Samrukia is a large Cretaceous bird known from a lower jaw discovered in Kazakhstan. The holotype and only known specimen was collected from the Kyzylorda District. Samrukia was first named by Darren Naish, Gareth Dyke, Andrea Cau, François Escuillié and Pascal Godefroit in 2011 and the type species is Samrukia nessovi. A cladistic analysis by Naish et al. showed that Samrukia is a basal member of Ornithuromorpha.[1][2]
