Although I've unblocked you based on your commitment not to edit war any more, in view of your block log and history, I think it may be best if you are placed under a 1RR restriction. Accordingly, until further notice, do not revert content in any article or other page more than once in a 24 hour period, subject only to exemption for blatant vandalism. If you do revert, even one time, you must immediately take your concern to the relevant talk page, and your edit summary should so note. Violation of this sanction may result in escalating blocks. This sanction may be appealed in the normal ways, for example at my talk, or by making a post at WP:AN or directly to ArbCom if the previous methods are not satisfactory. This sanction is to remain in place until further notice. ++Lar: t/c 19:30, 28 July 2010 (UTC) |

Welcome back!
The Random Acts of Kindness Barnstar | ||
Welcome back! Also, thanks for the barnstar. I think you deserve one of these too, for this particularly kind and civil conversation with a new user. I came across that conversation in December, from looking at one of the pictures that he had posted, and was happy to see that someone had been civil to him, especially since he seemed to be in a difficult situation! I should have awarded you with this right away.
The Photographer's Barnstar | ||
I, Pericles, award User:Mbz1 this honorary barnstar in recognition of her most excellent and thoughtful work in touching up File:Arm less man.JPG, drastically improving the visual quality of a valuable historic image used in Parthian Empire and several other articles at Wikipedia. I bow to you madam, and thank you! Pericles of AthensTalk 17:23, 14 April 2010 (UTC) |

- You're very welcome! You can keep track of the progress I'm making on my draft here if you like: User:PericlesofAthens/Draft for Parthian Empire. I've yet to add your picture, but it will be placed in an appropriate section, most likely "nobility" or "art and architecture". Cheers buddy.--Pericles of AthensTalk 22:25, 14 April 2010 (UTC)

I don't hand Barnstars out very often, in fact, I can't remember the last time I did so. I had promised you one, if Herrengasse 23 became a DYK but, it seems the world and Wikipedia must remain in ignorance. Neighborhood Bully
Well, the neighborhood bully, he’s just one man,
His enemies say he’s on their land.
They got him outnumbered about a million to one,
He got no place to escape to, no place to run.
He’s the neighborhood bully.
The neighborhood bully just lives to survive,
He’s criticized and condemned for being alive.
He’s not supposed to fight back,he’s supposed to have thick skin,
He’s supposed to lay down and die when his door is kicked in.
He’s the neighborhood bully.
The neighborhood bully been driven out of every land,
He’s wandered the earth an exiled man.
Seen his family scattered, his people hounded and torn,
He’s always on trial for just being born.
He’s the neighborhood bully.
Well, he knocked out a lynch mob,he was criticized,
Old women condemned him, said he should apologize.
Then he destroyed a bomb factory, nobody was glad.
The bombs were meant for him.
He was supposed to feel bad.
He’s the neighborhood bully.
Well, the chances are against it and the odds are slim
That he’ll live by the rules that the world makes for him,
’Cause there’s a noose at his neck and a gun at his back
And a license to kill him is given out to every maniac.
He’s the neighborhood bully.
He got no allies to really speak of.
What he gets he must pay for, he don’t get it out of love.
He buys obsolete weapons and he won’t be denied
But no one sends flesh and blood to fight by his side.
He’s the neighborhood bully.
Well, he’s surrounded by pacifists who all want peace,
They pray for it nightly that the bloodshed must cease.
Now, they wouldn’t hurt a fly.
To hurt one they would weep.
They lay and they wait for this bully to fall asleep.
He’s the neighborhood bully.
Every empire that’s enslaved him is gone,
Egypt and Rome, even the great Babylon.
He’s made a garden of paradise in the desert sand,
In bed with nobody, under no one’s command.
He’s the neighborhood bully.
Now his holiest books have been trampled upon,
No contract he signed was worth what it was written on.
He took the crumbs of the world and he turned it into wealth,
Took sickness and disease and he turned it into health.
He’s the neighborhood bully.
What’s anybody indebted to him for?
Nothin’, they say.
He just likes to cause war.
Pride and prejudice and superstition indeed,
They wait for this bully like a dog waits to feed.
He’s the neighborhood bully.
What has he done to wear so many scars?
Does he change the course of rivers?
Does he pollute the moon and stars?
Neighborhood bully, standing on the hill,
Running out the clock, time standing still,
Neighborhood bully.
Bob Dylan
- “The rain it raineth on the just
And also on the unjust fella,
But chiefly on the just, because
The unjust steals the just's umbrella”
- 'Would you tell me, please, which way I ought to go from here?'
'That depends a good deal on where you want to get to,' said the Cat.
'I don't much care where —' said Alice.
'Then it doesn't matter which way you go,' said the Cat
- 'But I don't want to go among mad people,' Alice remarked.
'Oh, you can't help that,' said the Cat: 'we're all mad here. I'm mad. You're mad.'
'How do you know I'm mad?' said Alice.
'You must be,' said the Cat, 'or you wouldn't have come here.'
Sorry
I wasn't being malicious. I reviewed a few nominations by this editor and found that his/her work needed a ton of copyediting and wikifying, so I thought that s/he wasn't familiar with Wikipedia policies. Then I started seeing his/her tick on nominations without any of the usual explanations, like "date, length, hook source OK", and I thought that s/he wasn't familiar with DYK policies either. Then I saw his/her tick in the middle of your discussion, before the reviewer got back to your complaint, so I crossed it out lest an administrator accept the nomination without taking your complaint into consideration. My apologies if I misread the situation. Yoninah (talk) 09:15, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- Well, you did not provide any explanations for crossing out their vote either, except in the edit summary. IMO it is better to avoid altering other editors comments, it is better just to add your own. Thanks.--Mbz1 (talk) 15:47, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Blocked
Your reason here
along with the reason you believe the block is unjustified, or email the blocking administrator. For alternative methods to appeal, see Wikipedia:Appealing a block. -- tariqabjotu 21:20, 27 July 2010 (UTC) Mbz1 (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
- I edited according to the clear consensus 6 editors over 2 for keeping old version.
- I was acting in accordance with BOLD, revert, discuss.
- Please notice it is only my second block for edit warring, the first one was lifted 40 minutes after it was posted.
- I notified the other editor about 3RR on their talk page, and only after that they reported me.
- Still I probably should not have done what I did, and I am sorry. I promise not edit warring again.
- Please unblock me, if it is possible. Of course, if I am unblocked the other editor should be unblocked as well because it will be unfair to keep them blocked. So, if it is impossible to unblock both of us, please do not unblock me alone.
Decline reason:
The 3RR report is at WP:AN3#User:Mbz1 reported by User:Binksternet (Result: Mb: 48h; Bi: 24h). Though you made four reverts, your defense to the complaint seems to be that you were reverting to enforce a talk page consensus. Note that the WP:3RR policy includes a number of exceptions but enforcement of what you believe to be a talk page consensus is not one of the accepted reasons. You did not *have* to revert four times. It seems that you went into this situation in a conscious way so why should reviewing admins try to rescue you from the consequences of your own decision? This appears to be your tenth block. EdJohnston (talk) 23:30, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the unblock template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
- Well, It appears that you were not even able to count the numbers of my blocks. I was blocked 7 times before, and it is my 8th and not 10th block (I hope the blocks done by own request and the blocks issued by mistakes do not count as the blocks, do they?) From those 7 blocks only one was for edit warring, and it was lifted less than an hour after it was posted with admin apologizing because the article was protected, and the block was not warranted. So, should we subtract one more block? Then it is only my 7th block with none for edit warring.
- Besides, I apologized for edit warring, promised to stop it, and never do it again, and keep me blocking after that is a punishment, which the blocks are not.
- So, I consider your decline reason to be unfair.--Mbz1 (talk) 23:55, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Your autoblock should also be clear now. ++Lar: t/c 19:25, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
recent changes
Blocks are not intended for use in retaliation, as punishment, or where there is no current conduct issue which is of concern.
Blocking policy purpose and goal
Blocks are intended to reduce the likelihood of future problems, by either removing, or encouraging change in, a source of disruption. They are not intended for use in retaliation, as punishment, or where there is no current conduct issue which is of concern. |
---|
Really? Is that so? I sincerely apologized, for edit warring, and promised it will never happen again. I have never given such promises before, so I possibly could not have broken any in the past. I cannot believe that between few dozens wikipedia administrators, who saw my unblock request, was not any one brave enough and fair enough to simply comply with the blocking policy and to unblock me. Oh well. I guess blocks are intended as punishment! Time to re-write the policy.--Mbz1 (talk) 08:00, 28 July 2010 (UTC)

Inquiry
Dear Mbz1,
I discovered your brillant photo of a green turtle in Wikipedia and would like to use it for a paper for primary school children that is going to be published in September. The paper will be distributed for free in a run of 20,000 to all primary school children of the city of Bonn, Germany.
I am a teacher at a primary school in Bonn and one of the three "publishers". We do this work voluntarily.
One subject of the issue will be the sea turtle rescue project in the Gulf of Mexico. Besides information, the short text is aimed to be motivation, both for reading (of course) and ecological awareness. The picture is meant for illustrating the beauty of this creature.
You have genoursly licensed this picture to everyone for further use. Unfortunately, the picture is not at a high resolution to use it in print media. I was told that we need 300 dpi.
So could you help us, please? Could you name a url where we can download it at a higher resolution? Or could sent it to me by email? Is it possible to get the copyrigt for one issue of the paper for free or at least low in price? Of course your name would be mentioned in the paper.

1RR restriction
++Lar: t/c 19:30, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
