How daft of me!

I should have awarded you with this right away.

The Photographer's Barnstar
I, Pericles, award User:Mbz1 this honorary barnstar in recognition of her most excellent and thoughtful work in touching up File:Arm less man.JPG, drastically improving the visual quality of a valuable historic image used in Parthian Empire and several other articles at Wikipedia. I bow to you madam, and thank you! Pericles of AthensTalk 17:23, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you very much!--Mbz1 (talk) 21:22, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You're very welcome! You can keep track of the progress I'm making on my draft here if you like: User:PericlesofAthens/Draft for Parthian Empire. I've yet to add your picture, but it will be placed in an appropriate section, most likely "nobility" or "art and architecture". Cheers buddy.--Pericles of AthensTalk 22:25, 14 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Barnstar

I don't hand Barnstars out very often, in fact, I can't remember the last time I did so. I had promised you one, if Herrengasse 23 became a DYK but, it seems the world and Wikipedia must remain in ignorance. However, you have contributed greatly to my crusade to give recognition to lesser and little known buildings - so here it is and you desearve it:

PS: I would like to give Sandstein something similar for the really good photos, but don't think it wise to hand him a sharp pointy object when I am the vicinity. I will thnk on it.  Giacomo  18:58, 23 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Neighborhood Bully

Wandering Jew

Well, the neighborhood bully, he’s just one man,
His enemies say he’s on their land.
They got him outnumbered about a million to one,
He got no place to escape to, no place to run.
He’s the neighborhood bully.

The neighborhood bully just lives to survive,
He’s criticized and condemned for being alive.
He’s not supposed to fight back,he’s supposed to have thick skin,
He’s supposed to lay down and die when his door is kicked in.
He’s the neighborhood bully.

The neighborhood bully been driven out of every land,
He’s wandered the earth an exiled man.
Seen his family scattered, his people hounded and torn,
He’s always on trial for just being born.
He’s the neighborhood bully.

Well, he knocked out a lynch mob,he was criticized,
Old women condemned him, said he should apologize.
Then he destroyed a bomb factory, nobody was glad.
The bombs were meant for him.
He was supposed to feel bad.
He’s the neighborhood bully.

Well, the chances are against it and the odds are slim
That he’ll live by the rules that the world makes for him,
’Cause there’s a noose at his neck and a gun at his back
And a license to kill him is given out to every maniac.
He’s the neighborhood bully.

He got no allies to really speak of.
What he gets he must pay for, he don’t get it out of love.
He buys obsolete weapons and he won’t be denied
But no one sends flesh and blood to fight by his side.
He’s the neighborhood bully.

Well, he’s surrounded by pacifists who all want peace,
They pray for it nightly that the bloodshed must cease.
Now, they wouldn’t hurt a fly.
To hurt one they would weep.
They lay and they wait for this bully to fall asleep.
He’s the neighborhood bully.

Every empire that’s enslaved him is gone,
Egypt and Rome, even the great Babylon.
He’s made a garden of paradise in the desert sand,
In bed with nobody, under no one’s command.
He’s the neighborhood bully.

Now his holiest books have been trampled upon,
No contract he signed was worth what it was written on.
He took the crumbs of the world and he turned it into wealth,
Took sickness and disease and he turned it into health.
He’s the neighborhood bully.

What’s anybody indebted to him for?
Nothin’, they say.
He just likes to cause war.
Pride and prejudice and superstition indeed,
They wait for this bully like a dog waits to feed.
He’s the neighborhood bully.

What has he done to wear so many scars?
Does he change the course of rivers?
Does he pollute the moon and stars?
Neighborhood bully, standing on the hill,
Running out the clock, time standing still,
Neighborhood bully.

'That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,' said the Cat.

'You must be,' said the Cat, 'or you wouldn't have come here.'

protection

To request semi or full protection for an article you should do it at WP:RFPP. Keep in mind there are standards as to whether or not protection will be granted, for semi there has to be enough disruptive activity by non-autoconfirmed users to block them from editing the article and full protection will generally only be granted when there is large scale edit-warring by multiple parties (admins would generally rather block specific editors than fully-protect an article). On the article you requested I personally dont think protection will be granted, there is not enough disruption coming from IPs to merit it. The article not being stable is not reason to have it protected. nableezy - 01:09, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Now I know.--Mbz1 (talk) 01:11, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gilabrand

As Tim Song can't and won't unilaterally overturn Gilabrand's block, perhaps WP:AN is the best place to propose this? I agree that the block was excessive and should be lifted. Fences&Windows 13:41, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for that, I will try. Best wishes.--Mbz1 (talk) 14:17, 9 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Your note

Thanks for your nice note. I can't say I have been enjoying the big kerfuffle, but it has been interesting, a sort of baptism by fire. I don't regret wading in though. The process showed me another side of Wikipedia, one I had never seen before. A less rational, less civilized, side, but a curiosity nonetheless. Invertzoo (talk) 20:24, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

So, what happened to the DYK nomination? Where is it now? Was it withdrawn? Invertzoo (talk) 20:25, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, Susan, all the time we have known each other I have tried to save you from all those sides of Wikipedia you're talking about, and which I've experienced a lot as you probably know. I have never asked for your help for any article I wrote or expanded that could have created some kind of controversy or problems for you. If I only knew that Paul the Octopus would become one of those...I am relieved to learn you're taking it easy, and even find it curious.--Mbz1 (talk) 22:03, 10 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you, but I cannot accept any credit for this. My nomination was declined, the other one, I had absolutely nothing to do with, was accepted. I am sure the article will get lots of hits, but it is User talk:AngChenrui, who should be thanked for the hook.--Mbz1 (talk) 17:45, 11 July 2010 (UTC)[reply]

And about Mani, The New Paper of Singapore which was the first to mention him ran a report this morning saying that "his fame might last for a while as the bird already has a page on the internet encyclopedia Wikipedia." Maybe a journalist saw his featuring on the main page ;) Of course, the report was repeated in other publications, example. So, all's good, and I'm a proud contributor!
