The Wicker Amendment is legislation that would allow rail travelers to put properly licensed, unloaded guns in AMTRAK baggage.

  • "Effective December 15, 2010, Amtrak will accept reservations of firearms and ammunition for carriage between Amtrak stations and on Amtrak trains within the United States that offer checked baggage service." Firearms in Checked Baggage - AMTRAK
  • The change, pushed by gun rights advocates and ordered by Congress, aligns Amtrak's firearms policy with air travel rules that allow unloaded guns to be stored in locked baggage holds. Sacremento Bee Dec. 7, 2010
