realization.

I saw a video talk by Jill Bolte Taylor [3] she is a Brain researcher... and towards the end of the talk she describes an experience which is similiar to what has been done by Yogi's from an age old process, that is nothing new, in India ... yogi's are there who do that very often.

And that is what "Divya Jyoti Jagrati sansthan" [4] is all about, the main motto from them is not to draw you into theories but into practical (YES PRACTICAL..AND FREE OF CHARGE ...NO COST AT ALL) introduction of the divine light within a person. And then he floats with this light into a journey of self discovery, then the person beocmes a light onto himself and all the things associated with him, and the peace starts spreading along with him, through his non intrusive actions and work, he becomes an insipiration to others.... There are Reformed HARDCORE CRIMINALS , who have been reformed with this process.... in New Delhi India ... the Central Jail... which is one of the Largest Jail in India... this program is run for the inmates there for the last 10 years....and there are numerous other social activites which the Organization takes like a common problem of Drug Addiction and alcohol abuse, and many more....

I can contribute to the article ... but went through the guidelines of creating a new article on wikipedia.... the drawing board would really be helping me carve out a nice article about this. --Chaar Padarth ka gyaan, Can get you eeshwar mahaan (talk) 14:58, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Would this be the same movement that is detailed in the Divine Light Mission article? Here on the English language Wikipedia, our naming conventions require that article titles be recognizable by English speakers, which may be why you couldn't find it using a title in another language. If Divine Light Mission is not related to what you are writing about, then of course you may start a new article, only be sure to establish the subject's notability in the article by verifying the information with citations to reliable sources, preferably by using footnotes. Articles that don't establish their subject's notability may be deleted. Pentax KX

The Pentax KX was the top-of-the-line mechanical SLR of the K series, introduced in 1975. The KM, K2, and ubiquitous K1000 round out the K series. The KX, a borderline professional/prosumer body, is essntially a Spotmatic F with a better meter in it. The popular Pentax MX is essentially just a miniaturized KX.

Unfortunately that's the only non-forum-post/opinion reference I could find. Information is rare for this uncommon camera... and I hope to fix that! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stevopedia (talkcontribs) 17:09, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for writing! An article on that camera would probably be very interesting. You are right in thinking that having only one source could be a problem because when creating an article one has to be sure to establish the subject's notability in the article by verifying the information with citations to reliable sources, preferably by using footnotes. Articles that don't establish their subject's notability may be deleted. Looking at the articles on Pentax cameras, proper referencing seems to be a problem for all of them. It actually might be a good idea to merge most or all of the articles into List of Pentax products. A person you might want to discuss this further with would be User:Morven because it seems he has been working on starting a Wikiproject on cameras and he may be able to give you further input on where to get good information sources or whether articles should be merged. development

petrelli 49 was inspired by many superhero movies shows and comics (mainly heroes) originaly he to make a series called heroes: future perfect. the story was going to be about hiro, nathan, and peter trying to make the world they lve in a better place. but the idea was droped due to coming up with ideas to corny for the heroes franchise.

he said in an video on his youtube page.

"while wathcing an episode of heroes when they in the future. i thought of making a series like that. i wanted these 4 mutants to be in a future they didn't like so they do what they can to make it better."

he came up with the title because 2012 in some religion is said to be the end of the world and since these mutants don't like the world they are living in it's kind of they're end in humanty.

release

the series is said to be released in 2009 with exodus coming in spring clones in the summer and armegedon in the fall. release dates are possible to change.

Welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for writing! I see that you have already been bold and created the 2012 series article, very good! However, as the article stands right now it is likely to be deleted. You see, when creating an article in our encyclopedia one has to be sure to establish the subject's notability in the article by verifying the information with citations to reliable sources, preferably by using footnotes. Articles that don't establish their subject's notability may be deleted. If you know of secondary sources that have written about this subject, you need to add them to the article. You also need to explicitly state in the article itself in what aspects this new series meets our Wikipedia:Notability (fiction), Wikipedia:Notability (films) and/or Wikipedia:Notability (web) guidelines. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for writing! I see that an article on Mr. Bodie has already been created and speedily deleted with a reason given as, "An article about a real person that does not indicate why its subject is important or significant." Basically what that means is that as an encyclopedia, Wikipedia entries need to indicate exactly how they are important enough to warrant an article in an encyclopedia. When creating an article, one has to be sure to establish the subject's notability in the article by verifying the information with citations to reliable sources, preferably by using footnotes. Articles that don't establish their subject's notability may be deleted. The relevant guideline for a biography would be Wikipedia:Notability (people). Also, if you are writing about yourself you should know that Wikipedia strongly discourages autobiographies and similar conflicts of interest. You may, however, create a short bio on you own user page if you like. I hope my reply has been helpful to you. Welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for writing! As a professional paramedic and a former firefighter myself, I can certainly appreciate your father's bravery and you are very right to be proud of him. I can also understand why he claims not to be a hero... it's because all of us in the rescue business know that any one of us would do the same thing. That and the fact that every year hundreds of firefighter, soldiers, paramedics, and police officers lose their lives while trying to protect or save others. Very often we feel that what we have done is no big deal compared to what those guys did. So, to get your dad an article in the encyclopedia, we have to prove that what he did was indeed exceptional- this is something we call notability. For example, those awards you mentioned, did they come from a national level? That is, was he the NFPA Firefighter of the year or was the medal of valor from the President of the United States? If so than he almost undoubtedly qualifies for an article, if not, the case is more difficult. If his story has gotten significant coverage in several newspapers, magazines, or in a book; then we may be able to make an article for him. Let us know the answers to these questions and we'll go from there, okay? Thanks for writing and remember, your dad is as proud of you and loves you as much as you do him — whether or not he has an article in an encyclopedia will never change that. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 02:20, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I was wondering if now wasn't the time to create a wikipedia page about IfTheWorldCouldVote.com.

It's a website launched in June 2008 where we, three guys from Iceland are giving the world an opportunity to vote for the next president of the United States of America. So far, close to 700.000 people form 211 countries world wide have voted. The site has been covered on thousands of blogs and forums and hundreds of radio stations, TV channels, newspapers and media around the world, including CNN and BBC.

You can read the faq page here: [6]

And more about the process here: [7]

You can see more on the publicity on Yahoo: [8]

Hi. The key to whether or not it belongs is that coverage you refer to on hundreds of radio station, TV channels, newspapers & media around the world. :) (The blogs are not likely to be helpful, as self-published sources.) Unless the website has won some kind of award, you'd probably be looking at the notability point for web sites that it has been widely discussed in reliable sources that are independent from the site itself. Google news certainly seems to support the widely.
You do have a challenge in writing the article, though, in that you are connected to the site. It's not impossible to contribute where you have a conflict of interest, but it is more difficult...sometimes because it may be harder to be neutral and avoid original research, and sometimes simply because Wikipedians are highly suspicious of conflict editing. It really isn't recommended that you create the article, but rather that you suggest it at "requested articles" or propose it at the talk page of a related article or Wikipedia:WikiProjects. If you do decide to write it yourself, be especially scrupulous about sourcing, and you might want to consider creating it first in a user subpage so you can get feedback on it from the conflict of interest noticeboard before moving it to article space.
Thanks for writing, good luck with the article, and it sounds like a fascinating site. Please feel free to stop back by if you have any questions. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:13, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Welcome to the drawing board. She would be governed by the notability guidelines for people. There are different factors to look for for people in different careers, so you may want to look through that guideline since she apparently could fall under several (for example, is her work on permanent display in any museums? Has she received any particularly notable honors for her military career?), but one basic rule of thumb that can be used to determine notability for all subjects on Wikipedia is widespread coverage in reliable sources that are intellectually independent from the subject. The dissertation may or may not be useful, depending on whether or not it is published and by whom. Obviously, if a respectable publishing house has decided to release it, that will strongly help lend to a showing of notability.
If you feel like she meets the notability guidelines, Help:Starting a new page should give you all the guidance you need to get going, but you might also look at Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article. Hi. From what you write here, I'm not sure that this person currently meets our notability guidelines for people. (Most people don't; I don't. :)) Without meeting those guidelines, an article on this person would probably be deleted, either through speedy deletion or after a deletion debate. Also, given your username, it seems like this person may be you. Wikipedia strongly discourages writing autobiographies even if you are notable. If you want to contribute to Wikipedia, helping us write articles, you can put a bit about yourself at your user page. You want to be careful not to go overboard with it, though. Generally, a brief description of who you are may help other contributors collaborate with you here. You wouldn't want it to be your sole focus, and you wouldn't want it to become too detailed. :) You can read a little bit more about what to avoid at "What may I not have on my user page?" ASTRA (Hiphop band)

Astra is the name of a hiphop band started by a group of talented rap artists from south India. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Venu.bharadwaj (talkcontribs) 10:56, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. The first question is whether or not this band meets the criteria at WP:MUSIC. If they do, and that can be verified through reliable sources that are separate from the subject (not, for example, the band's own website), then an article on them is likely to do well at Wikipedia. If not, it would probably be deleted.
If you are closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline strongly recommends that you do not create or edit the article yourself, but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject. If you do choose to write the article in such a case, you'll want to be particularly careful to approach it neutrally and without undue promotion or "original research"—that is, information that you may know to be true but can't verify through a previously published source.
The title you propose is a little more specific than necessary. The words in parentheses are for "disambiguation". They help distinguish multiple articles on the same subject. Since we currently do not have an article called "Astra (band)", there's no reason to create an article called "Astra (hiphop band)".
Help:Starting a new page should give you all the guidance you need, but you might also look at Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article. Please consider taking a tour through the Wikipedia:Tutorial so that you know how to properly format the article before creation. Good luck, and happy editing. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 12:44, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and welcome to the Drawing Board. This particular article would be governed by the notability guidelines on companies. The rule of thumb here is noting whether the company has received significant or widespread coverage in secondary sources that are reliable and independent of the company (excluding company PR releases and information solely available on the company website—these sources may be used for additional information after notability has been established by secondary sources). All material must be attributable.
If you are able to assemble necessary sources to assert notability, you may certainly create such an article, although if you are closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline strongly recommends that you do not create or edit the article yourself, but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject. If you do choose to write the article in such a case, you'll want to be particularly careful to approach it neutrally and without undue promotion. Words like "one of the best" and "especially well-known for its creativity" would need to be attributed to a secondary source. Wikipedia neutrally describes its subjects, and we do not pass judgment on whether or not an ad agency is good or creative. We only report praise or criticism of a subject that have been made by other sources.
Before establishing the article, please search Wikipedia to make sure that an article does not already exist on the subject (possibly under another title). Help:Starting a new page should give you all the guidance you need, but you might also look at Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article. Yuwie

Full article/review collapsed for space considerations

Yuwie.com is another social networking website launched in May, 2007. What’s the different between Yuwie.com and other social networking site is Yuwie.com paying its users just for using it and it’s totally FREE to join. That’s why their membership count is shooting fast like the rocket. On the date of 3rd November 2008 (the date of writing this article), Yuwie.com has 775,733 registered users in total and 1698 new members from 1st to 3rd of November 2008.

Yuwie.com is easy to use. If you had experienced Myspace then it shouldn’t be any problems for you in Yuwie.com.

Yuwie really pay it users, but please do not expecting a big amount from Yuwie. You can accumulate your earning through: 1. getting page views 2. browsing other members’ profiles, pictures, video, blogs. 3. making changes on your profile 4. posting items in your profile

It’s all depending on how active you are in Yuwie. So, please don’t be surprise that if you had 20 friend requests from other members in your first day signup.

Please do not expecting big amount from Yuwie. The earning is not very much, you may probably get 15 cents for 3000 page views. Anyway there is still good news. You will also get credited with a percentage of the page views of any other members you referred to Yuwie. More than that, the referrals of your referrals, and their referrals, for up to 10 levels down. This is what makes people love it so much.

If you are just using Yuwie alone, it never earns you a good amount. But if you refer to your friends and your friends refer to their friend, their friends refer to others, etc then you have the chance to build up your “referral tree”. With the combination of your referrals and their referrals for up to 10 levels down, the potential is there to earn up to hundreds or even thousands per month.

This is the projection of Yuwie income.

LEVEL / REFERRALS / IMPRESSIONS / MONTHLY EARNINGS

1 ................. 3 .................. 3,000 .............. $0.15

2 ................. 9 .................. 9,000 .............. $0.45

Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for writing. Yuwie does sound like an interesting website; however what you have written above comes off a lot more like an advertisement which is something not allowed in the encyclopedia. Articles in our encyclopedia have to written from a neutral point of view giving the facts about a subject, rather than promoting it. Also when creating an article one needs to be sure to establish the subject's notability in the article by verifying the information with citations to reliable sources, preferably by using footnotes. Articles that don't establish their subject's notability may be deleted. You have included no third party sources to demonstrate that the website meets the Wikipedia:Notability (web) criteria. Thanks for taking the time to write and I hope you have found my reply useful. Lynnhaven Oyster Company

Lynnhaven Oyster Company harvests and farms the once-famous Lynnhaven Oyster (aka Lynnhaven Fancy). They are farmed in Broad Bay at the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay and thrive in this location as they are grown in waters mostly surrounded by one of our state parks and just a few miles from the Atlantic Ocean. The salinity ranges from 22ppt-26ppt creating a great environment to farm big salty Lynnhaven Oysters. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cam1cam (talkcontribs) 01:27, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello! Welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for writing! Your company sounds like a very interesting one, especially after perusing the Lynnhaven River article where it explains how these oysters were in serious decline until recently. Before you start an article you should search the encyclopedia to see if an article on the subject already exists. Then when you do start to write, you need to be sure to establish the subject's notability in the article by verifying the information with citations to reliable sources, preferably by using footnotes. Articles that don't establish their subject's notability may be deleted. In the case of a company, the relevant guideline can be found at Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). You should also peruse our tutorial and your first article instructions. Lastly, if it happens to be the case that you are closely associated with the company, you should also read our conflict of interest and advertising guidelines. Thanks again for writing. Welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for writing! This does sound like a very interesting jewelry line and I see that you have been bold and are working on a version of the page on your user page — very good! There are some issues that should be addressed, though. First, the tone of the article makes it read like an advertisement, something that is not allowed in the encyclopedia. All articles are required to be written from a neutral point of view. Also, large portions of it seem to have been copied verbatim from the company's website which, unless the website's content is released under a compatible license, is a copyright violation. In general, before you create an article you should search the encyclopedia to be sure that the article doesn't already exist; sometimes an article will have a title that is a variation from what you might think. Then, when you start to write, you need to be sure to establish the subject's notability in the article by verifying the information with citations to reliable sources, preferably by using footnotes. Articles that don't establish their subject's notability may be deleted. The relevant guideline in this case would be Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). Additionally, if you are closely associated with this company, you should read our conflict of interest guideline. Thanks again for writing and I hope that you have found my reply helpful. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 15:09, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Starting an article about a business?

I am trying to learn how it is appropriate to start an article about a business, I notice that there are businesses such as VistaPrint that have articles on wikipedia, but the first attemt I made at trying to construct an article was taken down in 5 minutes. I have read and reread the rules and I have rewritten my article, but I am afraid to post it? Can anyone give me advise on what to do next? If I put it on my user page to try it out will it be deleated?

Thanks, MegaPrint (talk) 15:09, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

It might very well be. We have guidelines on user pages that defines what should be included there. I'll take a look at your article to see if I can help you figure out the issue. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:42, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. The article was deleted as promotional. A glance at the contents doesn't reveal any particular non-neutral language, but it also did not offer much by way of encyclopedic commentary. And there is the problem of your username. Wikipedia strongly discourages conflict of interest editing. We also discourage the use of a company name as a username. The combination of username and lack of encyclopedic detail might lend to an interpretation that you introduced this article in an effort to publicize the company, which is not our purpose here.
As you are connected to the company, you should read over the conflict of interest guideline I linked above and also Wikipedia:FAQ/Business. Ideally, you should not write an article about your own company, but should instead propose it at requested articles or at the talk page of a related article or Wikipedia:WikiProject. If it can be verified through reliable sourcing that the company meets our inclusion guidelines for companies, one of Wikipedia's volunteers may choose to create it. If you do choose to write the article in spite of your connection, please be scrupulously careful with sourcing and tone and avoid including unpublished information. You might even consider creating the article in a user subpage and requesting feedback at the conflict of interest noticeboard. While it's good to be up front about your connection to the company, please also consider changing your username. If it is perceived by the combination of your username and your article contributions that you are here only to promote your business, your account and your IP address could be blocked from editing. It is much better to use a neutral name and to disclose your connection under it. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 15:54, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
(edit conflict)Welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for writing! Your article on MegaPrint, Inc was speedily deleted as being "Blatant advertising. Pages which exclusively promote some entity and which would need to be fundamentally rewritten to become encyclopedic." I also note that the similarly titled Megaprint Inc. article was deleted two months ago for similar reasons, see Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Megaprint Inc.. I don't have access to either of the pages now that they have been deleted, but judging from your user name I will hazard a guess that you have a conflict of interest and the article that you wrote was inappropriate in tone. All articles in the encyclopedia are required to be written in a neutral point of view, in other words while it is okay to write about a company, it is not permitted to promote the company. It is very difficult to write neutrally about subjects we are closely associated, so the practice is discouraged. Also, to explain more generally about writing articles, one needs to be sure to establish the subject's notability in the article by verifying the information with citations to reliable sources, preferably by using footnotes. Articles that don't establish their subject's notability may be deleted. In this particular case the relevant notability guideline can be found at Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). To sum up; if your company is notable someone else will eventually write an article about it, but you should not write it yourself — especially since doing so can have unintended consequences. I hope that you have found my reply useful. Please feel free to stop back with any other questions you may have. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 16:47, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Schmeeckle Reserve, Stevens Point Wisconsin

Schmeeckle Reserve is s 275 acre natural land area located on the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point. It contains hiking trails, natural land area, a visitor center, multiple different habitats, numberous wildlife and a lake (Lake Joanis). "The Reserve was created to protect and restore native ecological communities, serve as an outdoor classroom for students and teachers, and provide recreational opportunities to all visitors." (Schmeeckle Reserve website, [10])

History

Before 1956 the current Schmeeckle Reserve was farmland and grazing land. This land, however was not fertile enough to support a large plant population for agriculture due to the rock formations located very near to the surface. The University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point began purchasing this land, which is located to the North of campus, in 1956. Students from the University were called out to fight fires many times. In 1969 a total of 127 acres of land was owned by the university. There was some debate of how to use this land, whether for residence halls, student housing, athletic fields and other options. Finally in 1974 the university proposed to use this land for a natural area and hiking trails.

Lake Joanis was created due to the construction and completion of the Sentry Insurance Complex just north of the Reserve. Soil needed for construction and leveling of the ground underneath the complex was taken from the area currently known as Lake Joanis (spring water filled in the hole left).

Schmeeckle Reserve was established in 1976 with a $250,000 Land and Water Conservation Grant. Also at this time the 50 acres wtih Lake Joanis was included within the reserve. The Visitor Center was created in 1979 after the purchase of a local farmers land and home. The current visitor center is the renevated home. In 1984 when the Conservation Hall of Fame was created, Schmeeckle Reserve was its home. In 1998 the reserve totalled 275 acres with the purchase of 75 acre Berard Oacks area.

Fred Schmeeckle

Fred Schmeeckle, the namesake of the reserve, was a professor from Nebraska who taught at the Stevens Point Normal School. He taught agriculture but was also a supporter of conservation education. In the 1930s the School began teaching conservation courses. This program is now the largest undergraduate natural resesources program of its kind in the nation.

Plant and Animal Life

The habitats within the Reserve are many and varied. Cattails and Marsh areas along with Prairies are common. Pine, Oak and Decidouous forests are also contained within the Reserve. Lake Joanis is an important inclusion as well. wildlife common to the reserve range from frogs, deer, rabbits, squirrels, turtles, geese, ducks, and many other bird and small mammal species.

Hi. :) As long as you're careful not to follow too closely on the original source (I'm not sure why you have a sentence completely quoted from the article rather than rephrased?), it should be good to go. If it were my article, I'd consider adding some secondary sources, too. There seem to be quite a few of them available judging by a google books search (limited previews are the next best thing to a library trip!) and this. I like to aim for about five secondary sources at article creation, just to verify that my topic meets notability guidelines. This would be easily done by sourcing some of this information elsewhere. For example, the first sentence can be sourced thusly: "Alden, Sharyn (2001). Historical Wisconsin Getaways: Touring the Badger State's Past. Big Earth Publishing. p. 108. ISBN 0915024934." (In the edit window, you can see the template that I used to get that.) A couple such sources can help even the most die-hard deletionist to recognize the notability of the topic. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:12, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. The first and most serious problem with the above (which I've removed) is that the site you've duplicated is copyrighted. Because we cannot legally display the text without that on any space in Wikipedia, I've removed it from this page.
The second issue concerns sourcing. The text removed would certainly indicate that the individual is notable, but Wikipedia verifies notability for biographies by utilizing reliable "secondary" sources, intellectually independent of the subject. (See the following policies and guidelines for more information on that: WP:BIO, WP:V, WP:RS.) I would imagine that you would be able to assemble newspaper or magazine articles or independent website coverage on this individual. Sources connected to the individual can be used to add detail or substantiate facts, but can't be used to verify notability.
An article of this sort would be covered by Wikipedia's guidelines on "biographies of living persons", which in part urges editors to be extremely careful not to include any information that isn't sourced, even if it's true, and also reminds us that biographies particularly must be written from a neutral point of view.
If you are closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline urges great caution, particularly with neutrality and not adding information you know to be true but cannot verify. It is strongly recommended that you do not edit an article on a subject with which you have a conflict of interest but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject.
Help:Starting a new page should give you all the guidance you need to get this going, but you might also look at Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article. Please consider taking a tour through the Wikipedia:Tutorial so that you know how to properly format the article before creation. Thanks, and happy editing. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:20, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lean Engineering - Lean Product Development

An increasing number of industrials groups are looking at so called "Lean Engineering" : some of them are assessing its potential contribution while others have initiated its full size implementation, finally some just "do it" !

But what "Lean Engineering" actually means ? Lean approaches have long been put in place for production (manufacturing, administrative processes, processes...), but when it comes to Engineering and Product Development, different interpretations of Lean can be figured out :

  • One is to consider Engineering as a "Design Factory", where Product Value Stream oriented principles inspired by Lean Manufacturing shall be put in place : reducing stocks (of information), diminishing non-value added tasks (looking for information), better sequencing of tasks for cycle time reduction, etc...
  • Another, inspired by Toyota, is not only to tackle the Product Value Stream but to re-consider some concepts and principles of design : learning first and then develop i.e. go as much in details in up-stream feasibility phases with Set-Based Engineering and knowledge orientated management tools.

This article idea is to gather references and material about Lean Engineering or Lean Product Development, in order to share good practices. —Preceding unsigned comment added by OlivierSchmitt (talkcontribs) 09:22, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and welcome to the drawing board. :) My first thought is that it sounds as though some of this material might be appropriate for development at Lean Systems. It seems as though there might be overlap if you created a separate article. But from what you say about your purpose--"in order to share good practices"--I wanted to point out that our purpose here is not share good practices or pass judgment (ourselves) on what practices are good, but simply to note as a reference guide what previously published sources already say about topics. Some potentially useful reading for that, if I'm understanding your purpose correctly, would be Wikipedia:NOT#Wikipedia is not a manual, guidebook or textbook, Wikipedia:No original research and Wikipedia:Wikipedia in brief. In other words, if the (probably fictional) book The Professional Guide to Lean Engineering says, "Practice X is considered effective in lean engineering," then we can indicate as much, but otherwise we should not. It has to be published somewhere else first before we can include it here. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:36, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, and Welcome to Wikipedia! The answer to your question is it depends. The notability guidelines on companies also covers products; it requires verification through reliable, independent sources. Is there coverage of this product in newspapers, magazines or reliable industry websites that is not directly or indirectly released by the company? (Press releases, for instance, do not count.) If there is such coverage, and its widespread, than the product is notable.
(If it is, since you seem to be closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline strongly recommends that you do not create or edit the article yourself, but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject.) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:45, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Darragh Schick

Darragh Schick, a worldwide known trumpet player for the Royal Opera House of Yugoslavia, was born on July 16, 1944. She was born in the small town of Yverdon in Switzerland her parents by Hrodohaidis and Ljubomir Schick. Her father, Ljubomir Schick, was once a famous opera singer in the opera house so that is how she got her admittance into this prestigious and renown musical theatre. Her mother was a seamstress and made her clothes for her performances, as well as the rest of the casts'. However, before Darragh was so warmly welcome in the Royal Opera House of Yugoslavia, she was once a member of the infamous group, The Beatles but was kicked out because of her extrodinary talent. Paul was jealous that the other members liked her better than him so he kicked her out. Now, the Royal Opera House of Yugoslavia is where her heart is and they respect her talent and treasure it greatly. After having the honor to play with such outstanding performers, Darragh found love and a bestfriend. She found love in one of her fellow performers, Shawn Fricker (who was rasied in Germany). He played the triangle and it was love at first sight. And she found an unbreakable friendship and bond in a man named John Dimaio, the Opera House's fantastic cymbal clapper. Darragh and Shawn married on her birthday of 1970 and had a child by the name of Acueucyoticihuati Schick; she is named after Darragh's Mexican grandmother whom Darragh loved dearly. After Acueucyoticihuati was born, Darragh and Shawn needed extra money to support the family. John decided to help out and him and Darragh started a business called: DARRAGH'S SPANISH: Learn Spanish Darragh's way for only 3 payments of $27.61. The business took off and now Darragh is a famous trumpet player and a Spanish teacher on 8track. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Darraghbaby (talkcontribs) 5 November 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I see you've already created this in article space, and that it was speedily deleted. One of the core policies on Wikipedia is that information in articles be verifiable. Can someone else please have a look at the Vishay Intertechnology article? Hi. I'm afraid you may have landed in the wrong place for this one. :) The Drawing Board is a forum for discussing articles that you intend to write, to get feedback on them from other editors if you aren't sure that they're appropriate for inclusion or would like tips on how to proceed. If you want to request feedback on the neutrality of an existing article, you might want to ask at the neutral point of view noticeboard or, given your concerns about self-promotion, the conflict of interest noticeboard. In the meantime, I have placed a couple of "maintenance tags" on the article that may draw the attention of other volunteers. You can find a whole compendium of these at Wikipedia:Template messages. For this one, I've used {{advertisement}} and {{PrimarySources}}, to indicate that language may not be encyclopedic and that we need secondary sources to support the article. Perhaps someone will remedy those concerns. Thanks for keeping an eye out for article quality! --Moonriddengirl (talk) 11:50, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Aefelds.

The above is a little light on context for me to figure out precisely what you're talking about. I'm not sure what an ERP solution is, for instance, or how this cluster of presumably related companies may represent the evolution of it. When creating an article, you do want to be sure to give enough information that our generaly readership can understand what you're talking about.

There are some specific factors that might make it appropriate for inclusion, but the general rule of thumb is noting whether the web series has received significant or widespread coverage in secondary sources that are reliable and independent of the company (excluding company PR releases and information solely available on the company website—these sources may be used for additional information after notability has been established by secondary sources).
If you wish to create the article, you will either need to register an account, which has many benefits, including the ability to create articles, or post it at Wikipedia:Articles for creation, where other editors will review it to be sure it meets policies and, if so, create it for you.
Before establishing the article, please search Wikipedia to make sure that an article does not already exist on the subject. Help:Starting a new page should give you all the guidance you need, but you might also look at Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article. Sir James Drake, Pioneer of the National UK Motorway Network

With the forthcoming 50th anniversary of the Preston By-pass (5th December 2008), the first length of motorway in the UK, it seems appropriate to recognise the achievement of this Lancashire civil engineer. He largely single handledy persuaded the Ministry of Transport to back the construction of a new type of road around Preston and to back this up with a succession of schemes that would eventually link to form the longest motorway in the country. In the 1930s Lancashire County Council saw that recent new highway schemes had significant accident records, often due to unregulated exit and entry onto the new roads, vehicle collisions from traffic crossing the carriageway or the new roads being occupied by traffic travelling at vastly different speeds. These situations all led to high accident rates.

Traffic congestion, quality of life and travelling time through and across Preston was proving unacceptable due to a combination of north/south traffic on the A6, east/west traffic on the A59, and holiday traffic to and from Blackpool and the Lake District. This meant that Preston was suffering from the effects of increased car ownership and usage in the UK and the switch of freight traffic from rail to road.

His contribution to Lancashire, the north west of England and to the development of the national motorway network seems to currently be largely unrecognised by Wikipedia. —Preceding unsigned comment added by John Gatheral (talkcontribs) 23:34, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and welcome to wikipedia. The first thing I would point out is that Wikipedia is not a place to recognize people who have not been written about by reliable sources. Take a look at the both the general notability guideline and the guideline on individual notability. Another recommendation I would give is most of what you have written so far gives the background on the road system, and doesn't specify what his contributions were. -Optigan13 (talk) 07:32, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your comments and explanation - this is all very new to me. The only source that I have found up to now was in the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography website where he has a fairly lengthy entry, perhaps a thousand words. I wanted, in the first instance, to submit something to Wikipedia to better understand the procedures, rather than develop a full entry, only to find that it would not be possible to post on the site. I obviously need to gather material, images etc and knock it all into shape, my aim is to try to do this over the next few weeks. Any other tips or hints would be most welcome. —Preceding unsigned comment added by John Gatheral (talkcontribs) 10:03, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

James Drake (1907–1989) was born on 27 July 1907 in Burnley, Lancashire. He was educated at Accrington Grammar School and at the Victoria University of Manchester, where he graduated in 1927 with a first class honours degree, a BSc in Civil Engineering. He passed the professional examinations of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) in April 1931, was accepted as an Associate Member in 1933 and as a full Member in 1943. He married Kathleen Shaw in July 1937 and they had two daughters.

He first worked for Stockport County Borough Council from 1927 to 1930, from where he joined Bootle County Borough Council, working there until 1937. He moved to Blackpool County Borough Council, initially as Deputy Engineer and Surveyor and in 1938 he took up the post of Chief Engineer and Surveyor at Blackpool.

In his early working life James Drake worked on the design and delivery of a wide variety of municipal engineering projects; an eighteen hole golf course; a sports stadium; housing estates; libraries; schools; sea defences; sewerage systems; Britain's first multi-storey car park; and a 7 mile ring road. In the mid and latter stages of his career, highway schemes were to play an increasingly significant role in his portfolio of work and he was to play a lead role in the development of a national strategic road network.

In 1936 the first Trunk Roads Act saw central government become involved in road building for the first time. In the same year the Institution of Highway Engineers published a plan for nearly 3,000 miles of motorways in the UK. James Drake viewed Germany's autobahns in 1937 with the County Surveyors' Society, which published its own plans for 1,000 miles of motorway in Britain in 1938. James Drake became a committed proponent for the construction and development of a motorway network for speed, safety and improved communications and commerce. —Preceding unsigned comment added by John Gatheral (talkcontribs) 22:38, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. ODNB is certainly a good step towards establishing notability. Have you had any luck locating additional sources? A sometimes gold-mine for me is google books. There are some promising leads there for this: see here. If I were writing this article, I'd be very pleased to find material like this. (If you aren't familiar with google books, you can find all the information you need to cite them by pressing "more about this book" to the side. I might use that book, for instance, by writing, "James Drake was a leader in the effort to create a national (what? motorway system?) in England."[1]. In a reference section, that footnote will look like this:

Bridle, Ron (2003). The Motorway Achievement: Frontiers of Knowledge and Practice. Thomas Telford. p. 304. ISBN 0727731971. ...both the Department and the county councils were ready to start on the great motorway programme. Lancashire were to the fore under the visionary leadership of James Drake... {{cite book}}: Unknown parameter |coauthors= ignored (|author= suggested) (help)CS1 maint: location missing publisher (link)

I used a handy citation template, Template:Cite book to format it. Quotations are optional and should be limited in brief sources in order to comply with our non-free content criteria. We have other templates for journals or websites or newspapers. You can read more about that at Wikipedia:Citing sources.
Also potentially useful here is google news, though with the older biographies they can be limited. Sadly, most older archived news stories are tucked behind pay walls. :/ (You can still use them if you can reference them, though we prefer freely available sources so any reader can verify.
With a few sources, particularly sources that indicate as clearly as that one "This gentleman was important", your article should be secure. :) --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:18, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Aberdare Grasshoppers Junior Football Club

Situated in the Cynon Valley, South Wales, the Club was founded in 1997 by a group of parents who decided that they wanted their children to play football, hence the formation of the Grasshoppers.

Amongst the founder members was Mark Barnes who became Chairman and who directed the Club in it's aims for a total of 8 years before he stepped down allowing Chris Welch to take over the reigns in 2006.

It was under Mark's leadership that the Grasshoppers started with one football team, and throughout subsequent years the Club has continually increased in players, coaches and teams. Treasurer for 10 years was Huw Bond who stepped down allowing Steve Pearce to have the honour of becoming Treasurer, Steve also holds this position with ENTO Aberaman Athletic AFC. Aberaman FC was founded in 1892 and was one of the founder members of the Welsh League in 1902-03. Like many clubs in the late 1800's their early history is lost in the mist of time. It would be true to say that they established themselves as one of the best sides in the valley earlier on. For instant recognition regarding their early status is shown by stark statistic that in 1902-03 season they were finalists in the Welsh Cup. 10 years later (1912-13) they were finalists in the Welsh Amateur Cup. They won the South Wales and Monmouthshire Senior Cup in 1902-03 and in the 1911-12 and 1912-13 seasons they were winners of the South Wales and Monmouthshire Amateur Cup. In 2006, a memorandum of understanding was made between both Aberaman and the Grasshoppers for the Grasshoppers to become the official feeder club to Aberaman, as a result the oldest team each season within the Grasshoppers club automatically become Aberaman players. This is normally an U16 team and when players reach the age of 16 within the season, providing they are good enough, they could be selected by the team management of the senior team. In conjunction with the memorandum of understanding, the Grasshoppers were approached by ENTO for a 3 year sponsorship to which the Club would for the period of the sponsorship be known as ENTO Aberdare Grasshoppers, it also involved the purchase of new kit to follow in the fashion of Aberaman AFC, Huw Bond raised his concerns of the change of colours from the red/green style to royal blue stating that “it was selling the soul of the Club”. This deal expires in the summer of 2009.

Also in 2006 the Grasshoppers progressed to entering an all girls team into the South Wales Girls Football League. This was the first for any Club situated within the Cynon Valley to run an all girls team and at present the club runs both under 16 and under 14 all girls teams, with plans to run a under 12 team in the season 2009 - 2010. Instrumental in setting up the Girls division of the Club was Lorraine Olson, this section of the Club has further been enhanced by fellow coaches Alison Lloyd and Gareth Williams.

Historically, and since the Grasshoppers conception, Club meetings were held in the Seren Y Bore in Aberdare once a month, but since August 2008 the Grasshoppers utilise Aberamans AFC’s Clubhouse. Meetings are still once a month, with the yearly AGM held in June for the election of committee officers. The Club follows a strict agenda for meetings to ensure that all represented teams within the Club are considered and concerns raised. At each meeting football training videos are shown to further enhance Coaches skills and further their development. Meetings are not strictly business orientated by also a social event to have a drink, unwind and discuss issues with coaches that train and play on different days to each other.

The Grasshoppers in 2008 were fortunate to obtain major sponsorship(s) from TYCON Civil Engineering and Underwood Insurance Services Ltd, these sponsorship(s) were matched almost pound for pound by Sportsmatch Cymru Wales. Gallery Loft Conversions also came forward to sponsor a junior team. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Exemption (talkcontribs) 15:29, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for writing! The Aberdare Grasshoppers certainly do sound like an interesting organization. Before you start your first article there are a few things that you should do. First you should search to be sure we don't already have an article on the subject. Sometimes an article's title may not be what you first expect it to be, so it's a good idea to also search related topics; the subject may even be included as part of a larger article that you can expand. When you actually start to write the article, you need to be sure to establish the subject's notability in the article by verifying the information with citations to reliable sources, preferably by using footnotes. Articles that don't establish their subject's notability may be deleted. The relevant guideline in this case would be Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies). Welcome to Wikipedia and thanks for writing! I see that you have been bold and created the Lexi Blade article already, very good! I have corrected the article's capitalization error for you by moving it. Since you came for help, I'm sure that you're aware that the article has some serious deficiencies in content, or to be more blunt — it has no content at all and is in danger of being speedily deleted because of that. From your post above I'm lead to believe that you would like someone else to write the article for you, the correct forum for that would be requested articles; but they do have a backlog there. The Drawing board is here to help you to write a good article, so I'm going to write some advice on what you can do with the article you've started. Usually before writing an article you should search to see if the encyclopedia doesn't already have an article on the subject. Often an article may be under a different title than you expect it to be, so it is a good idea to search related topics as well. Sometimes you might find the subject addressed as part of another article that you can then expand. You've already created this article and it doesn't seem to be a duplicate as far as I can tell, so next on to what to do with it now. You need to be sure to establish the subject's notability in the article by verifying the information with citations to reliable sources, preferably by using footnotes. Articles that don't establish their subject's notability may be deleted. The relevant guideline in this case would be Wikipedia:Notability (people) which has a special section on Pornographic actors. For general tips on the actual mechanics of writing an article, you might want to have a look at our tutorial. I hope my response has helped you, please feel free to stop back if you have any more questions or need any more help. —Elipongo (Talk contribs) 21:43, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, and Welcome to Wikipedia! :) In order to create an article about that person, you'll need to be able to assert notability per Wikipedia's notability guidelines on biographies, which will mean utilizing reliable secondary sources, like newspaper articles. The subject's own websites are not usable for this purpose, although they can be used to add detail to an article. An article of this sort would be covered by Wikipedia's guidelines on "biographies of living persons", which in part urges editors to be extremely careful not to include any information that isn't sourced, even if it's true, and also reminds us that biographies particularly must be written from a neutral point of view.
If you are able to assemble necessary sources and if your subject meets the notability requirements, you may choose to create the article yourself, although if you are closely associated with the subject, our conflict of interest guideline urges great caution, particularly with neutrality and not adding information you know to be true but cannot verify. It is strongly recommended that you do not edit an article on a subject with which you have a conflict of interest but instead consider proposing its creation at requested articles or at a related article or relevant WikiProject.
Help:Starting a new page should give you all the guidance you need, but you might also look at Wikipedia:Your first article and Wikipedia:How to write a great article. Please consider taking a tour through the Wikipedia:Tutorial so that you know how to properly format the article before creation. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:33, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Wholesale Fashion Square

About Wholesale Fashion Square Wholesale Fashion Square is one of the biggest clothing and apparel wholesale distributors in Los Angeles, CA. We are in business since 2006. Wholesale Fashion Square started as a brick and mortar store smaller than it is now and grew faster in barely two (2) years. Now, we own a huge warehouse in Los Angeles, CA, a brick and mortar store and an online store that caters to hundreds of loyal domestic and overseas clothing retailers worldwide. Our success is due to many factors. Perseverance is one, hard word, excellent business model, quality and great pricing on top of all, excellent customer service. Because of our tireless effort in finding the best deal in wholesale clothing and apparel inventory, we have realized that dealing directly with direct importers and buying in the traditional wholesale pricing, we will not be as competitive as we are now. We started to source out for closeout inventory from big liquidators, business that are folding, and those that directly from manufacturing companies and importers but buying in bulk for a price of hundreds of thousand dollars per shipment. The process allows us to sell the merchandise in a much lower price than the industry standard. Per package price is a lot lower than most which is about 60% - 80% lower than retail. And if you’re lucky, you can get an even lower price up to 95% off from their clearance rack which runs all year long. On top of that, there is no minimum order allowing the smallest clothing retailer to afford to buy inventory to resell. If you purchase an item of $200 and up, you even get free shipping to continental US. For those overseas buyers, we also give shipping price break. Because of this, the business has evolved and we now become one of the biggest suppliers in and around the country as well as overseas for all kinds of wholesale clothing and apparel including jewelry and fashion accessories. The success of the business is not just about the price, it is also about the quality of the merchandise they sell. Not because we are buying closeout and liquidated inventory, we settle for just about anything. One of the key successes to our business is buying high quality merchandise in bulk for a lot less passing the savings to the retailers. Lastly, our customer service is superb second to none. Among the women’s clothing and apparel we sell are jeans, tops, plus size, dress, active wear, jewelry, costume jewelry, skirts sweaters, jackets, pants and some men’s clothing as well. We have about 10,000 different items, styles, colors and sizes to choose from. The shipping process is also seamless as you can track your order as soon as you get your order confirmation. And to make ordering to us a lot easier, we accept all kinds of payment from credit card, PayPal, corporate and personal checks, bank wire transfer, cashier’s check and money order. Wholesale Fashion Square, is definitely the best supplier of wholesale women’s clothing and apparel that offers deeply discounted prices affordable to all! Hi. I see that this one has already been deleted once as overly promotional, and I'm very much afraid that any article along these lines would be as well. Articles on Wikipedia must be written neutrally—we wouldn't refer to your "excellent customer service", for instance, unless a reliable source had done so first, and then we would attribute it: "In its profile of the company, the LA Shopping Guide praised the "excellent customer service".<ref>Full details on where this comes from.</ref>. There are many such points of concern in the above text: "seamless" shipping processes, "superb" customer service, "tireless" efforts. Much of this language is not neutral. We also wouldn't write the article in first person, which brings me to another problem: your evident connection to the subject.
Wikipedia has developed guidelines to help people who are closely connected to a subject see how they can best contribute to it. These are located here. Also of use is our Business FAQ. Essentially, they emphasize the same rules to which all contributors must adhere: neutrality, good sourcing and avoidance of including unpublished information or personal observations. But if you have a conflict, it is particularly important that you adhere to these policies in order to make it clear that you are not attempting to use Wikipedia as a forum to advertise your business. We do not accept advertisements on Wikipedia. Rather, we're here to collect previously published information about notable topics.
The final point to consider here is precisely that: the notability of this company. We have specific notability guidelines; the ones on companies & organizations can be found here. In order for this article to survive the speedy deletion process, you would want to neutrally assert what makes it significant or important. In order to secure it, you would want to verify how it meets that notability guideline with reliable sources that are separate and distinct from the subject. PR releases and the company's own websites cannot be used for this purpose. What we look for here are things like newspaper articles, magazine profiles, references at reliable industry websites. --Moonriddengirl (talk) 14:51, 11 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please see Your first article.

  1. Ensure that you have an account and you are logged in. If you don't have an account, create one
  2. Make sure the subject is notable enough to have their own article
  3. Find references
  4. Make sure no article on the subject exists under a different title by typing the subject into the search box to the left (←) and clicking 'Search'
  5. Type the page name in the search box to the left (←) and click 'Go'
  6. Click 'Create this page'
  7. Create the article, including all your references, making sure you adhere to the Manual of Style and our article layout guidelines
  8. Be aware that Wikipedia deletes thousands of new articles for failing to adhere to our policies and guidelines. New articles by new users are at extra risk of deletion, due to new users' unfamiliarity with our rules. With respect to the article I would recommend against creating the article unless you can satisfy the general WP:Notability guidelines which require significant coverage by at least two reliable sources. In addition take a look at the WP:WEB notabiltiy guidelines which cover web content. Based on the website name and your username you may want to look at the WP:Business' FAQ, since I'm assuming you have some professional relationship with the website. -Optigan13 (talk) 07:28, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

NEW IDEA

We need to think outside of the box, people! Think different. One kid in my 7th grade wrting class (when I was young)wanted to do a topic on opinions. I loved this idea, so I said seach on AWikipedoa, it has everything. He didn;t find anything and instead left a comment, make an opinion page. They came out with a page about how opinions are formulated but not actual opinions, I would like to do a page of polls that people have voted on and add a bit on how opinions are fromulated —Preceding unsigned comment added by Sporty95 (talkcontribs) 19:31, November 11, 2008

Hi and welcome to Wikipedia. The first thing I would recommend is that you take a look at Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. Wikipedia is not a place to publish original thought or research, nor is it a venue for advocacy of a particular topic. While wikipedians have performed informal polls in the past on various topics, it is generally believed that polling is not a substitute for discussion and polls are rarely held anymore. -Optigan13 (talk) 07:44, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The Whiskey Painters of America: A Short Brush With Alcohol

Hi, and welcome to Wikipedia. I would recommend you check out Wikipedia:Your first article if you haven't already. If you have research on the material make sure it is from reliable sources like newspapers, published books, etc. Unfortunately we can't use interviews you've conducted, since it's original research. -Optigan13 (talk) 07:52, 13 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
