The al-Fakhura School massacre refers to the Israeli Air Force bombing of a United Nations-run school in Jabaliya refugee camp in the Gaza Strip on January 6, 2009. At least 40 people were killed.[1]

People inside had been taking refuge from the Israeli ground offensive.

Witnesses said at least one Israeli missile struck the school, causing a large explosion and spraying shrapnel on people both inside and outside the building.

This was the second Israeli air strike on a UN-run school that day. At least three Palestinians were killed when a school was targeted in the Shati refugee camp.
